Deeq A. Posted August 13, 2018 MANDERA, Kenya (Caasimada Online) — A roadside bomb explosion has on Monday targeted a police vehicle carrying soldiers in Kenya’s northeast town of Mandera. The explosion ripped through the police soldiers on board while traveling into Yadoo area in the town, leaving several soldiers dead, a witness said. Monday’s bomb attack was immediately claimed by Al-Shabab group through its website. The group says tens of Kenyan police soldiers had been killed in the bomb blast in Mandera town. There was no comment from Kenyan police authorities over the claims. Last week, 11 Kenyan soldiers were left dead in roadside bomb explosion also claimed by Al-Shabab in the coastal town of Lamu. In 2011, Nairobi has sent its troops into Somalia to fight against Al-Shabab in retaliation for a wave of kidnappings of foreigners that has blighted its tourism industry. Kenyan troops crossed the border to an operations point 60 miles inside Somali territory, preparing for raids on the al-Shabab faction, a terrorist outfit linked to al-Qaeda.
