How am I?
I am a lost soul in need of guidance, mercy and forgiveness, grace and abundance, protection and perception, motivation in direction, demonstration and protection, in all aspects of life. I am a Muslim woman born and raced in the Islamic faith, taught 2 learn, observe, N understand others while respecting N caring about their life, faith, opinion, surroundings N beyond-taught 2 love N cherish family, 2 lend a helping hand 2 those who ask N 2 those who don’t. Taught 2 take care of the orphan, the elder N the weak, 2 be me in the aspect of a righteous person, to do the right thing in public and in secrete, taught to follow and obey the Five Pillars of Islam………so easy on the heart…..yet so difficult on the mind and body. I am the daughter of two loving parents, the sister of five highly educated, highly sophisticated, sweet and gentle brothers, and a beautiful smart warm hearted sister. I am the friend of many the girl next door, the student the volunteer the helper and the helped I am me in the sense of humor-kindness-heart-sweat-N-tears. I am the devotion to the life that could be for me-my family, friends, neighbors, peers and perhaps the world. I am multicultural…in LOVE with my people-my Somali people, my blacks and whites my Latinos and natives, my Arabs and Asians. I am color blind for I see the human race as one……..under Allah’s hands and eyes. I look at all of you and I see me…for I see passion and yearning in your eyes, you want to understand and to be understood, to love and to be loved, to belong…….to be you!!!
So here I am presenting myself to you, so judge me for who I have told you to be and who you observe me to be……NOT for the color of my skin or this garment I hear on my head nor my religion. Who am I?
