The tenth day of Muharram,it is recommended to fast the day before Ashoora and on da day of Ashura itself. Abu Hurayrah (ra) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (saw) said: ‘The best of fasting after Ramadaan is fasting Allaah’s month of Muharram.’” (reported by Muslim, 1982). The Prophet (saw)said: “For fasting the day of ‘Aashooraa’, I hope that Allaah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before.” (Reported by Muslim, 1976). Also Imaam al-Nawawi (ra) said: “It expiates for all minor sins, i.e., it brings forgiveness of all sins except major sins.” It is recommended to fast two days to be different from the Jews,so muslims fast the day before Ashoora and the day of Ashoora itself. My calender says the tenth is on Saturday 19th but i read somewhere tenth is on Friday... can anyone confirm? tnxs in advance.

Its true that somalia (along wid many other countries) is really not ready for the sort of democracy that works for these western countries. but I think focussing on tribe will only serve to divide ppl rather dan unite them. So wot will work for Somalia? Well the Islamic Courts were doing a good job...

yes I know a few of these kinda kids two, in an out of prison. The problem is it is soooo much easier to be on the streets, hanging out, trying to figure out how to make quick money than at home wid family, studying or planning a future,esp if home is not a stable place wid lots of younger siberlings demanding attention. We cant jst dismiss the situation of these kids, most are not lucky enough to live wid their mums, most dnt understand somali v. well thus cannot communicate wid their parents and most have many friends in similar situation. None of them believe they will end up in prison and if they do its often too late to change life around. I feel for the parents especially those of the older generation. If these boys are lost we need to make sure we dnt have another lost generation.That we do all we can to help and support our younger somalis and try an help them steer clear of trouble.
