Gabbal Posted March 14, 2003 I would buy it here in the US if it were being sold, and for the people here who go against it, I would recommend you to change your minds, because I would give my money to a Muslim business than a Zionist kaafir who stands in solidarity with Isreal any day of the week. Like the scramble to mecca board game (the first player to get to mecca and perform pilgrimage wins the game)....you see where it might lead to.... and as for coke cola ( I don't like coke to begin with anyway) I see where you're heading with this SOS but haven't you noticed that non-Muslims are using the name Mecca and making profit from it? There's Mecca bingo in the UK and there's even a music label called Mecca. Those non-Muslims aren't only making a mockery of Islam but they're making money out it as well! Why can't the Muslims take a share of the profits for a change? We live in a commercialised world, we can't change that fact but we can take it and use it to our advantage! Paragon Posted March 14, 2003 Not only that Curlie_Sue....It has also become a word in street language. Mecca meaning a place where there are big crowds, especially shows and other meeting places like clubs, raves and so forth. "Man! this place dan full-up, tis a mecca!" .... I support islamic businesses developing but not on the expense of sacred names(like mecca)as such.

Curly Sue, I know non-Muslims are using the name Mecca out of mockery and making a profit out of it. However, your suggesting we as Muslims follow suit and also use sacred names (of places) on our merchandise and also make a mockery out of our religion? (Call me crazy, but to me that dosen't seem right) It kinda reminds me of those grade school days where the teacher would ask if everyone jumped off a building would you do it? N.O.R.F Posted March 15, 2003 u sea it everyday, ppl trying to make a mockery and so forth, but hey, we are still standing, as long u know what happening around you and its effects on u and yr ppl then ride through it. ps mecca is now called makka, masjid al xaram, so i suppose they have seen whats goin on and changed the name, unless i'm mistaken....... shyhem Posted March 15, 2003 I'm a Mountain Dew guy but for the sake of making a product with a islamic name popular i will buy in dozens and pour it in my sink or give it to my friends.
Curly Posted March 15, 2003 Oh thanks for the subtle piss taking  but I’m fully aware two wrongs don’t make a right! But my question still stands, because us over looking the problem, isn’t going to help either. Those non-Muslim companies will carry on all the same and keep making money out of our religion and even use that money to support causes we’re against. Oh and does anyone know whether or not the name Mecca copyrighted, I wonder? Because that would be a whole other story on its own.
