  1. ^ They are huge! What great pics, beach looks like a beautiful place to spend a few days. MarshAllah, make the time of your time there.
  2. Alpha no one is forcing you, feel free to continue your life in lala land. Mr Somalia, jzk for taking the time to sign it, however you need a valid email address as they do an email confirmation before they add your name to the petition. Other peeps, pls take two minutes to sign up, its disgusting things like this are happening in this so called enlightened democracy.
  3. Salaama Alaikum ppl, Please take a few minutes to sign this petition to encourage the government to put Babar Ahmad on trial in the UK, there needs to be more than 100,000 signitures to debate this issue in parliament. They only have about 24 000 @ the moment. http://www.freebabarahmad.com/ More information about the case. Babar Ahmad is a 37 year old British Muslim and the longest detained-without-charge British detainee held as part of the global ‘war on terror’. In December 2003 Babar was arrested at his London home under anti-terror legislation. By the time he reached the police station Babar had sustained at least 73 forensically recorded injuries, including bleeding in his ears and urine. Six days later he was released without charge. In August 2004 Babar was re-arrested in London and taken to prison pursuant to an extradition request from the US under the controversial, no-evidence-required, Extradition Act 2003. The US has alleged that in the 1990s Babar was a supporter of “terrorism”. Babar denies any involvement in terrorism. He has now been in prison for six years even though he has not been charged in the UK.
  4. Baashi, the article does not mention the friday prayer which as you say would take much longer than ten minutes. However most of these drivers seem to be women who are asking to pray the salats that are during the working day. Also the company says that those muslims who clocked out whilst the prayed were not asked to leave. It seems to me though that the company is over reacting. If that is the policy they want for their workers they need to enforce it properly and tell their employees about the consequences if they ignore their rules. I don't think these women wouldn't risk their jobs for the sake of not clocking out.

    A Nose Job!

Its very easy to want to follow the crowd and do what everyone else is doing and in this way gain acceptance.

If blending in means keeping quiet and being afraid to fulfil the tenents of your faith though they may seem alien to others then I see that as wrong and cowardly and not these people who are trying to hold on to their faith in tough conditions. If the company has asked them to clock out while they pray that seems very reasonable.
  7. As everyone has said, a good boss has little to do with gender. Not sure why you are apprehensive, especially since you are not even in the same state as her! I have had mainly female bosses and line managers, most have been great and very sensitive although I have seen some women really can have a mean streak and when they have it in for someone, that person is marked for the firing line. Seen that happen a few times. If you're doing your job to the best of your ability you got nothing to worry about, if you're spending all your time on SOL like the rest of us then she might notice something fishy. Also women tend to have other issues with women so I dnt think you have very much to worry about.
  8. Juxa, a good point but the satisfaction would be immense. I remember in secondary school throwing a chair at this boy who made my head itch so much and the boy catching the chair and throwing it back. The school wasn't actually that rough, it was just in RE class, when everyone made their own rules while the teacher was having a break down getting divorced, still not sure why he told us that.
  9. If only you could reach into the computer and smack people.
  10. I find a get homesick whenever Iam away from London for more than a week. Bham/Lecis/Cardiff are nice but too quiet for ppl used to the chaos of Ldn town. As someone has mentioned the good thing about Ldn is there is always so mch going on. I agree though its too much of an urban environment to spend your whole life and to bring children up in, who I can imagine find it v. tough going.
  11. ^ I heard that its going to be snowing next week!
  12. Did you just call me a man fresh blood? Do you know I can terminate your account with immediate effect? Hi Alpha, full of compliments as usual. I know you once boasted about being the youth of SOL but you now need to move aside. As for tying the knot which is niether here nor there, tell me did you ever marry the local girl you spoke of? So much waffle its easy to get confused
  13. Ilaahay ha uu naxariisto. Noone can imagine his grief. We ask Allah to grant them jannah and to grant him patience.
  14. I used to love Anwar Al-Awlaki back in the day, Allah knows best what is true and what is false but we know this much, this man was knowlegable about the deen, he spread what knowledge he had far and wide and he had an obvious love for Allah and His religion. May Allah forgive him his sins and grant him a high place in jannah. I was shocked when I heard this on Friday.
  15. That baby is cute marshAllah that's about the only thing i gathered from all this.
  16. Ahhh the young blood of SOL, the future! haha. The average age of SOL is aging! An that's how its always seemed to be. Welcome aboard young 'uns
  17. Series The killing (original danish version) was brilliantly made, intriguing and a great whodoneit with lots of other bits in between although 20 hours is a tad too long in retrospect. The misfits began as a great series but quickly became v. dirty so won't be returning for next series.
  18. they look like they have been waiting for their orders for a long time. Mo has found his identical brother on his travels.
