Deeq A. Posted November 10, 2018 Abiy: Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia will not have three presidents in the future “The New Horn” 10 Nov 2018 – (EP) Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed indicated that the Horn of Africa will have one president instead of three in a speech after the inauguration of the Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital in the City of Bahir Dar with Eritrean and Somalia presidents today. They also visited a university and various development projects including irrigation projects and agro-industry park in the Amhara regional state. The Ethiopian PM hasn’t specified when the region will have a “united” president other than saying “in the future”. Yesterday, Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed “Farmajo” arrived in the northern Ethiopian city of Gondar – where Isaias’s grandfather is buried – for the summit with their Ethiopian counterpart to cement the Asmara Agreement of the economic and political integration of the Horn of Africa. The Somali president told officials during a speech in Gondar that “the history of the Horn of Africa has changed”. “Now we are moving for regional collaboration in economic development in order to be sure that we fight poverty in this region,” he added. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of Somalia have concluded their visit to Ethiopia today. Source

Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted November 10, 2018 Thos won't be possible in our lifetime or next, but otherwise in ganacsiga la isku furo Soomaaliya ayee faa'ido weyn ugu jirtaa. More mini-Islii ayaa Adisababa laga furaa and our fishery industry can have a large land-locked market like Xabashiland. Kiinya, Tansaaniya iyo Ugaandha have been trying this integration thing for decades, and nothing is feasible yet. If anything, they will be the first. Old_Observer Posted November 11, 2018 Thank you Amigos. This is what I say "you confirmed what was in doubt" These are the most pressing issues for these three: 1. Eritrea has more prisoners than their conscript army estimated 300K 2. Somalia has not moved an inch in constitution, al shabab, next election one man one vote... 3. Ethiopia has 20 million unemployed young. Worst part is now unemployed are even in villages not only cities. This is not supposed to happen, but the villagers have iphones and cannot herd or farm. These are three UAE water carriers for UAE against Djibouti under supervisor Isayas. That is now in the open.
Dahireeto Posted November 11, 2018 Yeah, and I can build a mountain on the moon in the future! Abiy Ahmed knows himself that this is just not possible, but he had to say that to look like he is in control of the Horn Trio. It was a power play statement, if anything. Oromo population loves to hear these kind of statements.
galbeedi Posted November 11, 2018 These statements are intended for the Amhara and Oromo constituents. Also, Abiy Ahmed is feeling the encroaching Amhara influence in Ethiopia. At the moment , he is buying time to consiladate power and fend off the eventual Amhara takeover. In 1974 when the king was deposed by popolar uprising, the then Oromo provisional president Tafari Bante ignored the Oromo mobs and others who were agitating , looting and the killings. The people demanded peace and change. Finally , a lowly Amhara Colonel called Mengistu Hailemarium came an took the power without mercy, and the rest is history. The Amhara is uniting and working with other minorities in major cities. Heck, they even agitated in Jigjiga to show their force. That is why Abiy is moving quick to satisfy the Amhara intelligentsia. He helped an Amhara woman to be president, and this week , he brought the Somali president and Asayas of Eritrea to Bahir Dar and Gondor the Amhara region major cities. The Tigray are sitting behind the scenes with their military, but the Amhara are the biggest threat. If Abiy really want to help Somalia, they must stop the weapons flooding to the insurgency between the two rivers (Hiiraan, middle and lower Shabeele, Bay and Jubba). I never get the idea of signing treaties while your nation is still bleeding. Mr. Farmaajo, go home and fix the problems in Hawl wadaag . As soon as this Abiy guy consolidates power, he could be even deadlier than Meles Zanawi. This guy want the UN, USA and others to forget about Somalia, Djibouti and other and deal with him directly. He must implement the old Amhara agenda or he will be history.

He must implement the old Amhara agenda or he will be history. Every one of them is trying to show their home base that, they are most important leader of the region. But even ordinary citizens know the reality. Eritrea to wish well to Djibouti is unthinkable. Ethiopia to wish ill to Djibouti is also unthinkable, but st-upid things happen sometimes. Abiy may be too weak and needs Isayas the Eritrea Tigray as part replacement for Ethiopia Tigray. On the other hand only Tigray Ethiopia can handle Amhara. better than Oromo can. The Tigray have the advantage of being original Xabeshi in everything and have better relations with other Ethnics than Amhara can manage.
