Somali Medics SOS

I have a young cousin who needs some work experience (in a hospital) to get onto the medicine course he wants.

He has so far been unfortunate (although very clever with good grades at A level and GCSE).

If anyone could pull a few strings it would be very much appreciated.

I think what really matters is that one has committed himself with any voluntary/charitable cause which truly interested him, ie the local somali community or even blood donations with the NBT.

As for insight into medical careers, why not shadow his GP, interview relations etc

Your cousin needs to get in contact with GP practices, hospital volunteering services, care agencies and nursing homes.

He should try to get some help from his sixth form or start by asking at his own GP practice.

He doesn't have to obtain his experience of healthcare from a hospital per se, and if he's planning to apply during this academic year, time is running out.
