Islam, Moslem, Muslim...in Chapiata Mexico Maya country

The usage of these words in the Horn of Africa varies from place to place. For example in northern Ethiopia Moslem/Islam is most commonly used, where as in south central Ethiopia Muslim is now most used. In Kililka the old fashioned traditional is still dominant other than some active and visible Muslim preferring ones.

How is it in the republic and in the diaspora among Somalis?

 

Here is an interesting article that got me thinking. Among 12,000 Moslems of recent converts, there is already 4 groups with some differences. One of them clearly Wahabi.

Nothing called 'Moslem.' Actually, we Muslims find this term offensive, a deliberate misspelling of the Muslim name, same way we find 'Koran' misspelling instead of Qur'an. In the old days, it was 'Muhammadan' as well, some still insisted using this offensive term well up to a few decades ago.

Their Calendar finished in 2012. That was considered like end of the world by some groups same as American evangelicals support Israel to bring the end they call Rupture of the earth.

There are some societies mostly in north Ethiopia that do not use Muslim or Moslem. They use Islam, Islamay (person).

Mohamedian is funny that comes from how Christians view Christ as a God. So as Christians are followers of Christ it extended from it or copied to Mohamedian.

A lot of the Muslims in Mexico seem to be from the Ahmadiya community. So the seeflabood sallaafiis will not consider them Muslim. But in my opinion the Ahmadiya are better Muslims than the sallafis.
