Deeq A. Posted August 24, 2018 MOGADISHU (Caasimada Online) – A roadside bomb explosion targeting African Union peacekeeping forces has on Friday killed a soldier in central Somalia. The explosion hit an armored personnel carrier with Djibouti-an soldiers in Jalalaqsi town, some 369 km away from Somali capital Mogadishu. Two other soldiers also injured in the bomb attack, according to a policeman Mohamud Hanad Hussein. He says a soldier died and two others injured after an IED explosion targeted Djibouti soldiers on board. Hussein added the explosion occurred as soldiers were on mission to petrol to the town. The bomb blast was claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab. The group says it killed several African Union soldiers. There was no immediate comment from AU mission over the claims. Al-Shabab has been waging an insurgency in Somalia for more than 10 years. A 22,000-strong African Union force is in the country to help the government in fighting against the al-Qaeda-linked militants.
