Somaliland: Social Affairs Ministry, Islamic charity organizations Agree on jointly providing assistance to the Needy

Somaliland Ministry of Employment, Social affairs and family and the Ministry of Religious affairs on Sunday held a joint meeting with of Islamic charity organizations operating in the country at the ministry headquarters.

The closed door meeting was chaired by Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden, the Director –General in Ministry of employment, social and family affairs and his staff, Islamic Ulma from the Ministry of Religious affairs and representatives of Islamic charity organizations.

Moments after emerging from closed door meeting, the Islamic Ulma thanked the Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden, the Director –General I and his for organizing the meeting and they further pledged to work hand in hand with Ministry of employment, social and family affairs on such matters.

Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden thanked the ulma for their attendance and cooperation; he further urged them to intensifying the efforts preaching and teaching Quran especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan and highlighting the Da’awi aspect in its activities and programs, connecting the other work of the organization with calling to Allah the Almighty and His holy book.

“The ministry main work is to promote family values such as the moral and ethical principles traditionally upheld and passed on within a family, as honesty, loyalty, industry, and faith and which are held to promote the sound functioning of the family and to strengthen the fabric of society,” he stated.

The Ministry of Religious affairs Ulma distributed free copies of the Holy Quran before living for other duties.

Afterwards, Ministry of Employment, Social and family affairs officials led by Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden, the Director –General and the representatives of Islamic charity organizations held a meeting meant coordinate their jointly efforts.

Mr. Khadar speaking on behalf of the various Islamic charity organizations operating in the country said, “I would to thank the Ministry of Employment, Social affairs and family for setup this meeting today, during the meeting we had lengthy discussion regarding the work of each organization present here and the guidelines set by ministry and finally we reached an agreement.

Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden speaking after the meeting said, “The aimsof today’s meeting was to promote an inclusive working environment between the ministries of social and religious affairs and Islamic charity organizations that integrates all segments of society while preserving our religious values, culture, heritage and traditions and reinforces social and family cohesion in Somaliland.

He added, “Our programs aim to developing the vulnerable people in our community and liberate them from the clutches of underdevelopment and shall a continue provide assistance to orphans, homeless children and will assess the needs of the families devastate by the recent cyclone.He affirmed the ministry’s keenness to facilitate and ensure the arrival of the aid to those who deserve it most wherever they are in the country.
