Old_Observer Posted June 4, 2018 USA will be cutting down on its deployment in Somalia. 1. Other more important missions against developed countries like Russia, Iran..etc are more useful 2. Too much public disatisfaction of risks in Niger, Somalia.. 3. Too many civilian casualties with Drones etc Are some of the reasons. Could this affect Somalia government? Could America contract this work to Uganda or Kenya instead? https://www.nation.co.ke/news/US-special-forces-in-Somalia-facing-major-cuts/1056-4595338-142esv3/index.html
galbeedi Posted June 4, 2018 Of course. The Americans will be asking Ethiopia and others to take over the overall security including controlling the sea lanes. We are going back to 1994 when then president Bill Clinton gave the go ahead contract to Meles Zenaw to run Somaliai. Two weeks ago, even the new guy Abiy Ahmed said that " we should not withdraw African forces from Somalia". It is the only trick in the book . If you want to make billions and spare America the bad news and media publicity of soldiers dying in poor dirt Africa, you hire the cheap Ethiopian and African forces who die by the dozens while making few dollars. Ethiopian economy and foreign currency is declining. The Tigray elite had cleaned the banks. They must pay the Chinese and the European loans and the shortest and cheapest way to make money is the war on terror in Somalia .Djibouti Uganda and others will follow. Waa jug meeshaada Joog. The kids in Villa Somalia are taking the info under the table. They are hundred percent on board while showing us their false independence. It is 2014 all over again. galbeedi Posted June 4, 2018 Yet, the only good news that could come from the American orders in that the North East and the north West enclaves will be told to stop the Tukaraq war and fight Al-shabaab together. That is the bottom truth. I would only remind you that the Americans distribute among their client states. Kenya, Uganda, Djibouti, even Sudan each have some contribution. Baidoa or Jowhar are the only two places that Somalia can stand on its two feet. 27 years of fighting in Mogadishu between the two families there is enough. Either one of them should have won by now or both should accept outside group and not be obstacle. Its a stalemate in Mogadishu. You remember when Addis Ababa was stalemate, you remember when kililka was stalemate...nothing gets done..you can not have government bad or good in stalemate. Give it some thought galbeedi, The other day (evening) someone in the group of us raised a question: Why the Adal, Ifat and other sultanates of the Somali/Argoba/Hareri/Afar people never recover, reappear in 600, 300, 200 years? Puntland reconstituted the Boqor in 100 years, even Tigray reconstituted the Xabeshi 100 years (since unlike what we normally say Xabeshi the Tigray are the original and complete Xabeshi). Maybe after end of the holy month, I would like to know what you think, atleast about the Adal that was so high up even went to expand and get submission from Xabeshi, but after being defeated just only once disappeared never to rise again to date. Good of you. No sense the two of them fighting, two bald men fighting for a comb, and suffer the people.
