Tense of fighting mounting high in central Somalia

Reports reaching us from Galgadud region in central Somalia indicate that an escalating tension is brewing in parts of Galgadud region of central Somalia on Monday.

Local residents in Balanbal village say two armed rival clan militiamen are mobilizing in for battle over the ownership of grazing land and boreholes on the outskirts of Guri’el town.

The tension has forced many families to flee their houses in fear of war that could break out at any time due to the building up of hostility between the two opposing sides who have been battling in the area for the past years.

The traditional elders and authorities in the area are making efforts to put out the tension and bring the warring clans into the negotiating table to end their dispute through peaceful dialogue.
