MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)— Twin bomb explosions have on Tuesday hit Kenyan armored personnel carrier near border town along Somalia.

The bomb blasts ripped through Kenyan military carrier while travelling between Arabia and Finow areas in Mandera town.

In statement by an Al-Shabaab mouthpiece said, the group has been responsible for twin bomb attacks on Kenyan military vehicle heading to Elwak town.

The group claimed to have killed scores of Kenyan military soldiers in the bomb explosions.

A Kenyan armored personnel carrier was reportedly destroyed by the landmine explosion while heading to its army camp in Elwak town.

There was no immediate comment from Kenyan military over the claims.

Kenya’s northeast region has suffered terror attacks over the years, stifling development in the border county.

In May, Al Shabaab killed four at a quarry in Shimbir Fatuma, a remote location in Mandera town bordering Somalia.

In August, two people were killed by militia at Mandera South Sub County, an incident that prompted the area MP Adan Kullow to call an urgent meeting with local security leaders and elders.
