MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)—The United Nations ambassador, Nicholas Haysom and African Union special envoy for Somalia Francisco Madeira have travelled to the coastal town of Kismayo, some 500km south of Somali capital Mogadishu.

Heysom and Madeira were warmly welcomed and started talks to weigh in on the ongoing political crisis in Somalia.

The spat between central government based in Mogadishu and its state-members has been escalating for the past weeks after the state leaders announced to have suspended all relations.

A serious Twitter posts, UN says its envoy held talks with Jubaland leader, Ahmed Madobe to hear about local progress and challenges.

The UN and AU chiefs in Somalia are set to visit the state governments, in a bid to resolve the latest political tension and the grievance of the state-members.

The visit paid by UN and AU chiefs comes after Somali President has again called on his state-members for a consultative conference in Mogadishu to resolve the current political differences.

He called on the leaders to respect the interest of the people and to accept the demands of the Federal government to strengthen the latest efforts to ensure unity and cooperation.

However, UN says the decision by the five regional presidents could embolden Al Shabaab and negate the gains made by the African Union Mission in Somalia.
