  1. The closest I've heard is four wives all living across the street from each other. i've seen xabashi with two wives living in the same house .. lakin dumarka somalida it is a bit more difficult. haday xogaa soo dabci lahaayeen howsha intaan way ka fududaan lahayd.
  2. Maalin wanaagsan Nomads. maxaa isku dhacaya ? I am expereincing coma inducing boredem, I need work to day just to stay awake.
  3. I think it is something to be ashamed about especially in these times .. where innocent muslims are dying at the hands of American/ canadian/U.K/NATO forces. I met one guy who returned from afghanistan ... and acted all proud like he deserved a pat on the back .. but most of the people were eyeing him like he was a cockroach.
  4. salaam Norf hows everything sxb ? there must be something else to this story locking them in a closet should not have killed them unless they were already starved almost to death.
  5. Maalin wanaagsan maryooley. maxaa isku dhacaya ? Im starting to get fidgety work is getting slow and getting paid to do very little is not as fun as it would seem. day-day baan bilaabi dhawaan haday wax isbadali waayaan
  6. JacaylB ONLF are in survival mode assuming that they can take time off from fighting to , how exactly are they hurting SL or their interests ? SL disagreements/confrontations with PL is understandable i.e border disputes SL disagreements/confrontatinos with Somalia makes sense i.e unity vs secession but what possible motive does SL have to hinder the ONLF and act as a branch of the xabashi army ? im serouly trying to understand bal iiga jawaab
  7. I dont understand the problem with SL Solers. at the bare minimum you should be morally supportive of the ONLF efforts in fighting xabashi. why should you guys be siding with the xabashi against the ONLF ? cynically even if you are willing to do anything that furthers recognition .. actively hunting these brave fighters and willing to be an extension of the xabashi army is a humiliating level to sink to, dont you think ? I dont think they could have moved 150 KM without detection ... some good muslims somalis who sympathized with their cause must have looked the other way .. I surely would have if I were an SL police/military/border that is the least I could contribute to their effort.
  8. not very. I wouldnt go out of my way to recycle. if the blue bin is placed in a convenient location I will use it otherwise i will just toss it into the trash. but not wasting water is very important .. you grow up appreciating water scarcity so I dont like to waste it. I was considernig buying a hybrid but a new study just came out that says the price premium on a hybrid as compared to its non-hybrid atlernative does not make up the difference in $$$ saved at the pump. so I am serously reconsidering because my motives were purely economical and had nothing to do with the environment
  9. some of you are shameless .. waxaad socotaanba you should be ashamed to be related to this cockroach and yet here you are singing the praises of none other than the worst of the worst .. the lowest of the low. the man who exemplifies dulinimo in every sense of the word .. Abdullahi amxaar horaa loo yidhi fiqi tolkii kama jano tago ..marka maxaan idinkula yaabi. oh, ciid wanaagsan gents
  10. Ciid Wanaagsan maryooley ilaahay hanaga aqabalo soonka camalka wanaagsan aan samaysanay. ku gaadha sanadkan kiisa kale cafimaad iyo cibaado suuban

  14. DENVER — Muslim Somali workers at two JBS Swift & Co. meatpacking plants in Colorado and Nebraska face ongoing harassment because of their race and religion, including being prevented from getting a drink at one of the plants after fasting all day during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleges . A lawsuit filed by the EEOC late Monday in U.S. District Court in Denver alleges JBS officials shut off water fountains at its Greeley meatpacking plant, keeping Muslim Somali workers from getting a drink at sundown. The suit says the water fountain incident happened in September 2008 and is part of a pattern of religious and racial harassment that continues at the plant. Workers also are denied prayer time and face termination for asking to pray, according to the lawsuit, which names as plaintiffs more than 80 current and former employees. A second lawsuit filed by the EEOC in U.S. District Court in Omaha, Neb., alleges similar acts at the company's meatpacking plant in Grand Island, Neb. Swift officials did not immediately return messages. Many workers named in the suit could not be reached for comment. The lawsuit claims that Muslim workers trying to pray at the Greeley plant have been denied bathroom breaks, and are regularly harassed when they pray during their scheduled breaks or in the bathroom, with co-workers or managers using racist slurs and curse words. One restroom had graffiti with the words, "f--- Somalians," f--- Muslims," and "f--- Mohammed." The Greeley plant was where 270 Hispanic employees were detained after a raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in 2006. At least a hundred Somalis began working at the plant following the raids. The lawsuit alleges that management knew or should have known about the harassment and acted with "malice or with reckless indifference" to the workers' rights. Despite complaints and suggestions for accommodations from workers, the EEOC alleges the company's practices date back to December 2007. "If there's bad behavior in the company, people know what will be tolerated or if it will be punished," said Mary Jo O'Neill, the EEOC's regional attorney based in Phoenix who filed the lawsuit. "No one should have to endure being called those names in order to have work and support a family." The workers' treatment at the plant came to a head during Ramadan in September 2008 when about 100 Muslims at the plant, who fast during the day during the holiday, asked company officials to move the plant's scheduled lunch break so they could break their fast at sunset. Officials agreed and switched the lunch break from 9:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Three days later, the company changed the lunch hour to 8 p.m., shut off or cordoned off water fountains and posted management employees around the plant to enforce the change, according to the lawsuit. At their lunch break a half hour later than negotiated, Muslim workers were told to go outside to pray. They weren't allowed back into the plant. Days later, several were fired for what the company said was an unauthorized work stoppage, the suit alleges. The lawsuit seeks reinstatement of the workers with back pay, changes to policies and procedures to accommodate Muslim workers, payment for past and future damages, and punitive damages to be determined at trial. A hearing date has not been scheduled.
  15. ^ marka hora is deji walaal part of my post was in response to you and part was to prevous posters. first of all the things you claim that the 'west' has done for you .. are all material things and I think you are exagerating a little bit or you need to work on your self confidence. anigu waan idin la yaabanahay but it must be because we have different backgrounds I did not grow up here nor was I educated here except for grad school which I paid for so I have a different perspective. waxaad cuni lahayd iyo meeshaad mari lahayd are all written before you were born .. and shukr is due to Allah & none else. I dont know about you but I am a contributing member of society I pay taxes, thus the education, safety and services you refer are things I am entitled to and I dont feel I should be grateful to receive. I chose to live here, but I could have taken my edcuation, knowledge and considerable skills elsewhere. nothing has been given to me on a silver platter. what I own or have accomplished are due to the graces of allah and my hardwork and I dont owe the west or anybody else my first born just because I live here. anyway this discussion has gone in an entirely different direction than intended and it is the last 10 of ramadan .. marka hadalka badan aan macno lahayn ma wanaagsana sidaas darteed anigu sheekadan waan ka baxay sidaa iyo nabad gelyo
  16. ^ oohinta aad ku jeesjeeso hadaad ogaad lahayd qiimaha ay leedahay sidaas uma daac-daacsateen. a'imo badan baa ooya markay salaad ku jiraan .. iyagoo la qushuucsan iyadaha ilaahay ay akhrinayaan. ama ka xun dhibka iyo rafaadka walaalahood muslimiinta haysata.
  17. ^ im curious what exactly is wrong with isreal ilaahay ha halaago. are we soo pc that we cannot call our enemies our enemies anymore ? and if you truly have a problem with that part of the dua ... than are you aware that while you recite the Fatah in every rakat you pray "Al-maghduubi calayhim" refers to them ? there is such a thing as taking pc too far. @NG I know sxb .. but it still irks me that muslims would go so far to appease those who slaughter their brothers by the boutload without any remorse and they have reservations of saying amin to a dua ... I had no idea that some of you were this far gone EDIT the prophet ordered us to at the bare minimum hate in your heart the munkar .. surely the wholesale slaughter of your brothers/sisters is much worse ? so i repeat even if you are powerless to do anything about it today or even afraid to speak .. shouldnt you at least hate them will all you heart ?
  18. Caalimkan sharafta leh oo umada u duceeyey, cadowga allena habaaray bay wax ka sheegayaan oo weliba isla qumanyihiin. A question for you 'civilized' & 'enlighted' peace lovers. for this month of ramadan I've attended taraawix prayers at 5 different masjids and during the dua of the witr prayer .. in every occasion the imaam makes a dua for the mujaahidin fii soomaal .. no doubt you have come across this .. what is your reaction ?
  19. Mabruuk Walaal kii diintiiisa iyo dadkiisa anfaco allaha ka dhigo. your in for some rough nights for a while.
  20. Excellent piece. I had similar misgivings about the ethiopia peace deals .. and the ones supporting xabashi/AU mercanaries in xamar. although his point about sufis is off the mark ..
  21. AUGUST 23--The Department of Justice is seeking to hire linguists fluent in Ebonics to help monitor, translate, and transcribe the secretly recorded conversations of subjects of narcotics investigations, according to federal records. The DEA’s need for full-time linguists specializing in Ebonics is detailed in bid documents related to the agency’s mid-May issuance of a request for proposal (RFP) covering the provision of as many as 2100 linguists for the drug agency’s various field offices. Answers to the proposal were due from contractors on July 29. In contract documents, which are excerpted here, Ebonics is listed among 114 languages for which prospective contractors must be able to provide linguists. The 114 languages are divided between “common languages” and “exotic languages.” Ebonics is listed as a “common language” spoken solely in the United States. Ebonics has widely been described as a nonstandard variant of English spoken largely by African Americans. John R. Rickford, a Stanford University professor of linguistics, has described it as “Black English” and noted that “Ebonics pronunciation includes features like the omission of the final consonant in words like ‘past’ (pas’ ) and ‘hand’ (han’), the pronunciation of the th in ‘bath’ as t (bat) or f (baf), and the pronunciation of the vowel in words like ‘my’ and ‘ride’ as a long ah (mah, rahd).” Detractors reject the notion that Ebonics is a dialect, instead considering it a *******ization of the English language. The Department of Justice RFP does not, of course, address questions of vernacular, dialect, or linguistic merit. It simply sought proposals covering the award of separate linguist contracts for seven DEA regions. The agency spends about $70 million annually on linguistic service programs, according to contract records. In addition to the nine Ebonics experts, the DEA’s Atlanta office also requires linguists for eight other languages, including Spanish (144 linguists needed); Vietnamese (12); Korean (9); Farsi (9); and Jamaican patois (4). The Atlanta field division, one of the DEA’s busiest, is the only office seeking linguists well-versed in Ebonics. Overall, the “majority of DEA’s language requirements will be for Spanish originating in Central and South America and the Caribbean,” according to one contract document. The Department of Justice RFP includes a detailed description of the crucial role a linguist can play in narcotics investigations. They are responsible for listening to “oral intercepts in English and foreign languages,” from which they provide verbal and typed summaries. “Subsequently, all pertinent calls identified by the supervising law enforcement officer will be transcribed verbatim in the required federal or state format,” the RFP notes. Additionally, while “technology plays a major role in the DEA’s efforts, much of its success is increasingly dependent upon rapid and meticulous understanding of foreign languages used in conversations by speakers of languages other than English and in the translation, transcription and preparation of written documents.” Story I know a couple of kids who can add 1 more bullet point to the skills section of their resume.
  22. LST I noticed the exact same thing on the somali/ethiopia border at multiple points. meesha dhulka somalida ka bilaabanto is like a desert .. a few meters into the other side the earth is dark and rich.
