The new Ambassador of the United States of America to Somalia, Donald Yukio Yamamoto has welcomed the massive progress made in the Horn of Africa country.

Yamamoto welcomed the Federal government’s efforts and commitment to enhancing foreign relations, reviving the economy, and the security sector.

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has today received the credential letters of the new ambassador from the United States to Somalia, Donald Yamamoto.

President Farmajo praised the newly appointed ambassador and hoped that he will strengthen the relations between Somalia and US.

The United States wants to rebuild its diplomatic relations with Somalia for the first time since two American Black Hawk helicopters were shot down in Mogadishu in 1993.

Mr. Yamamoto was nominated in July this year to replace Mr. Stephen Michael Schwartz who has been serving the office since July 2016.
