Samafal Posted June 20, 2018 ^This is concerned with the new deal signed few years ago. The only other direct aid comes from the UK and it is controlled by them in collaboration with respective ministries.

For us it is the same whether it is signed by China, Xamar, or the jinn as long as the money is given directly to Somaliland. It will be harder for sure. Xamar goverment wants that money themself. I am not sure country like EAU.

The IC were dumbfunded when Failmajo objected to the development of Berbera, and now this? Now that the IC and Somaliland have the same position, we need to pressure for IC to raise Somaliland's status to attend and participate in decision making circles. Xaaji Xunjuf Posted June 21, 2018 The sadaqa is given by the Europeans so they are the only one that can terminate. The koonfurians are themselves beggers.

Bixi actually could prove to be beneficiary. Somalia is in no position to stop USAID, ID Britain, CIDA...But the shear inconvenience will generate so much bitterness not easy to forgive. If one thinks that Somaliand will come begging to the Mogadishu, From past experience in Ethiopia during the worst case famine, it generated the wrong result and people overthrew both the Haileslassie regime and the Mengistu regime. It only generates bitterness and any reconciliation becomes impossible.
maakhiri1 Posted June 21, 2018 This was expected, the air control, and now this, more will follow that will foce SL to negotiating table. Time will exhaust SL.Advice for SL, get a BIG deal while at strong position, and things can change, secession out of question.
Xaaji Xunjuf Posted June 21, 2018 The Europeans are the aid givers.they are the only one that can take it back. Not the amisom protected govt in Mogadishu. The talks between Somalia and Somaliland are dead there won't a any talks between the 2 sides in the next coming decade..there is nothing to.talk about. The status quo is fine for Somaliland with dp world investing a milltary base under construction in berbera.tukaraq annexed. And the koonfurians still being chased by alshabaab
Saalax Posted June 21, 2018 Xaaji Xunjuf times changed. A lot of the past agreements now need the federal government approval which is why the aid givers are writing daily to Villa Somalia in regards to past agreements concerning mamuulka Somaliland. Mourad1 Posted June 22, 2018 Ask yourselves why would anyone leak these letters to the press. Times have changed and a new era has begun. No more to the situations where the Somali government unconditionally agrees with deals that fundamentally question its territorial integrity. From now on, Somaliland has to live with the fact that itself is an unrecognized territory for more than 27 years.

How does an aid given to Somaliland within the framework of the new deal (signed by an FSG administration) undermines the territorial integrity of Somalia? What does Somalia benefit by denying or actually just delaying foreign aid? You will not stop USAID or Inernational development agencies of Canada, Britain, Australia. Lobying one parliamentarian which Somalilanders can do is enough for their foreign offices to find a way. This is an example where some Somalis put effort on pointless politics. This is nothing like UAE/Ethiopia Berbera deal. If Somaliland stays in Somalia, at least you have a region that is better, If Somaliland separates you have millions of Somali who are better than some. Either way its benefit to Somali people.
