underdog Posted August 2, 2005 Since all the festivities in Toronto have come to an end, I'm off to London (among other places). Whats this I hear about crappy weather? do I really need a jacket? and what are my chances of not getting hassled at the airport? and apart from visiting family what else is there to do in London? -Lily- Posted August 2, 2005 Yes it has been raining for most of last week, looking a little up, still clowdy. You might need a jumper or a light jkt. Do whatever the police ask you to and you ll be fine, you dont want to get shot. As to what is there to do in london, pleanty to sum up, go to www.thisislondon.co.uk. Hope that helps. nafta Posted August 2, 2005 I've just the spend the weekend in London and the weather was quite alrightish with a little drizzle every now and then. Though when I left again on Monday, it was seriously shyte...pouring as hell and around mid-noon it was sunny again. Take a jacket and have an umbrella at all times. Oh and if you're planning to use the tube, avoid taking any baggage. The stuff I went through, with them wading through my personal stuff...disgusting amounts of security. Enjoy your stay

underdog Posted August 3, 2005 So long as you don't make it permanent. Don't tempt me Bee. I might just brave crappy weather, poor dental health and cramped streets just to live down the street from you.
Blessed Posted August 3, 2005 The weather is perfect I say. Not too cold, not too hot - I don’t really like British heat. and what are my chances of not getting hassled at the airport? Very dim! There's actually a policy for checking up on Somalis with non-British EU passports. We get many caydh immigrants and unfortunately N.Americans get bullied by the IA- one of my cousins was delayed for 8 hours last summer... It's prolly worse with bombing. Prepare, to be made to sit around for a few hours. Pack a good book, maybe. and .. finaly- There’s plenty to do especially at this time of the year. If you like the Theatre (London is place for this); The Big Life is a must see. Enjoy, bruv

Animal Farm Posted August 25, 2005 Damn London, and damn the British, you should have stayed in Canada. What’s the deal with UK people always saying in it and yaah, Dawg, I think you’ll find eh less annoying than yah. PS. You’ve gotta visit a khat house there, it’s an interesting experience. sheherazade Posted August 25, 2005 UD, if u do visit a khat house, be sure to wear protective clothing and a mask. Take a sample of whatever you touch so if you pass away that night(more like early next morn) your family will at least know what it was. And they'll then start campaigning for the banning of khat and the closing of khat houses in the UK. Sigh. I've been told of a particularly foul one where the resident life forms have developed complex nervous systems(no, not the men themselves unfortunately). You'll be doing us a favour, innit? Enjoy the autumnal weather.
