He has good control of his country, he contributed to economic development, technological advancement. He also just like Putin restored or worked hard to restore culture. Even those who hate him have to respect the man.

Erdogan has been in power for close to 2 decades. For the sake of change, Erdogan should step down. All of his peers have left the stage. Abdullahi Gül and others have moved on.

So, for the sake of the country's progress and to solidify the country's position as regional Superpower. Turkey needs to redefine its relationship with its neighbors. Erdogan has burned too many bridges. So it is time for new leadership.

Mourad,

you are probably spoon fed by western media.I knew sooner or later these attacks and opinions who are one sided  and vicios would  affect those who do not open their horizon, or worse those who are weak in their hearts.

Angela Merkel is in power for 14 years and she still ruling with minority government. She is dominating the economy of Europe by forcing everyone to join the Euro currency dominated by the German bank, and  If she won the last election,  she would have ruled two decades. Helmut Kohl ruled for 16 years before he lost. Most leaders in the world leave when their support goes down or leave with their own terms . Erdogan is not different. He took over in 2003, and ruling less than 15 years , 11 years as prime minister and his fourth year as president.

Despite the propaganda, Erdogan never jailed or had a political prisoner before the coup of 2016. Turkey had experienced real democracy only through Erdogan. As late as 2013, women were arrested or denied university, public service and jobs just because they wear head scarfs.

Abdullah Gul was prime minister and president working with Erdogan, and president ERdogan run the second term because the last system allowed the president to run for one term of six years. Even, this time around,  Cabdalla Gul was encouraged by another more conservative Islamic oriented party  to run for office to replace Erdogan. He said he will consider if all opposition parties agree on him. Believe me, eve the secular parties were learning to be conservative or pro Islamic heritage. It is a good shift. in The next election, no one will fear about being pro Islamic heritage. Erdogan took over from Gul in 2003 as prime minister and 2014, as president.

I wish Somalia would be like that. A nationalist country shaped by Islamic heritage.

Erdogan will eventually leave in 2023, the centennial of the forming of the Turkish republic, after achieving unprecedented development. If this country had good leaders decades before Erdogan, they would have joined the trillion dollar economies like South Korea, Taiwan and others.  Here in Canada the last prime minister was ruling the country with less than 38% of the vote. having 52% of the vote is considered landslide in most countries.

In 2002, the GDP of Turkey was $196 billion. In sixteen years of AKP ,  it quadrupled, and the expected GDP in 2018 will be $900 billion. Economist and GDP forecasters believe that by 2025 , Turkey will be the 10th economy in the world with over trillion dollars. Even with currency speculators and others attacking the Turkish lira, their economic growth was the second largest in the world with 7.4%.. Transformative leaders are rare and if allowed leave a great legacy. Mahathir Mohamad  of Malaysia served his country with distinction and unprecedented progress from 1981-2003. For those 22 years, Malaysia, a middle of the road country in Asia,  joined among the most advanced countries in the world.

For most of us,  Turks , because of their history, geography and  the great tradition of the past,  should be among the leading countries of the world. People of Tukic heritage and language occupy some of the largest countries in central Asia and caucasus. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan , Tajikistan, and others are all Turkic speaking people who are looking toward  Turkey for leadership. In the future, they could form a huge union that has some of the richest resources in the world. Many others in central Europe like Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia, Turks in Bulgaria and other, all have cultural connection and want to integrate economically with Turkey.

A great nation with the Ottoman history must be a leading nation both in Europe and the middle east, not a puppet state . Thus a great nation like Turkey needs an executive presidency to implement both political and economic changes.

At his crucial stage in the region, Turkey needs to keep the same leadership in order to pass the second stage of development and instability in the region from Iraq , Syria, and Iran. There are those who want to fragment the middle east and make  them tiny sectarian entities with chaos, and these forces might  eventually target a weak Turkey with weak and dysfunctional leadership. Just like they destroyed Iraq, they wanted to create three sectarian nations in Syria, and eventually fragment the whole middle east. At this stage in the middle east, those who care must keep the Turks united under unified leadership.

You probably get your headlines from Daily mail or from neo conservatives or the pro interventionist liberal media, but those of us who understand few things know where the ball is headed.

Since 1989, this country had short lived governments like Italy with constant bickering and instability. It was Erdogan who made the deal with Kurdish leaders, allowed their language to be broadcasted in public television, and  opened them to form their own party. At the Sunday election, they got 11% of the and 66 members of parliament. It all happened under the AKP.

My friend, you do not know how  Turkey was  close to end up a civil war or C/fataax Sisi style military ruler. We the faithful, praise Allah for this peaceful election and good future for both Turkey and the region.

Finally, please, allow us to enjoy this peaceful victory.

Let's analyze the Turkish political and economic situation.

The political system which has fostered the progress of Turkey has been in place before The AKP party begun its reign. Turkish elites had always looked toward Europe to find inspiration and had a dream of being admitted to European Union, and this was primarily due to Turkey's historical disassociation with Arabs. However, In light of seeking membership to the EU, Turkish elites and military end of 1990's finally lifted the ban on Islamists taking office. Now, is it fair to dismantle the very system that has brought Erdogan and Co. to power because of the fear that secularists might come back, and implement policies more in line with the founding father AtaTurk?

On the geopolitical level, Turkey is isolated. A failed foreign policy is the reason for that. Who is to blame for that

Economically let us not pretend that Turkey was an underdeveloped country prior Edrogan taking office. The AKP has specifically developed the rural regions of Turkey to the economic engine of the country.  From 2002 to 2012, Erdogan has truly transformed Turkey's economy. Data on Real GDP growth rate and structural investment also back up the facts. So, there is no room for discussion in this area. Nevertheless, ever since Turkey adopted a more assertive foreign policy, and especially toward Syria, and the narrative has changed. The Turkish Lira has lost over 60 % in its value in a period of 5 years. Inflation has skyrocketed. Above all GDP growth rate shaky. The only reason why Turkey's economy is not in shambles is the vast majority of the government, and business debt is denominated in Turkish Lira.

Now, with Bashar al Assad having won the civil war in Syria, and his government actively busing defeated rebels to the Turkish border and with already 2 million refugees in the country,  one can only imagine what Turkey is waiting in the near future.

In conclusion, Erdogan has had his run, moreover, he has made many positive changes that were fundamental to the country's political system and economy but for the sake of the Turkish people, the unity of the nation, the economy, and to reboot Turkey's foreign policy, Erdogan should leave the highest office and let the youth of AKP take over.

Mourad1 Angela Merkel became chancellor in 2005, did you ever hear western countries calling her dictator, the answer is no. As long as there are fair elections Turkish people will decide who to elect. I think dictating to Turkey to get rid of Erdogen made many people in Turkey to vote for him. The only worry I have is that what will happen after him. Let us hope the AK party will the capacity to nominate a new leader that has the charisma and strengthen of the current President of Turkey.

I like Turkey but leaders should have shelf life.

After that they are defending their mistakes and not thinking forward.

Erdogan now will be very busy about Kurds. They will also have more support in Turkey since most of the opposition prefers peaceful solution. If you think Trump is harrased in America, Erdogan will face more. Opposition will give up of fighting him democratically.

If Erdogan wants to work relatively peacefully focus on China Russia Iran.

OO,

Ethiopia , Somalia  and Sudan have to wait for a while. There are big fish to fry. The world power and economy is shifting to Asia. Turkey will be concentrating on China, Pakistan and central Asia. Since America is becoming protectionist on trade, the EU and others have to find other markets.

Next will be SAudi Arabia. Bin Salman must reduce his reliance on the colonial post called UAE after the conclusion of the Yemen war.Turkey must reduce the tensin between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Merkel and Erdogan have a different style of leadership. I personally believe that Merkel's way of indirect leading and seeking consensus has a particular longevity in Central Europe. However, Erdogan more assertive way of leading can be very polarising in a very violent region. Nevertheless, Turkey is a democratic country and if the country's population wants Recep Tayyip as its president for next decade, it is okay with me. The argument that I am trying to make is that change is a constant, what might be effective today, could be ineffective tomorrow.

Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has brought three members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) from the Central African country Gabon to the Turkish capital Ankara, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on April 10.
Osman Özpınar, İbrahim Akbaş, and Adnan Demirönal, who are believed to be senior members of FETÖ, were detained by Gabon’s security forces on March 23 and transferred from Gabon’s capital Libreville to Ankara by the MİT on a private jet.
A court in the Turkish capital Ankara and a district court in the Central Anatolian province of Konya have issued arrest warrants for Özpınar, the principal of the Gabon Turkish International School and the director of the Light Academy in Kenya.
Warrants have also been issued for Akbaş and Demirönal, former managers of the Ecole Privée International Turco-Gabon. Akbaş was reportedly in charge of money transactions between FETÖ members in Europe and Africa.
All three suspects were users of ByLock, an encrypted mobile phone application used by FETÖ members to communicate during and after the 2016 coup attempt, it was reported.
Some $20,800, 12 million Central African Francs and communication devices found on the suspects were confiscated.

Sudan, Qatar to sign $4 billion deal to develop Suakin seaport

March 2, 2016 (KHARTOUM) - Sudan and Qatar on Monday will sign a partnership agreement worth 4.0 billion dollars to develop and manage Suakin Port in eastern Sudan on the Red Sea.
Sudan has been deprived of foreign investment in its Red Sea ports and terminals due to the economic sanctions on the country while many state and private funds for strategic and commercial reasons invested huge amounts of money in the profitable marine terminal management in different countries in the region.
The deal was announced by the Sudanese Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges Makkawi Mohamed Awad in a joint press conference held in Port Sudan with the Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti.
"Qatar and Sudan have agreed on a new joint partnership for full rehabilitation and management of the port of Suakin as that the signing ceremony will be in Khartoum tomorrow," Awad told reporters.
He further said that the project will be completed by 2020 and will cost four billion dollars, of which 500 million dollars will cover the first phase. Qatar will fund the project but Sudan will hold 51% of its shares while Qatar will get 49%.
He disclosed that the deal has been reached after four meetings held in Doha and Khartoum to discuss plans to modernize the seaport and to make it one of the strategic facilities in the country.
The project includes a free zone and besides the seaport infrastructure.
The minister didn’t say the term of the agreement but generally such concessions awarded for a period between 20 and 50 years. However, in some countries freehold deals are possible.
Awad said his ministry plans to develop the infrastructure of Sudanese seaports to keep pace with the development of maritime transport industry, adding they will work with international companies specialized in the seaports management.
In similar deals with foreign countries or private companies, the parties establish a separation of port authority from the port operator. The latter focuses on profitable commercial services while the former works on policy and regulations.
The visiting Qatari minister who arrived from Doha directly to Port Sudan met on Sunday evening with the Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir in Khartoum.
After the meeting, Al-Sultaiti said he discussed the project with al-Bashir and confirmed the signing of the deal on Monday.
Last December, Sudan and Turkey agreed to develop joint tourism projects in Suakin which was an important port in the Red Sea during the Turkish rule. Also, Angara said it would restore the historical sites of the port.
