The minister of defense of the United Kingdom visits Somaliland 

Hargeisa,(Qaran news)-The defense minister of of the United Kingdom visited Somaliland republic today . He was received by President Muse Bihi Abdi and other head of Somaliland defense ministry as well as other high ranking Somaliland officials.
This is the first time that such a high ranking minister visited Somaliland.

Somaliland gained independence from Great Britain on June 26, 1960 and joined Somalia on the 1st of July 1960.
The country seceded from Somalia on May 18 1991 after the union failed and tens of thousands of people from Somaliland were killed by the regime of the late Siyad Barre during the civil war.
