Somalia to host OIC summit in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)—The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a ministerial meeting of the OIC contact group on 27 October 201 in Somali capital Mogadishu.

The group included – Egypt, Djibouti, Iran, Kuwait, Gabon, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey, UAE, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Brunei and Yemen

Somalia will host the meeting on its soil for the first time in accordance with the resolutions of the 44th and 45th Islamic Conferences of Foreign Affairs Ministers, held in Abidjan in Ivory Coast and in Dhaka in Bangladesh respectively.

The participants will focus on the ways and means to promote durable peace and institutional stability in Somalia.

Somalia as a founding State of the OIC has always occupied a high place on the OIC agenda and the OIC continues to actively contribute at various levels for achieving peace and stability in Somalia.
