Did Iley and co try to invoke Article 39?

Observer,

Whatever it is, I guess the feeling it is not going out well for Somalis.

This is loss for all kinds of Somalis;

Those who want one government one flag one nation can kiss it goodbye completely. It was tried by force of arms it failed

now was experiment to build it block by block, relatively peacefully and with development in many areas, and this will also seem is failing.

Somalis can't read each other, can't be patient, quick to action...And of course like every society you have those who will go after their individual or small tribe benefit and screw the rest.

The hate and vengeance that comes out of this, and the outsiders who will take advantage of will seal any experiment for generations to come. Will be same as the conference of the 1950s where the British had agreed to gather most Somalis almost 90% under one country.

Appreciate the irony, The leopard can't change its spots but, these Abdi Iley henchman who were proud Ethiopians and used curse every thing Somali are now screaming yaa Somalia aheey, waa nalugu soo dulayeey. A very sad moment for everyday folks in the kililka, but I doubt not too many people sympathise with these oversized characters.

You are exactly where everyone, but a Somali should be. Blaming each other in time of critical change.

Why not you take it from Iley than enjoying others taking it from him. What ever autonomy they take from Iley will not be given back to any other Somali. It will be gone for at least a generation.

If the Oromos do it, they do it for themselves, if the Tigray do it they do it for themselves. The difference for you a Somali is where you are an ally and where you are simply controlled. If you are an ally you have certain control.

I guess you cared about Somali unity and freedom only if its not around Iley and Co.

That is the ultimate hypocrisy. A lot of company.

Addisstandard is like Jawar but from different side. All these outlets throw in totaly fake news in between all the other articles.

Most likely this is fake or was sent in anticipation.

All those headlines which were given beforehand to be announced from different corners like:

Iley killed

Iley arrested

Iley declared article 39

Iley refused meeting in Addis Ababa

Somali kilil Assembly has deposed Iley

Somali conference in Dirdawa has deposed Iley

All came out, but none is true. Only true is those paid anti-peace elements in Jigjiga went ahead and created some mess expecting for defence forces to come and take over Jigjiga.

Why aren't Somali leaders speaking up against the coming massacre?

This is really terrible.

Please keep the updates coming.

Another Somali stooge/traitor bites the dust. Just as Yunis said, what happended to Abdi iley is not a isolate incident. Every hench-man that xabashida  used were either deposed and put in prison  by the xabashida or simply forced into exile once they had served their agenda. The only thing that made Cabdi Iley diffirent was  his sole dedication to pleasing the TPLF-masters. He massacred his own people.

The deep cracks in in the Ethiopian society that Caabey Axmed  tried to hide is now coming into full effect.  The Amhara and the Oromo might think that this violence is occuring in a  a far away region that has no relevance. But it takes only a singe shot to unleash what everyone knows will happen and that has been happening since Eritrea broke away in 1991. The  blue-prints for an africanised yoguslavia were created by the TPLF. The only thing that is needed now is a well united Somali front saying what is on everyones mind and what will spur other ethnic group's to have the bravery and seek their own destiny.   Cabeey Axmed, the amharicised oromo that praises Menelik, the amhara enslaver of oromos will soon or later clash with other dedicated Oromos. He will fail.

So where is Mr Illey now? is he in the hands of the Oromo's federal government? Or is he on the legging-it side of the proceeding, even if no one knows where he will run to. Also it seems that Mr Abby Ahmed's government was already planning this move, at least if one were to judge things by the speed in which the government's mouth-pieces all of a sudden start coordinated their attacks.

But what is still not clear is who does Mr Abby Ahmed has in mind to take over from Mr Illey. Surely he knows now that in this day-and-age, you can't govern the Somali region with an iron-fist, or even from Addis, without the local people in the Somali region actually managing their local affairs in the manner they were accustomed to do it in recent years.

So, I have a hunch (no more than that) that Mr Abby Ahmed has a "secret deal" with the ONLF to take the place of Mr Illey and his party and then form their own government that will be loyal to Mr Abby Ahmed government at the federal level just like the way Mr Illey and his government were slavishly loyal to then Tigre's ruling elites during that long reign of that Ethnic group on top of the Ethiopian's state.

And it could be the case that Eritrea's strong-man may have had a hand in the "facilitation" of this deal, whereby the recent visit of Mr Abby Ahmed to Eritrea could actually have been the "icing-of-the-cake" of this "arrangement".(as it were). I know it all sounds all too convenient and perhaps touch conspiratorial at first blush of it. But it's not really beyond the bound of possibilities in this Horn-of-Africa's region of ours.

Of course, if I am right in this suspicion hunch of mine, then it's likely that we will see that the ONLF will do a bit of a "song-and-dance" about how revolted they are about what is going on now in the Kililka. And how the federal government is trespassing (or over-stepping) on its strict constitutional boundaries.

However, when the angry racket and usual Somali emotionalism dies down, I wouldn't be surprise, were I see a group of high officials from the ONLF saying aloud to let us put the bygone be the bygone and make a "fresh political deal" with Mr Abby Ahmed's federal government. Even if he had done all sort of things to "abrogate" the Somali region's right to its constitutionally guaranteed devolved power in the meantime. Well, I suppose, time will tell.

You have graduated from Nomad quick to anger quick to action who can just pack his life belongings on a camel or two and move to the calculating sedentary farmer who has to think of his stone fixed house and planted farm.

I agree in all your as you said conspiratorial thoughts, but are logical and what is happening for most part. Eritrea must have done some good arm twisting, and UAE money greasing, because ONLF is actually more antagonistic with Oromo than SPDP Iley.

Actually Farmaajo maybe have piece that affects Jubaland a place which a disgruntled kililka would be first choice of exile.

The Minister in charge of security of Somaliland has made statement to the effect that the borders with Ethiopia will be secured more and that Somalilanders need to take care of Ethiopians in Somaliland in peace and tranquility as good hosts.

The Oromo need some violence. If Iley refused to provide them which he did, they will manufacture it through any means. They have used hooligans cheapest and best choice weapon of democracy and human rights to break some shops and steal that way the federal can come and take over. Combination of Soros with African behaviour is deadly mix. That is what happened, but kililka is better organized, discipleined and stronger than the Oromo thought. Its standstill and back to drawing board.

All postings planned on facebook, twitter...most have been posted and some have been reached and withdrawn.

The speaker of the Assembly made a statement that kililka did not call federal and the coincidence that hooligans starting property damage and theft and arrival of federal need to be investigated.

Typical Somali narrowmindedness. We Somalis always focus on the little issues (Illey) and ignore the bigger picture.

Only 3 things are true so far.

1. The Oromo tried to set up a government in Dirdawa conference and replace Iley government with it. Dirdawa is not in kililka. The Oromo do not have force to set up even a conference inside kililka to replace the regional govt. That has failed so far.

2. In order to bring the govt set up in Dirdawa to Jigjiga, the Oromo sent in/organized some hooligans to start chaos and immediately take over the kililka govt buildings. This has not succeded either, but a lot of shops broken looted trade mark of Africans democratic and human rights armies. This has partly succeeded, but government buildings have not been taken over.

Iley had called up a big Liyu force a day before into Jigjiga and area and did not panic to respond to street disturbance. Rather calmly waited at the targets and the federals could not go to war with Liyu.

3. Now there is behind the scene negotiation going since the Oromo seem to have withdrawn all their dramatic headlines and are now talking about peaceful solution and a Somali solution to Somali problem. That is the last statement.

Holac.  It might be narrow mindedness but what do you expect? He disarmed his people and was the chief henchman of a region that human rights watch in ther report from 2009 said was a closed concentration camp. No aid, no foregin journalists, nothing was allowed in. Ever asked yourself where Lugbuur is, and all of Cabdi Iley predecessors? They were deposed and sent to jail.

When those poor oromos were marching and demonstrating the TPLF used somali forces and sent them to the homelands of Oromiya. He did not even understand that with the fall of the TPLF that his own life and power was under threat.  He could have organised a grand somali meeting and prepared the somalis for the upcoming changes. He instead chose to ride a motorcade with gaalka madow Abey Ahmed during a visit he made to Jigjiga. He probably thought that buissnes would continue as usall, little did he know that his fate was allready on the wall. You will probably in the next few days see another stooge on the scene.

Kadafi, we know what Illey is capable of, and all the human rights abuses. However, unionists, nationalists, secessionists, regionalist … every kind of SOLer understood the importance of safeguarding the Somali region's territorial integrity and autonomy regardless of how Illey got there in the first place. We knew there were ways to deal with Illey eventually, a Somali way, but I never expected sensible, respectable SOLers to be cheering for the complete occupation of the Somali Kilil by an Oromo militia. There are times to focus on the issues you mentioned, but today is not the day for that. The Somali region must not be occupied, and the Oromos must not install their own puppet.

I am speechless saxib. Call me unrealistic, but I believe that Oromos have no business in sending their militia to occupy the Somali region.
