MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online) – Roadside bomb explosion has targeted Ugandan military forces with African Union peacekeeping forces in south of Somalia.

Friday’s bomb explosion went off in Janaale town, some 94 km from Somali capital Mogadishu, a witness said.

He told Caasimada Online that the blast had partially destroyed an armored personnel carrier

It remains unknown how many soldiers killed in the blast.

Friday’s bomb attack on African Union forces’ vehicle was claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group says it had killed several soldiers with African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia in the Friday’s roadside bomb explosion.

There was no comment from African Union mission over the claims.

Al-Shabab, which is fighting to overthrow Somalia’s government, routinely targets AU forces stationed in the country.

The group was pushed out of Mogadishu in 2011 by Somali troops backed by AMISOM soldiers.
