  6. Today I was reading about this new search engine called 'Powerset' if it does accomplish what it is intended for .... it will most likely replace Google as the primary search engine for most people on the web. The problem with current search engine technologies is: 1- They index content of the page, tags, titles so if somebody searches for a word that is in one of the aforementioned parts of a site all the engine has to do is a quick n dirty pattern matching algorithm. 2- lack of abstraction .. for anybody who is skilled in using search engines you have probably picked up a few technical terms such as: - "Key words" (self explanatory) - AND (logical)all of the words must be in the results e.g [tokyo AND earthquake] -OR (logical)either of the words may be in the result e.g [tokyo OR earhquake ] (you can also substitue OR with +) -Negation (should not be included in the result) suppose every time you put in [tokyo AND/OR earthquake] you also get earthquakes all over japan you can explicitly negate them e.g [tokyo AND earthquake -kyoto] -constant strings (words between "") when you want to retrieve an exact phrase in the result e.g [The last day of] you may not consider these terms technical but they are part of the terminology of computer programming languages and boolean algebra. One of the main goals of a software engineer is to abstract as much as possible the user should be able to use the software without knowing or caring about implementation details such as logical operators. Powerset proposes to solve these problems by Powerset is indexing web pages much differently than normal search engines, which generally just record content to match against keyword queries. Instead, Powerset is trying to understand the content on the page so that it can be matched meaningfully to queries later. Even queries that don’t use matching words. and it uses Natural language processing i.e it can accept as input natural language for example in a traditional search engine you would plug in [tokyo, earthquakes] to find out when tokyo was hit by an earthquake but in natural language processing scenario you could do [when did earthquakes hit tokyo ?] and get a much more detailed answer one of the reasons why is ... natural language processing has the ability to work with synonyms i.e the query 'when did earthquakes hit tokyo' will be treated exactly the same as when did earthquakes hit/strike/impact/stagger tokyo thereby getting multiple searches in 1 go the problems facing it in short term is ... it has to index the entire web which can take a long time but currently it has indexed all of wikipedia so you can use for that ... if it does manage to work as expected this will benefit people who spend hours sifting through millions of google results for what they are looking for. A more detailed explanation of how it works including a short video here and the actual engine : powerset
  7. ^ what are you smoking ? -- so the 20 innocent tabliq slaughtered was just our imagination heh ? -- the reports of filthy xabash raping and murdering civilians ? somalida waxay tidhaa 'gaalka dil gartiisa sii' the xabashi troops have been torturing and killing TFG mercenaries so i give them credit for that but otherwise .. they and their slaves/dabo dhilifs/stooges/lackeys/lapdogs are the ones who will be crushed this lopsided BS belongs in the politics section ... another xabashi cheerleader beat you to it though ! *running out of adjectives here*
  8. ^ jimmy hala dhaafo sometimes bahasha way iskaga qasantaa. focus jimmy this is not about geel jire .... but about the death of the filthy xabash swine
  9. ^ a few weeks ago they were torturing them now they are killing them ... they are doing the resistances job for them ....... ha is dhameeyaan hal xabo kama soo hadho !
  10. props to the brave lads .... that carried this out ... ilaahay janada ha ka waraabiyo
  11. ^ well put Kashafa ... they try to paint the resistance as barbarians who only live to fight ... how simplistic & ignorant ... everyone wants peace and stability but at what price ? do you propose we lay down for the xabash so they can walk all over us ? . as a wise general once said 'we fight today so that we dont have to fight tomorrow !' .... if the resistance does not continue in their noble cause ... what the Ethiopians have been doing is going to seem like child's play .... they slaughter innocent civilians when they know they might face retaliation what do you think they will do when they have immunity ? open your eyes people this is not an academic exercise or a multiple choice exam this is a fight for survival bending over for the xabash is not an option .... if it works the tfg have been doing it from day one and still they are considered lap dogs .... anyone remember a recent incident of ethiopians torturing tfg soldiers ? .. if that is how they treat their doormats what do you expect ? hadii la dhimanayana dhareerka waa la iska duwaa !
  12. qof aan rabin nabad iyo xasilooni ma jiro ... lakin at what price ?
  13. one of the problems with this idea is that Ethiopia and Eritaria do not have the same influence over the respective sides (TFG,resistance) to suggest so, is dishonest & counter productive to any talks. 1- Eritiria hosted the resistance for some time , so has sudan and egypt and now djabouti they do not provide funding or arms to the resistance and they certainly do not protect them. 2- the TFG owes it's entire existence to the Ethiopians ... A/Y rode into xamar atop an Ethiopian tank ....they can only remain in power at the whim of zenawi .... TFG cannot survive 1 day without the Ethiopians. to point fingers at the resistance and say 'Eriteria is your equivalent of Ethiopia' is complete BS
  14. ^ I have been using Vmware products for the last 3 years and it is really great i heard about the ms virtual pc but i have not used it yet. i use Vmware server to create the OS images but Vmware player to run them on different machines ... it is much lighter ( in terms of resources ) my configuration is reverse ... i have linux running on vmware images on top of winxp and vists .. because of lack wlan support for the linux.
  15. ^ I think it is called the synaptics package manager although it's command line equivalent is 'sudo apt-get install' (at least in the BASH shell) the GUI is excellent but i agree it is the single best part of ubuntu the entire repository at your finger tips
  16. LOL this is priceless we had an almost similar case ... this guy who slept in the mosque for more than a year who asks too many questions got outed as working for the gov a few weeks ago ... got arrested on minor drug stuff but it was satisfying anyway i hate jaasuus !
  17. ^ that is the most filthy BS you have come up with to date ... WTF ??? The reward to that, according to their destructive ideology is Janna and Hurul Cayn (beautiful virgins). you now mock the principles of islam is not the objective of every muslim jannah ? I remember hearing that same BS from fox news .... 'they commit terrorism because they were promised 72 virgins oh what ignorant fools haha' ... their tone is understandable because they dont beleive in jannah or hurul cayn .... by adopting the same tone do you share their beliefs as well ? amazing the same filth spewed by ignorant bigots from one of our so called brothers ... youre going too far in advocacy for the indefensible swine ee ninyahow is dabo qabo !
  18. Xiin si guracan ayaad wax u fahantahay adeer. what i find amazing are those on the TFG side of the fence who refuse to discuss Ethiopia as if it is not relevant to what's going on .. comments like ethoipa ku waalateen etc. honestly speaking what can the tfg offer to the resistance that would result in peace if not the withdrawal of Ethiopians forces ... they have absolutely nothing else to bargain with that would interest the resistance.
  19. kan qoray article-ka waa xabashi magaca yuun idin sirin.
  20. ^ is that not one of the main reasons we are at the table in the first place ? what other bargaining chip do the tfg have if not the illusion they can kick the Ethiopians out ? it's funny how you guys try to make the Ethiopian issue irrelevant when in fact th tfg owes its entire existence to the tigre's and would not be sitting at the table if not for them ... do you propose on sidestepping the elephant in the room ?
  21. seriously i was taking notes for a week before my expirement .... xalimos have an unscientific way of cooking absolutely no metrics to follow... they tell you markuu bislaado but they dont give u temperatures and times or even measurements like the cookbooks ... i was told not to use the cookbooks but follow the directions to the . that got me in trouble
  22. ^ it was my first time .. i was told not to add anything to the pot until the oil makes the sizzle sound (i had notes beside me)... but because of the water that was not possible im much better now what i cook is somewhat edible these days but after that incident my cousin was cooking for me for a year .... i certainly cashed in on the sympathy
  23. ^ lol reminds me of when i fist started cooking ... had to learn a few things the hard way i put a pot on the stove that had some water in it ... added some oil and i waited it to give me the sizzling sound (following directions ) - i kept turning the heat up but no sizzle for 30 minutes - then a drop of water from my hand fell into the pot  ... a flame the size of the pot hit the ceiling and wouldn't stop - i kept pouring more water but it got worse .. the ceiling and walls turned black and the pot was melted one side. moral of the story: make sure the pot is completely dry before adding the oil.
  24. ^ the distro i was talking about was ubuntu ... i'll give opensuse a try if it can detect wireless nics .. but from what i understand the problem is with the hardware vendors not giving the specs/API to the linux developers or not writing drivers for the linux OS. -ndiswrapper emulates windows in that it makes the wireless nic think it is running in a windows environment it has worked for me a few times but i cant get it to work on my latest update. - regarding the compatibility issue it's getting better for example if you use Open office instead of ms office you can now save word documents in the .doc format instead of the native .odf ditto for .xls this is why i use open office but still save in windows file formats... for commonly used win apps you can probably find a work around but games and custom built software have a lot of catching up to do. another positive is KDE and GNOME have gotten much better as a result the learning curve for the average person migrating from windows is not that steep
  25. ^ the article says that it does not show anatomical details ... but it does have the capability and the potential to be misused ... proximity sensors fine tuned to detect guns, explosives etc. have been out for decades the camera is a bit over kill
