Deeq A. Posted September 2, 2018 NAIROBI, Kenya (Caasimada Online) –Deadly airstrike against Al- Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab group has reporyedly killed sveral foreign Jihadists in south of Somalia. The strike was carried out on Sunday in Bu’ale town, some 485km away from Somali capital Mogadishu, killing several foreign fighters. Somali military says the air-raid targeted a militants’ camp, where the group is believed to launch from suicide bombings and guerilla-style attacks. Mohamud Mohamed, a militray officer, said Sunday’s raid killed number of foreign fighters, who were at the targeted camp in the town. He says 8 other group’s fighters were also injured in the latest airstrike in south of Somalia. It remains unknown the country carried out the strike against Al Shabaab, but such strikes are often carried out by US military. There was no immediate comment from the rebel group over the claims. The President Trump administration approved expanded military operations against extremists in Somalia, including al-Shabaab, which is linked to al-Qaeda The U.S. has carried out 20 such strikes this year against the Somalia-based al-Shabab. The al-Qaida-linked group is the deadliest Islamic extremist organization in sub-Saharan Africa and it often targets Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu However, Al-Shabaab fights to topple Somalia’s western-backed central government and impose its a rule based on its own strict interpretation of Islam’s Sharia law.
