Salaamu alaikum wr wb, I'm just preparing to take my GRE's I was wondering if there are any psych majors out there who have taken it or are working towards it, if so care to let me know?
-
salaam alaikum ya'll thnks for all that great lessons on the history of ogadeyn...however I hardly doubt any of you were able to answer my question, so 'mma patiently wait and insha'Allah hope one of you will Mullah huuno how do you plan on uniting somalia when you are a supporter of qabilism? a mere curiousity,
-
I have a question for the ogadeyn nomads in here, I was wondering if any of you know about the history of ogadeyn, if so any assistance to the following question would be greatly appreciated... How come we have been enslaved n could never get Ethiopians out of the country? I don't know anyone else to ask this question, hence the reason why I decided to post it here...

Qaac: huuno put a lid this "‘m the victim feel sorry for me crap!" No one would have even addressed you if it wasn't uncalled for... You have placed a magnifying glass over us, and when we try to merely point out the flaws in ur views, we are accused of personally attacking you? Hmm interesting huh? Walalo do me a favour n stop constantly contradicting urself! and another thing another care to elaborate on this point "i want women to be educated in their religion, just because u know how to speak english is not enough education" "in conclusion i don't have time, for a new girl to attack me all the time" If you want others to stop disagreeing with you, than do us all a favor and stop posting none sense... "and i'll say it again, if i want to marry a cadaan woman i would marry her long time ago, but guess i don't want to marry her coz she has a different calture from me, that is why i want a somali woman, now what i see is the somali girls are thinking like them, and telling me because they are educated, and trying to prove this from islam, which teaches you women should obay their man, as long as he is fellowing the orders of allah, samiyah how come u don't tell me that hadith hon." Huuno, what I love most about our deen is that it is fair! It doesn't hinder us from doing anything productive in our lives, so don't sit there and state that we are to be slaves for our hobbies! Islam gave us the right to chose a husband for ourselves, so alhamdulillah without this right a sister might end up having to marry a chauvinist! To be obedient doesn’t mean we are suppose to be cupped up in a four-wall sphere! don't get me wrong, I'm not downplaying nor 'm I undervaluing the role of sisters being "home boddies" For the life of me I can't figure out why u keep insisting on labeling the educated women as western females? For some odd reason, I get the feeling that you see them as the only female species who exercise their rights! Ur leaning on the judgmental side! Its not a good habit to develop u know

oi oi! iman aan qabdaradeeda layabana! tukadaran bey noso sartay!

salaamu alaikum wr wb, You are comparing her to a cadaan cause she says she rather get educated n help out her community? Allah(swa)said both the men n women r khalifah's of this earth (Quran 33:72-73). I know ur not trying to belittle her statuesque just because these sisters know their rights... for the ones suggesting they should bring along their notepads, I hope your already doting down some notes urself, for it seems to me you are in desperate need of enlightment...What puzzled me the most is how these men sit there and analyze the sisters for stating they want to pursue with their education, and insha'Allah get prestigious jobs...instead of promoting her for all her efforts, you attack her, and question her character by stigmatizing her as a "cadan woman" (shakes her head disapprovingly).....In Islam we are permitted to obtain a job, so who are you to say otherwise? What you are suggesting is after marriage she should seize her passions n she should discard everything she has worked for, since you married her she should become your property right? She is to be your partner in life, not a damir aad soo ijaratay! Qaac I don’t think Athena claimed she was more educated than sisters in Somalia: however she knows her rights. The prophet(scw) said "to seek knowledgeis obligatory on every muslim"(Al-bani) what is the point of getting knowledge if u can't taste the labour of ur fruits? Qaac: I know this might be hard for you to grasp, but could the reason why the divorce rate is so high possibly have to do with the fact that the certain mali men still suffer from the syndrome of the stone-age mentality?

jawihir, I would definitly say salam when no one else is looking! hehe on the serious note tho' we should insha'Allah maybe go for a coffee afterwards, for where 'm from there aren't that many somali sisters

salaamu alaikum wr wb, You don't need him, if he is with you and flirting away with others...regardless what his excuse might be, if he is giving his cell to females who are obviously interested in him, than that should give you a hint... Do not attempt to justify his wrongs, drop this doofus, don't work out ur problems with tears...write your own script, aside from Allah u hold your pen, so sketch yourself a character that would treat your heart like an open wound that needs some tender healing! FYI Carmel Kisses, Macaanti, I thought that you were part of my starters, # 3 to be exact. Never be a second hand! he didn't find you at a drift store! be a rear diamond! cause there is a somali saying... ri kasta meshey is dhigto yaa lagu goraca (hope I didn't mess it up ) Darling you are a Somalian queen, don't forget there, a seasoned creature! why settle for someone that'll burn you? You said he is a famous singer... here is my answer to u, are u with him for his fame or b/c you love him? if u luv him why r u trying to rationalize his pathetic excuses? war ilahow muu noqda boqorka adunka! he has no right! period end of the story, so if he is worthy of ur luv tell him how ur uneased about the whole situation! or close the book, n move on! another sisterly advice, kheyr would not be it! he already has 2 wives, so I think his hand is full as it is  however I need to have a talk with his wives!

salaamu alaikum wr wb, wow jaz I thought I was the only mali who used that product...but it does tend to get costy... Insha'Allah I'll write more about acne products when I have more time... Black seeds(xabasod) which is so inexpensive actually works way better than most of the counter products...Get yourself some Xabasoda facial soap, which you could find basically at any halal market... use it twice dialy... use the oil once (better if you leave it on overnight)

salaamu alaikum wr wb, A couple of students entering Al-Azhar University met up with a professor. He asked the first student, "What is your name?". The student replied, "My name is Mohamed." The professor said, "Very well. Please recite Surah Muhammad". And the student did. The next student said, "My name is Tariq." The professor said, "Ok, please recite Surah Al-Tariq. And the student did. This went on with other students saying their names and reciting their namesake surahs --Ibrahim,Yusef, etc. Finally, the professor noticed this one student looking down at his shoes and mumbling something. The professor asked "What's wrong and what is your name?" The student looked at the professor and said, "I cannot lie. My name is Taha, but everyone calls me Kauthar!" (For all of those who don't get the joke Surah Ta-Ha is a long surah with 135 ayats Whereas, Surah Al-Kauthar has only 3 ayats!)

sc wr wb, This is an advice for the ladies with long hair... use Hazel nut oil, before you wash your hair...leave it on for overnight, that way it will concentrate on the hair better. If you can't find hazel nut, you could also use almond oil…you could find this at any Indian food market, and also some Islamic supermarkets... Ladies don't waste your money on "hot oil" it doesn't reconstruct or repair the damage as they have you believe!

salaamu alaikum wr wb, Originally posted by DeadlyVision: "Woman was made from the rib of man. She was not created from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be stepped upon. She was made from his side to be close to him, from beneath his arm to be protected by him, and near his heart to be loved by him" its beautiful, I wish the majority of men knew the true meaning of this.

Will Someone Please Marry My Ugly Sister?
Somali-feminist replied to Somali-feminist's topic in General
Salaamu alaikum wr wb, most of you probably read this, but each time I read it it tends to crack me up... I just came across it earlier today, and I thought I'll share it with u guys **************************** HIJAB JOKES **************************** It has been my personal observation that some Muslim girls and women do not realize the significance of hijab.Hijab is arabic for protection and cover. Some people put a lot effort into their hijab, yet it serves no purpose. I am referring to the pointless hijab that some girls wear. The first pointless hijab is referred to as the headband hijab. It is a band of fabric approximately 4 inches wide. It covers the back of the head and allows all the hair to be exposed. It doesn't serve much in terms of modesty, but at least it comes in handy in case of an unexpected tennis match. The second pointless hijab is the dupetta, also known as the Saran wrap hijab. It covers all the hair, but it is totally transparent.Again it doesn't serve much in terms of modesty, but it keeps the hair nice and fresh. The third type of hijab is known as the Mickey Mouse Hijab. It is when a girl wears a black scarf and tucks it behind her ear, so that her ears stick out. We now move to my favorites: the yo-yo hijabs. The first yo-yo hijab, also known as the Benazir Bhutto hijab, is the scarf that keeps falling down and needs to be constantly pulled back up....up, down, up, down, just like a yo-yo. The second yo-yo hijab is also referred to as the convertible hijab. This type of hijab is predominant at any type of social event, i.e. an Aqeeqah, Bismillah party, Ameen party, wedding, etc. This is when an Imam or Qari comes up to the microphone and starts to recite Qur'an. At this point, all the convertible hijabs come up...until he says "Sadaqallahul atheem". I'm not sure, but apparently in some cultures that translates to "ok sisters, you may now take off your scarves". I'm sure this may seem odd, but what's even funnier is when people do not anticipate the recitation of Qur'an at a social event, and are forced to be creative and use accessories such as a purse to cover one's hair. I was surprised to see a women hold her purse over her head as "hijab"..as if the multitudes of men surrounding her are not a good enough reason to wear hijab, but some guy reciting du'a compels her to hold a purse over her head. Her friends were more creative...one friend used her dinner napkin. I was also laughing when I saw the communal hijab --> two or more girls draped under one dinner napkin during the recitation of Qur'ann. Her other friend was still more creative. She used her coffee saucer on the back of her head.I wasn't sure if it was hijab or a Yamaka. I didn't know if she was a Muslim or a Jew. I felt like going up to her and saying "Shalom alaikum, sister". And, people should remember that hijab is not just a protection from guys, but from a girl's nafs (ego) as well. It should prevent girls from having to spend hours in front of the mirror doing her hair. But, unfortunately, you see girls in front of the mirror for hours doing their hijab as they would do their hair, with all sorts of elaborate braids and the like. I wanted to go up to a sister and say "Is your hijab naturally curly?". I also felt compelled to go up to another girl and say "pardon me, but is your hijab naturally that color, or did you dye it?". Well, the point to remember is that some people make an effort to wear hijab, but it is futile, because it is not fulfilling it's purpose. It's like using an umbrella with holes in it. Hijab is used for protection from guys as well as from the girl herself, and should not be used as an accessory or for beautifying one's self. Anyway, that's it. If anyone disagrees with me or is offended, then you are disagreeing with the teachings of Allah subhanahu wa Ta'ala. -
Will Someone Please Marry My Ugly Sister?

salaamu alaikum wr wb Originally posted by king_450: If that is your wish, then here is my advise 2 u, next time go the mosque and after the prayer is finish , ask the muslims in the mosque that you are here 2 give your sister, and i promise you , she will be taken by some nice muslim. good luck but plz update me in this site. good luck. forgive me for doing this....loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool are you serious? walahi you made me laugh! did you neglect to read where I wrote it was a joke? never the less, thnk you? walahi you made me laugh walalo... -
As-salaamu alaikum wr wb, Masha’Allah, hijabis intuitive posts on hijab never seizes to amaze me...May Allah(Swt) bless their valuable input... Is it just me or do u just dig their mentality? ...no offense to the non-hijab’s I got nothing but love for ya ... Here is my two cents, I know it'll be nothing compared to whatcha’ll wrote, but anywho... To me hijab constantly reminds me how 'm a mere slave, it shields me against my desires. As a muhajaba I leave my house everyday feeling confident...I also know 'm representing millions of muslimahs around the globe..and the icing of the cake is the fact of knowing that I would be wrapped in a garmet that ummul muminiin wore (Aisha) . What puzzles me the most is how certain folks see as being oppressed back ward thinkers...do they not know they are numbed by the delusion of freedom... I could be wrong here, but I just think their self-esteem is solely based upon how much they could look like the tara banks (probably spelled her name wrong) but u do get the point... I don't think any of us really understands the beauty of hijab, its just hard to explain to others how it motivates you, liberates us and gives us courage to be individual. Lets not forget the kind of sisterhood bond it creates...if I have written anything which might have offended anyone, please do forgive me...for I only said so out of ignorance...

As-salaamu alaikum wr wb, *scratching her head, wondering whether to call her psycho? * Anyways, hon that was beautiful dua's jazaka'Allah khair

What do somali men know about romance?
Somali-feminist replied to Somali-feminist's topic in General
As-salaamu alaikum wr wb, I call it like I see it! Besides its Ramadan and to keep such information from a fellow sistah has got to be wrong! Y'all are a herd of hungry rude nomads. Flying sweety thnks for that warm wlcm... one thing never seizes to amaze me, that strong bond that we sisters share! ah that gives me an idea, we should start a topic just based on that...hehe if you want to give your new found sistah some advise you might want to tell her how this is the deep end of the pool and if she can't swim she's bound to drown. underdog... walalo I have no fear of that, now that I know I got sisters like flying as my safeguard... I wonder if you could say the same? hmmmm Remember guys, a woman who is pleased in her relationship with her partner, would have no problem bending over backwards to please her man, so keep that in mind. quizit I absolutely agree with you... "you will catch more bees with honey than vinegar" sis I never heard this before, its really nice, hope you don't mind if I use it... hehe:D WELL i usually take some romance add a little basil olive oil, it tastes great with thai rice. liqaye (nice nick btw) you know what would make your recipe complete, with a touch of desi meat, it would not tast like soul food if it lacks somali hawaji, spice it up with some ethiopian flavo.. and ofcourse you gots to use a japanese frying pan... I guess its too bad we don't have the option to mix up the ingedient a lil eh?
