The situation in Baidoa, capital of Bay region was calm this morning, after three days of deadly clashes between Police and supporters of the jailed candidate Mukhtar Robow.

Additional security forces are seen on the streets of the city, to ensure security and prevent more violence as the presidential candidates are beginning their speeches at parliament.

Relations with security officials say the situation has returned to normalcy and no protest was reported on Sunday.

At least 13 people, including a regional lawmaker, have been killed and dozens wounded in the riots sparked by the arrest of Mukhtar Robow, a key presidential candidate in Southwest election due to be held on December 19.

Robow was detained by Ethiopian troops and then transferred to Mogadishu prison amid condemnations on his arrest by MPs in Somali parliament and politicians from Southwest.
