Posted September 16, 2018 MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online) — Somalia’s Upper House of Federal Parliament has sent a delegation to headquarters of Puntland to mediate in the political crisis between regional states and the central government. The first delegation from the country’s Upper House departed from the airport in Somali capital Mogadishu to the headquarters of Puntland, according to source. The Senate’s standing committee led by Hon. Abdirahman Farole flew to Garowe town to defuse the escalating standoff in Somalia, a country now struggling with instability and poverty The Upper House’s efforts is seen as a significant step towards to defuse the latest political stalemate in Somalia. Last week, in a statement by Upper House has urged all regional leaders to stop current tension, calling for giving enough a chance to the mediation efforts. The row comes after regional leaders announced to have suspended all working relationships with the weak-western backed central government. In a bid to end the ongoing row, Somalia’s President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed invited all his regional leaders to join in an urgent meeting in Mogadishu that will be discussed on security, relations and war on Al-Shabaab and ISIL groups in Somalia. The latest ongoing political row is said to be threatening to derail the progress achieved by the Somali government battling with the deadliest Islamist group of Al Shabaab.
