Kenya probs Somali official’s multiple Kenyan passports

NAIROBI, Kenya (Caasmada Online) – Kenya has started investigating Somalia’s deputy director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Ahmed Fahad  Dahir alias Fahad Yasin.

Fahad Yasin was accused of using multiple Kenyan passports and a national identity card with conflicting dates of birth.

Kenya’s agencies to probe into Fahad  Yasin’s Kenyan passport C024542 as well as an identity card No. 22847167.

Yasin claimed to have been born in Mandera, Kenya on July 19, 1978 despite his Somalia identity card showing that he was born in Somalia as the document was issued on July 13, 2017, according to Daily Nation.

Daily Nation reported that Yasin’s Kenyan ID card showing that he was born on April 5, 1978 with the document being issued in 2001 in Mandera East Constituency.

In Kenya, one is prohibited from holding a senior government position if he or she has dual citizenship.

Kenya’s Director of Immigration Services Alexander Muteshi has also confirmed the case, adding that investigation started.

This investigation comes a week after Fahad Yasin, a political insider and right-hand-man to President Farmajo was appointed as a new deputy director for NISA in decree announced by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed aka Farmajo.

There was no immediate comment from Yasin’s office over using Kenyan passports and a national identity card with conflicting dates of birth.
