  1. This is not necessarily a bad thing, and the Internet was designed the way it is exactly for situations like this. It is a self correcting system In the event of a particular route being down a new route is automatically used. This is one of the major advantages of packet switching networks vs. circuit switching. 'Autonomous Systems' are completely independent, imagine a cable fault in the Mediterranean taking down internet traffic in north America. Two undersea telecommunication cables were cut on Tuesday evening, knocking out Internet access to much of Egypt, disrupting the world's back office in India and slowing down service for some Verizon customers. One cable was damaged near Alexandria, Egypt, and the other in the waters off Marseille, France, telecommunications operators said. The two cables, which are separately managed and operated, were damaged within hours of each other. Damage to undersea cables, while rare, can result from movement of geologic faults or possibly from the dragging anchor of a ship. One of the affected cables stretches from France through the Mediterranean and Red Seas, then around India to Singapore. Known as Sea Me We 4, the cable is owned by 16 telecommunications companies along its route. In defense of the particular network operators involved, Networks are usually designed on the principle that it is highly unprobable that separate ,independent links simultaneously go down. Although more fault tolerance should have been built into the system.

    Gay bomb

Warfare is getting weirder everyday, besides the obvious risk of death, now soldiers are facing other risks like being turned gay. Wright Laboratory won the 2007 Ig Nobel Peace Prize for "instigating research & development on a chemical weapon—the so-called 'gay bomb'—that will make enemy soldiers become sexually irresistible to each other."[1] However, Air Force personnel contacted were not willing to attend the award ceremony at Harvard University's Sanders Theater to accept the award in person. Imagine doing this to Xabash Army,
  3. ^ that's right. We are not the problem, this has always happened and will continue to happen. When a new people with a different culture have migrated to a place that was previously settled by [just replace any filthy backward hick society here] this is the expected outcome. I could take almost anything but Americans calling Somali Dirty ???
  4. waa arin aad u murugo badan, hooyadaas ilaahay ha ka abaalmariyo sabarkeeda.
  5. ^ , salaada noocaas waxa loo yaqaan Ilaahow iga tirso !
  6. ^ On the same day I read this in the paper. there were 7 different cases of young kids (15~18) killing people mutilating animals. The worst thing about these teenage killers is most of the time they kill for no reason. and they get a 'slap on the wrist' because they are under 18. if you grown up enough to kill then you're grown up enough to do the time. are movies, video games to blame ? I don't know... but this trend seems to keep getting worse
  7. ^ maybe not ,but Awareness to online Privacy issues and what should and shouldn't be done has increased greatly the last few years. these days novice computer users, will not open an email attachment from a sender they don't recognize. But shouldn't the same awareness be practiced when dealing with government agencies, companies, employers. I'm not paranoid but doesn't it make sense to be as careful if not more than when you're online.
  8. A Sad yet funny story, about Identity theft Jeremy Clarkson, host of the BBC show Top Gear, recently wrote an article for the U.K.'s Sunday Times in which he ridiculed the uproar that had occurred after the British government admitted to losing two compact discs containing the personal information on 25 million people. To prove his point that there was no risk of financial fraud for those consumers, he published his bank account details, and instructions on how to locate his address. Writing in the Times, he claimed that "All you'll be able to do with [the account numbers] is put money into my account. Not take it out. Honestly, I've never known such a [fuss] about nothing." The following week, he changed his tune after learning that an identity thief with a sense of humor had used the details to create an automatic bank transfer to the charity Diabetes UK. "I opened my bank statement this morning to find out that someone has set up a direct debit which automatically takes £500 from my accoun How serious are you about, protecting your personal information, what steps do you take ? When people hear about Identity theft, they only think about someone hacking into their computer or stealing bank information. I'm guessing 90% SOL users have a combination of Firewall, Ad ware blocker, Anti virus, spam blocker running on their computer. but do you pay as much attention to all the service agreements and contracts you sign ? do you choose the small discount [insert Co. here] offers to share you're information with other Businesses. Large organizations have incredible Data Mining capabilities. complete profiles can built upon a very small amount of information. Are you as careful with personal info as you are with your online activities [bloggin, chatting, banking etc] ?
  9. It is much more complicate. We all have dependents... who live back home. yes there are few lazy ones, but there is also a genuine baahi. instead of sending them a small amount each month. a lump sum for them to go into Business with, is a really good Idea.
  10. hada qax baa lagu jiraa, cid wax taqaan oo wadankii joogta waa adagtahay sidaad ku hesho. A friend of mine, who did his Undergrad in Civil and Grad in Transportation. opened a construction Firm in Mugadhisho. when it was open for 10 dayz, the xabashi came.. he came right back. if you do find anybody probably going to be from the North. it is still pretty stable these days. like tuujiye said, there are some qualified Engineers here in the west. (sorry not civil)
  11. ^ very True At first they say not enough 'Canadian' experience. but once you have it then 'over qualified' becomes the problem. It is easy to give up, but don't, inshalaah something will come along.
  12. Evolution is a myth. Man was created, by Allah not evolved through a bunch of random processes. Echoed by Atheists and logically does not make any sense. About circumcision I truly have no opinion, have never heard it calmly discussed in terms of pro's and cons, medically , religiously, every time it comes up it turns into a battle.
  13. ^ I agree with most of what you say. except the price. Apple produces good machines, but is much more expensive than any clone. from a purely technical perspective, the cost difference does not make sense to me. how do you justify 2 machines that are very similar in terms of specs , yet one of them is $1000 more than the other. sorry but brand name doesn't mean that much to me A clone running any flavor of Linux would agree more with my Jeeb.

    Riwayad

lol@gabadha iga badal ! couldn't understand the half-French/half-Somali words . any tarjumaan in the house !
  15. ^^ very funny walaahi. many ppl can relate to that kind of conversation if you are from either side of Somalia and you ever had a a friend/realtive from the other side it can be funny/frustrating to communicate.
  16. If someone is broadcasting unsecured Wi-Fi signals into my home. I assume permission unless otherwise stated. After all, I was generous enough to allow the Radiation into my home, he/she should be generous enough to share the link. people are going Wi-fi crazy these days. I admit it has it's usefulness (mobility). but if you do not truly need it there is no reason for you to have wi-fi it is less secure , much more slower than cable. The worst wireless devices i can think of is a wireless Mouse/Keyboard. they usually need external power i.e battery, they are very insecure, the advantage of mobility does not apply in this case as you will never move more than a few feet from the system unit.
  17. Doesn't matter how illegal it is... wherever you see somali you will be sure to find that useless plant.

    Syria 2007

, nomads are everywhere. I was in that area around 10 years ago, as a student. many things have changed, Hafiz al asad was the president then[you could not say his name back then or you would be arrested], has that changed with his son ? Isreal still occupied the south of lebanon. i remember a beautiful place in lebanon with roman ruins called Ba'alback, have you visited it ? in my time there i met 1 somali guy, who was passing through .. shame i couldn't speak decent somali.
  20. ^^ The best meat i ever tasted 1. Solay from Boon 2. *** from lafo ciise [cant remember what it was called] 3. Dhaylo from xamar
  21. Musharaf is just as bad a politician there is. but the man has more patriotism for his country than Bhuuto ever did. what i find funny is that, you read an Article that says Bhuuto & her husband are corrupt, greedy etc. but you only choose to believe part of it and the other part becomes hearsay.. be a little more objective walaal. and for throwing around nacalad so lightly a little less emotional outbursts please I was replying to the original poster's question: "What are your memories of her, and what do you think will be the consequences for Pakistan? "
  22. calm down adeer. The first thing i said was "May Allah have mercy on her as she was a muslim." nonetheless she will have to answer for what she did. just because she was a women doesn't make her less corrupt, most politicians are corrupt but she was exceptional in this area she had it down to a science. she was wanted in Switzerland, Spain for money laundering including her husband and her sons. go back and read again and while you are at it read about how corrupt Nawaz sharif is [you'll probably have no problem excepting that as he isa 'MAN']
  23. I sometimes catch myself talking very loudly on international calls. brigs back memories, in somalia the only of calling somebody that lives in the badiya, is via 'taar' it was a mental exercise for me trying to guess what my dear ayeeyo was trying to tell me. over the static now ayeeyo has her own cell phone. but we still talk very loudly when i call her.
  24. ^ I agree May allah have mercy on her as she was a muslim. but she would have been worse for the country then musharaf is/was. She followed the foot steps of her father, It was Zul faqar Ali Bhuto that was a 'moderate muslim leader' [ama muslimiinta reer magaalka ah waxa loo yaqaano] and had a very close relationship with the U.S untill he was Hanged by Great General Zia ul Haq.
