  1. In my previous university, I knew a Korean once, he hardly spoke a word like this one. Was always in his room too. They are strange people.
  2. I always find these asian people, weird.
  3. Huunguri, I can't confirm it. I can't read or write Somali. I'm primary illiterate, if you call it that.
  4. That's true, but these people are a reflection of society as a whole. People get the leaders they derserve. The more backward a society is, higher chance they will have a dog of people leading them.
  5. 88 Iraqis were killed yesterday............
  6. Saw these pictures on Flickr of Borama and it's countryside, can't believe how green and pleasant that land is. http://flickr.com/photos/69603419@N00/
  7. I'm glad it was a Asian who done it. If it was a Muslim who done this, all of Somalia would be bombed right now. Those Chinese, South Koreans etc. They have a butter in the mouth wouldn't melt air about them. Well now, they are not so perfect after all. Here where I work in Milan, Italy, just 3 days ago, there was the first ethnic riot in Italy ever. The Chinese immigrants against the Italian police. Who fought in their town's chinatown.
  8. I.M Lewis is said to be THE expert on Somalis in the UK. It tells you something when he writes a article like that. Interestingly, he done another piece in the past where he advocated independence for Somaliland.
  9. Reports of torture in Ethiopia are widespread Bush says prime minister is committed to human rights http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/04/16/MNGB9P9C5H1.DTL The above report is a god send. It really is. Have you noticed how slowly, the butter in the mouth wouldn't melt Ethiopia is facing article after article of uncomfortable scrutiny of it. Last week, revelations of war crimes in Somalia, broke, today Bush himself is being asked questions about the situation in Ethiopia. The door is opening.
  10. Originally posted by TheSomaliEconomist: peacenow, are you insinuating that the ICU had bringed forth the opportunity for Somalia to embark on an extreme makeover á la S.Korea? Last year, you would have learned. That, I was one of the most ardent crictics of the ICU. I don't like religion and I don't want the worst excess of Arab culture to be transplanted into Somalia ala' the ICU. They keep their underwater hotels and shopping malls, but exporting u]absurdities like banning cinema and music. No thank you. But I recognise, that I certainly don't favour a Ethiopian controlled entity like the TFG, either. That in my opinion has cancelled it's potential benefits. Quite frankly, since it is in cahoots with it, it can join it. Over in Ethiopia, that is. I look over to the east, in countries I have spent well some time Singapore and Malaysia. And can only marvel at them. Singapore especially. Singapore done it by growing at the rate of 8% on average, from the period of 1960 to 1999. Somalia in 1960 was better of than either of them. There is nothing about Somalia, that can't replicate them. Quite frankly we need to reject Arab and Black culture and instead use the long coast that we have and look east. So much need done and can.
  11. Quite frankly who cares if Australians hate muslims. Somalis are more concerned about the problems of the Arabs, then they are of Somalis themselves. Do you think any muslim in the world today, cares about Somalis? No. Save a thought for the poor orphan child going to bed hungry in Xamar tonight.
  12. In 1960. Somalia was richer and had a better future than South Korea. Look at South Korea, today!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/16544054@N00/401781783/in/set-72157594482989783/
  13. Senator Coleman of Minnesota wrote to her yesterday. I admire the way he and Senator Feingold have taken a interest in Somalia. Of note, he took up the issue of Ethiopian occupation of the country and calling for national inclusive talks. Very good work on behalf of the Somali community in that state, which I believe is huge. If only there were big Somali communities in every state. You can see the letter he wrote to her yesterday here. http://www.somalitalk.com/2007/apr/12apr807.html
  14. Originally posted by Captain Xalane: quote:Originally posted by peacenow: any place from which a bullet is fired we will bombard it, regardless of whoever is there." I didn't write that and neither did the speaker write it.Its a military maxim, one that always has been there and one that will always be there.quell force with force, fire with fire and power by power.Simple terms indeed. No dear, you are mixing up the words of the great uncle and yourself again. This is another comment that your co-consipirators on here wrote on the situation. ''Its better to massacre that to stay without a government forever''
  15. Unbelievable! and he is doing it in the Guardian https://commentisfree.guardian.co.uk/mt/comment_handler.cgi?entry_id=015450&gu_ticket=QCYLeimG9SQeqwYuOnrCVhfJz%2fguHC%2fygetd1aQJgfzygdHWBbQDJqLRH86grfalOcqguJplQIOj0vHpJ1u5%2fAaH HX73hRmEtDfI7FbZfPw8Kbbk5ROvhBjWpD9EsvyS out of all places. Halgeel84 will have a field day. I'm very suspious of this man and what he has been upto in the past. Seems with his work in Zimbabwe and so, he has been at Africa's throat. The white man' burden personified. Now he is writing about 'Somaliland' in another ill informed attack. No doubt to be joined by the infamous and patriotic Somali 'Halgeel84' soon. Seems it will be fun.

They have taken the language of their uncle, that benevolent financier of their villas in Nairobi. This is their uncle talking about the massacre in Xamar. "any place from which a bullet is fired we will bombard it, regardless of whoever is there."
  17. Northerner, this is what we understand, most of us here at least. I'm writing, message after message to journalists in the Western press urging, them to take up the issue of what is happening in Somalia today. This is the response I got today from the deputy editor of the The Guardian newspaper (arguably the most powerful newspaper in the UK) __ Simon.Jenkins@guardian.co.uk to me More options 11-Apr (18 hours ago) Dear Sahardid Many thanks for your email. The Guardian has covered Somalia extensively, and I am sure we will continue to do so. With best wishes Simon Jenkins __ It does not help that though that we have members here, who continually dispel disinformation threads and fully back the TFG, simply cause their uncle is in line of money to fund their villas from donor aid nations.
  18. DigibAc, look in the other thread called Somalia's Future http://www.somaliaonline.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=010295
  19. Originally posted by Northerner: quote:Originally posted by mystic: ^^^Amin I don’t see any of the TFG supporters showing any sympathy to the innocent people who were slaughtered by Ethiopian and TFG thugs. That alone speaks volume. I remember how much havoc they created on this forum when few Ethiopian and TFG soldiers where dragged through the streets. And now when more than 1000 of their countrymen, women and children have being massacred savagely they remain silent, as if they are laughing, grinning in the dark, with yellowy stained teeth. The enemy is nothing compared to them. May Allah save us from them... So true,,they are too busy celebrating trips by those responsible for this mess which says alot about them. Correct. There is a certain member here concerns himself with reporting the ground movements, where they are at any moment in time to denote the progession of the movement he supports. ''The 'PM' is today travelling by road''!! Oh dear...what progrssion. Have you noted that the supporters of the TFG were absent..not a squeak or post from them, when the massacre was going on.
  20. Yes it is amazing, thanks for the input Faraax Brown. But it also showed that in 100 years the Somalis haven't progressed an inch.
  21. in the next 2 years, I don't see any changes in the horizon. If at all, it will very likely get worse. The current GWB government, is very anti Islam and will look for nothing more than total submission from the people of Somalia. Contrary to political justice. Somalis are black and Islamic and well that will mean they will go to the wall. Things may rest on the EU. If the current group in Asmara, with the former speaker can convince and prod, they may see it that their hand has been tarred by the TFG. Neverthless, these groups of thugs will never leave until they are forced out, they are close as they have ever been to the pot of gold that awaits them, when the people have been pacified. Positive news wise, I'm strongly encouraged that a well organized diaspora conference, is being held soon in the UK, and that lumniraies like Professor Abdi Samatar are attending. Increasingly, it seems the diaspora is speeking with one voice. The vast majority against foreign meddling, Ethiopian troops and recognise the TFG, for what it is. Again, communities are very active, setting up work shops, conferences, groups and chairs, mailing our press releases. Increasingly, we are seeing a well mobilized and oiled community responses, that is effective at reaching the media (western) and the ear of influential people. To give you a example, Somalia Diaspora Network (SDN) put forward a united response on behalf of all the groups and released a press release, that amonsgt things, called for the unconditional withdrawdal of Ethiopian troops, after the massacre in Xamar. It would be magnificent from this support network, if we could organize a committee composed of say leader or leaders, whom we could put forward as a alternative to the TFG and whom would then campaign through a series of shuttle diplomacy for control. Everything is now in the hands of patriots.
  22. The BBC have called it for 1000. Which is about my estimation too. May God have mercy on those that fell. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6540609.stm
  23. Probably, cause it is cheap. They can hardly afford to spend big bucks can they.
  24. The article is displayed prominetly on the NYTimes.com website as I write. Actually to credit of the NYT, their reporting has been putting the pressure on Ethiopiua. In Feb. 23rd, they broke what everyone knows, the close business like relationship between the US and Ethiopia in planning the invasion of Somalia. The ethiopians were furious at the revelations and come out strong denying it. The spotlight is falling on the regime in Ethiopia. The Guardian in London, has been calling for this regime for some time now. Which is positive as well. If you write and write to these journalists, eventiually they will take up your case.
