Soulmate?

Soulmate believers

------------------

1.There is one (or very few) right person(s) for me.

2.Love is discovered.

3.The right person is ideal or close to perfect for me.

4.Finding the right person is the most important factor in a successful relationship.

5.Passion is of great importance.

6.People are hard to change.

Non-believers

-------------

1.There are many people with whom I can be happy with.

2.Love is built over time.

3.Person is not expected to be a perfect fit.

4.Effort is the most important factor.

5.Passion is relatively unimportant.

6.People can change.

Calaf (is totally different than soulmate)

-----

1.Events are pre-detertermined by omniscient Allah and humans are kept in the dark as far as fate is concerned.

2.You have a total faith in what's decreed for you by Allah.

3.Efforts are rewarded regardless your destiny.

In the final anylsis, there are 2 camps in this world, those who believe in soulmates and those who do not. The soulmate believers believe in soulmate theory while people from the other group believe in work-it-out theory.

I don't subscribe to soulmate's camp. :D I don't associate with any of its crap viewpoints. ;)

To prove my reasoning, just read one of the Hollywood's latest tabloids. In any day, you would have read one of its memebers declaring, "I found my perfect compatible person." In other words, a soulmate. In a sudden reversal of opinion regarding the same person in couple months, that same person who had held that previous opinion declares, "S/he wasn't the one for me."

What changed her/his mind in a brief period of time? Because soulmate, judging from their idealist defination, does not exist, though they might think it does.

From Islamic point of view, it is all about having common grounds, as we know love {or rather lust, as most mistake it for love} fades, but having a familiar interests would stay in put. It is all about having those qualities, as our parents used to do: Respect. Honour. Sharing. Reference. Veneration. Appreciation.

According to this theory (Gaalo 'anaylsis' crap, by the way :D ...stimulating stuff though ), u are not: perfectionist, overachiever, idealist, or dreamer. U r a realist. And u know what they say about realists :D . Widaaygey MMA, u r with good company ;)

This is hard! As I read the description of each category I believe a bit of everything. But in essence .....

I'm a Soulmate+ Calaf believer.

Although I consider myself a realist, I don't believe there are 'many' I can be happy with.

6.People are hard to change.

I don't know about this, married folks will always have conflicts its the way they come to terms with it. Therefore, without compromise of either party the marriage is doomed to failure.

Another thing, in my opinion love is built over time.

Ofcourse, all of this (fate) is pre-determined by Allah.

See am confused! lol. I changed my mind, am an independant!!

Yaa muxtrama, muti'adiba, ukhti Tamina...u r not confued abaayadiis. First of all these categories are not mutually exclusive. It is what 'learned' folks deduced from their subjects. Call educated guess, if u will.

Now! let's see: according the theory that I've read, Tamina as a soulmate (as muslims we all believe Calaf) believer, u r more satisfied with ur relationship than MMA. But u have fewer and shorter relationship than MMA :D . U r in search of Mr. right, that soulmate, that is hard to find. U r not a realist ;) U r a perfectionist.
