Deeq A. Posted October 25, 2018 MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)— A deadly bomb explosion targeting armored personnel carrier has killed at least 7 government soldiers near Somali capital Mogadishu. The explosion hit an armored vehicle carrying Somali military soldiers while travelling between Jazeera and Dhanane areas near the capital of Mogadishu, Mohamed Badeil, a witness said. He says 5 other soldiers were also injured in the bomb explosion. Mohamed told Caasimada Online that the military forces were heading to Marka town, some 91km southwest of Somali capital. He says a boat had taken the victims and rushed into hospitals in Mogadishu. Somali military officials were unavailable to reach on the phone for comments on bomb attack There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the roadside bomb explosion, but such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab. The group has been waging insurgency for more than ten years in Somalia. The Al-Qaeda linked Shabaab was pushed out of the Somali capital in 2011 — and subsequently other towns and cities — by soldiers from the African Union Mission in Somalia. The country has struggled with civil war for decades, and AMISOM has been active there since 2007. Somali has been without a central authority since the overthrow of the late ruler Mohamed Siyad Barre in 1991 when the country plunged into chaos and lawlessness.
