MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online)– Jubaland regional state leader, Ahmed Mohamed has urged Kenya to help Somalia in fighting against Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group.

Mr. Ahmed Madobe called on Kenya to cooperate with Somalia, in a bid to eradicate the deadliest group in Africa — Al Shabaab in Somalia.

He also urged Kenya to reopen its border along Somalia soon, amid rising attacks by Al Shabaab.

“It is important to focus on the relationship based on Safety, Health and Relationship communities in the Somali-Kenya border”, he said.

Madobe’s call comes after Kenya deployed hundreds of its soldiers to the border towns, in a bid to thwart border-cross-attacks carried out by the Islamist group in Somalia.

Earlier this week, the Islamist group in Somalia has claimed to have carried out massive attack on Kenyan military army camp in the coastal town of Lamu, killing at least ten soldiers.

The group said its fighters had also captured 3 soldiers alive during the raid.

Al -Shabaab vowed to rump its attacks against Kenyan forces in northeastern region, until Nairobi withdraws its forces under African Union peacekeeping force from Somalia.

Kenya says it has suffered since their arrival in Somalia in 2011 – but, adding, it will not affect its mission and will only strengthen their resolve to achieve regional peace.

Kenya contributes about 4,000 troops to the 22,000-strong African Union force in Somalia, battling against Al Shabaab.
