Nationalist Posted January 18, 2005 I hate the word dhaanyeer. My father used to call me that when I was in trouble again. But I noticed that white people crack up when they hear the word "dhuuso" especially 'dh'. Funniest sounding word in the Somali vocabulary.

Strawberry_Xu Posted January 19, 2005 To my horror I've found myself in surfer speak territory lately. I caught myself saying ...like totally a lot. Darling also pops up quite frequently. Yes it is usually patronising, but it's very useful for when I forget people's names or when I can't be bothered to remember them. I also tend to say "I'm a laydeeee" very often for no reason at all. Salma Posted January 20, 2005 I have a colleague who never stop using the word "Cool", Ok fine I can get it when its said 4 something cool but why its used for the unacceptable things too. Maybe they get used to this word. Wiilo, talking about "Dear"; I just cant digest that word anymore. It really lost its beautiful meaning, now even your enemy will call you "Dear". Some people use "Wallahi" for everything & anything. Salam

sheherazade Posted January 22, 2005 Every few weeks I over-use some word or other. Right now I'm over-doing, 'wow', 'amazing', 'instinct'. Old-time favourites are: beautiful, funky, oh, love, awful, disgusting and boll*cks(I know better but it won't go away). Jay-eleven understands, hehe. nuune Posted January 22, 2005 I don't use anything for my sentences, I control every word I say before it comes out of my mouth, example, if I wanna say "heey" I have to do four steps: 1- waa ka fakkiraa marka hore waxaan dhihi lahaa 2- waa go'aansanaa inaan dhihi karo eraygaas, 3- waa miizaamaa haddii dhihi karo eraygaas, 4- kaddib waa dhahaa erayga si taxaddar iyo weyrax la'aan practically, that is what I do
