Nur Posted April 23, 2004 Nomads If the number of responses to Somaliaonline forums is any indicator of your intersets in youve which ranked forums the follwing way: Favored Forum is GENERAL Second Forum is WOMEN Third is POLITICS Fourth Is STUDENT TALK Poor Islam finished a distance FIFTH, just befre jokes ( Unlike me most Somalis are indeed a serious people) The numbers show that the typical Somali is not focused ( General topics are most popular) We either have too many educated women, or lonely unemployed men looking to meet a highly paid women. We are part of the mess back home, we love talking politics with no clear objective or strategy to get out of our national tragedy, as we are in our 13 year of anarchy. Education ranks the least of our ineterst .... and Finally Islam, is something we wish to go away. It wouldnt, you will. and when that happens for you........ you will be on deep fertilizer. The trouble is in that day, the day of judgement Allah will also put you in the proper place, equivalent with where this survey has placed Allah SWT. So if Islam was in the fifth place in our interest level, it follows that most Nomads will find themselves in the FIFTH COLUMN in the day of judgement, or like we say in Egyptian language, Al Taabuur Al Khaamis. Khayr Posted April 23, 2004 Salaamz, You're observation walaal is Not Bad. The reality is that we live in a 'Fast Food, Prayer on the GO, Drive Thru-Banks, On-line Book readings (I don't think that I been to the library since I finished school for research or to read something b/c of the Net!)' World were IMPATIENCE is the NORM and ENCOURAGED. Focus (Allah and the qiyamaa (our meeting with Him which we can't avoid (I haven't found a hadith or ayat saying that u'll be sent straight to Janna skipping that Meeting )through Quran, Sunnah and Shariah, and Balance-through the Sunnah, which is what Islam is based are not the PARADIGMS/IDEALS/OBJECTIVES anymore. So here on SOL, we are a reflection of: -Who we are? -What we are? -Where we are? -Why we are? -When we are? I just wanted to add one thing and that is that from my observation outside of the 'ISLAM' forum, most SOL members are actually HOSTILE to anything ISLAMIC unless they LIKE IT. To add, even in the ISLAM forum, the responses are very weak and not strong. So people are people and inshallah I've learnt to re-orient myself. Its a TABOO here on SOL to talk about ISLAM outside of the LIKED ZONES of friendliness i.e. Thanx brother, sister, I like what you said. If people don't like what you say, you are questioned and as to where your allegiance lies. As witnessed by the banning of some previous members which I thought were good for SOL b/c it re-oriented/re-directed them from mundane topics to people's views and CONVICTIONS. AYOUB Posted April 24, 2004 Good observation Nur but on the positive side there verses of Qur'an in most sections which is just another proof ISLAM is way of life. Maybe the thats the way to go - Islam in all sections of SOL not just one.
Nur Posted November 21, 2006 Ayoub bro. Allah says in Quraan : "Wa in min qaryatin illaa khalaa fiihaa Nadiir". Meaning: there is not a Village (throught history) without a ( person to remind them about Allah and the day of judgement) This is a global village, Somali Nomads from Kurtunwaarrey to Kansas, congregate around these sites and read the same pages and get the same message on SOL, in this Village of SOL, some volunteer Nomads have taken the time to remind their peers about Allah, but response and interest levels are matching the historical levels of apathy, when the wake up call rings, it will be too late.
