Warrior of Light Posted September 20, 2004 Its all vanity really. Ppl have become so judgemental and influenced by others appearances and have become appearance oriented. What happened to the good ol saying ''dont judge the book by its cover?' Anyway, with any type of surgery it has its pros and cons. With plastic surgery some patients have had nerves severed ending up with twitchy faces or a tightened face on a unilateral side which doesnt look good. Etcetera etc..... Personally, Im 'for' the medical necessity . Seen live videos of face lifts, nose jobs.....(part of the edu) and Ive also been asking the same qn. Did they really have to go to that length?? why not do a simple peeling or dermal abrasion to remove the wrinkles and appear a bit younger. Well thats theyre personal choice i guess. Ethically speaking most plastic surgeons prefer to operate on ppl who really need to have the job done and not the patient who will come with a picture sayin 'I want this nose' as they know that even how hard they will try the patient will always find a fault. So doctors try to avoid these patients or make sure they undergo a psychological check up. Although those with money e.g Michael Jackson can get away with it and ended up with a MASKED FACE-- A term applied used a person has had approximately 3 face lifts as the body loses its elasticity and has that particular stretched n thining appearance. As for gender changing, some ppl have been born hermaphrodites-ambigous genitalia(both male n female organs) if treated and corrected as a child usually there is no problem. But for some (thanks to poor infrastructure-pre and post natal services)unfortunately end up realising it too late. You find a boy(genetical) being brought up as a girl or vice versa. which has a huge psychological impact on the persons development. Thus such changes after the necessary evaluations- (multidiscplinary) a joint decision is made and the prefered sex change is made. Out of curiosity, this hairy woman movie what is it a bout? Hirsuitism? was she treated with Laser therapy or just the normal epilations????
