Posted October 27, 2018 MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)—Somalia’s Intelligence says a senior Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab official has been killed in drone strike carried out by US military in west of the capital of Mogadishu. The Agency said the latest airstrike had killed Al-Shabab’s head of tax collection. The strike was carried out n Oct. 25 in Kunyo Barrow area, some 65km west of Somali capital Mogadishu. Last week, African Union mission in Somalia says its forces had killed head of Al-Shabab finance controller and 7 others in an attack in west of Somali capital Mogadishu. There was no immediate response from Al Shabaab over the claims. The Al-Qaeda linked Shabaab was pushed out of the Somali capital in 2011 — and subsequently other towns and cities — by soldiers from the African Union Mission in Somalia. Somali has been without a central authority since the overthrow of the late ruler Mohamed Siyad Barre in 1991 when the country plunged into chaos and lawlessness.
