you could become a teacher back home. my specialization is hardly applicable in the event of a reconstruction effort. but these thoughts started entering my mind in my final year. that's why i admire people who choose their majors with 'how can it help my people in mind' ... people studying development related fields. and there are some who go even further and tailor their thesis with Somalia in mind ... deserves respect runtii

Asalamu calaykum sh. Nur I am in a bit of a pickle and I could not find anything related to my issue on the net. marka hadii aad wax igu kordhin kartid iyo haduu jiro qof arintaan oo kale haysato inuu ku faa'idaysto. As you can guess from the title it is related to this season and the whole gift exchange thing. The last month we have had non stop Christmas parties at work and I have received gifts many times usually they are small inconsequential things like chocolate or cards .... but this season things have changed. I was promoted a few months back .. and besides the technical nature of my work I am now expected to 'cultivate' clients ... loosely meaning take them out for dinner which includes drinking... for this we have an 'entertainment budget' that you are not supposed to fall short of .. I have been able to avoid it all together by making excuses and with the help of a coworker who takes them off my hands in some cases. The problem I have with the 'entertainment' is .. although the money being spent is not mine ... the card has my name on it and I have to sign off on the expenses. another problem I have with the company card is ever since I received it .. I keep getting calls from my bank .. they informed me that I got a big bump in credit ratings because of the company card .. which means I did get some benefit from it .. although indirectly. A few days ago ..when I came into my office there was a huge basket with chocolates, cheese and an expensive bottle of wine from a client that was happy with the work we did for him ... my boss knows I do not drink and when he heard I was planning to return it .. he asked me not to and that it would give a bad impression but next year .. that he would tell them not to send wine. My friend who helped me avoid the entertainment problem many times asked me to give it to him (he is Muslim .. well Ismaili anyway)... so here is my problem ... I do not want to give it to anybody and be responsible for their drinking .. my first idea was to flush it down the toilet. but that would be shooting my self in the foot for future entertainment outings ... bal talo keen sh nur ? qorshaha way iigu jirtaa wadankaan inaan iskaga tago ... lakin inta laga gaadhayo wakhtigaas howlahaan sidaan u maarayn lahaa ayaan ku wareersanahay.

In an age of sexual liberation, marriage between cousins remains taboo, at least in the United States — and from a scientific perspective, laws against the unions are a socially legitimized form of genetic and sexual discrimination. That argument, raised Monday in an editorial in Public Library of Science Biology, may turn the stomachs of people raised to disapprove of any form of incest. But dispassioned analysis suggests that cousin marriage is no more troubling than childbearing by middle-aged women. "Women over the age of 40 are not prevented from childbearing, nor is anyone suggesting they should be, despite an equivalent risk of birth defects," write zoologists Hamish Spencer and Diane Paul. Bans against cousin marriage, they say, should be repealed, "because neither the scientific nor social assumptions that informed them are any longer defensible." Thirty-one states outlaw marriage between first cousins, making the United States the only developed country in which the practice is regularly banned. Most were passed in the Civil War's aftermath — not, say Spencer and Paul, to reduce the chance of defects caused by combination of deleterious genes, but as part of a radical expansion of government authority over private lives. But their argument is far from consensus: in Forbidden Relatives: The American Myth of Cousin Marriage, Kansas State University anthropologist Martin Ottenheimer argues that the bans were driven by now-discredited 19th century research on birth defects among children born to first cousins. It's a form of discrimination that nobody talks about. People worry about not getting health insurance — but saying that someone shouldn't marry based on how they're related, when there's no known harm, to me is a form of discrimination," said Robin Bennett, a University of Washington genetic counselor who led the NSGC study. story A very interesting article that puts to bed the myth that children born to cousins have a higher chance of being born with defects ... and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it scientifically. It is strange though the same people who find the the perversely depraved idea of homosexuality fine and dandy (no put intended).. have their sensibilities offended by cousins marrying.

In Somali shukansi isn't it assumed that you proposed by default as soon as the shukaansi starts .. and after a year or so the wedding plans begin with or without your input ... and if that is not the case dacwaan qabaa I was strong armed a few times thankfully though my iskaabulinimo is still intact

^ I gotta agree with NG on this one. most of the hate was directed at Yey because he was the head cheerleader ... Nur cade sought and held the post of PM while Ethiopia was occupying Somalia. He was the one who was making excuses for the xabash when they slaughtered those people inside the masjid ... Worst case scenario he is as a traitorous snake as yey is .... best case he is a spineless low-life who hides behind 'peace initiative' while his people are being slaughtered. I don't see the logic in opposing yey on the one hand and supporting N. cade or any of the other bottom feeders in the parliament.

Originally posted by Capo: Instead the shame is with us for producing such an individual, but let us be honest there are so many venal characters out there that are willing to do what yeey did for a pittiance, that is why I have always found it hard to share the almost hysterical hatered that some have for yeey. Frankly I know that it is the mentality of qabilism that kills and poisons every somali endevour towards peace, if so yeey is just an individual manifestation maybe the purest and most lacking in shame manifestation, but a manifestation all the same. POst yeey politics will be the same as pre yeey politics namely a struggle between those who are trying to genuinely unite and uplift the lives of somalis and those that think kow towing to the wants and needs of members of the international community will lead to their own personal dictatorship. I couldn't have said it much better myself sxb ... for the last few years waxaan lahaa kan ummada duleeyay ilaahow hal mar na dhaafi .. but now it is very close to being a reality and the alternatives are not much better than yey .. they will take up stooge duty without even a hiccup and that is the sad part ... wixii raganimo , wadanimo iyo damiir lahaa xagee ka baxeen ?

As a prank, students from local high schools have been taking advantage of the county's Speed Camera Program in order to exact revenge on people who they believe have wronged them in the past, including other students and even teachers. Students from Richard Montgomery High School dubbed the prank the Speed Camera "Pimping" game, according to a parent of a student enrolled at one of the high schools. Originating from Wootton High School, the parent said, students duplicate the license plates by printing plate numbers on glossy photo paper, using fonts from certain websites that "mimic" those on Maryland license plates. They tape the duplicate plate over the existing plate on the back of their car and purposefully speed through a speed camera, the parent said. The victim then receives a citation in the mail days later. Students are even obtaining vehicles from their friends that are similar or identical to the make and model of the car owned by the targeted victim, according to the parent. "This game is very disturbing," the parent said. "Especially since unsuspecting parents will also be victimized through receipt of unwarranted photo speed tickets. The parent said that "our civil rights are exploited," and the entire premise behind the Speed Camera Program is called into question as a result of the growing this fad among students. The Speed Camera Program was implemented in March of this year and used for the purpose of reducing traffic and pedestrian collisions in the county. Cameras are located in residential areas and school zones where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or lower. A $40 citation is mailed to the owner of the car for violating the speed limit in these areas. story The thing that bothers me about this story is the $40 speeding ticket ... I once got a $150 for being a few KM/H over the limit and a red light camera ticket of $289 (later reduced to $80) some of the kids should start doing it here !

I found this beautiful winter poem and thought it might be a comfort to you. It was to me, and it's very well written. It's not long and it's awesome literature! No maudlin sentimentality, no harping on about the changing of the seasons. I think everyone will do well to try to memorize these beautiful and poignant words about Winter. .-- Anonymous WINTER a poem by Abigail Elizabeth McIntyre 'SH!T, It's Cold !' The End
