Deeq A. Posted September 24, 2018 NAIROBI (Caasimada Online) – Kenya’s military says its forces have launched a dawn operation against Al Qaeda inspired group of Al Shabaab. KDF Colonel, Public Affairs, Paul Njuguna said the militaray forces killed 10 Al-Shabaab militants and recovered seven AK47 rifles, ammunition during in Lamu operation Njuguna says 3 Kenyan military officers sustained injuries from the raid and were airlifted to Nairobi for medical treatment. “Our Kenyan army pursues other terrorists who fled with injuries in Taksile area, North of Pandanguo”, he said. He uged locals to participate in weeding out lurking Al Shabaab elements in their midst, in order to assist in the progressive pacification of Lamu. There was no immediate comment from the group over the claims made by Kenyan military. In 2011, Nairobi sent its troops into Somalia to thwart deadly border cross attacks and kidnappings allegedly carried out by Al Qaeda inspired group Al Shabaab. Kenya has soldiers serving under African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia to help the weak-western backed government battling against Al Shabaab.
