  1. Thanks Cowke, Don't understand Somali except for the odd word here and there. I take it the Mayor is referring to Africa Oil and must be talking about mobilization of a rig. Set up time usually takes a couple of months before spudding can occur. Pilgrim
  2. Hi Cowke - can you help with a translation and source? Cheers P
  3. Good news indeed! Now AOC can get on with the job of drilling for oil.
  4. If I was easily offended, I would expect compensation for my whole family, for the offence you have caused by calling me 'lad'. I am a PHD applicant with taxi driving experience...please don't mess with me.
  5. I was hearing over the weekend GD. If the oil is confirmed in any quantity UZTAAD, there will be plenty of money poured into the region to develop it.
  6. Has anyone heard anything about parliament meeting to discuss the amended PSA?
  7. Not deminishing the obsticles that still ly ahead with the oil exploration, it is good to know that one of the main sources of opposition to the project now appears to have been satisfied that AOC (as operater) are the right company for the job. Range and AOC are different company's than they were 2 years ago - both have new management that have a fresh commitment to Puntland and the project. Once the amended PSA has been approved by parliament and signed off by Pres Farole, mobilisation and drilling can get underway. Does anyone know when parliament will be meeting to discuss the amended PSA?

Originally posted by General Duke: ^^^ With all due respect, we are not beggers, is the world unfair? indeed for most people of colour it has been and we are no exception but the Somali pride comes from a place a few from the west will ever understand and it's not false. It's a fact we have weak government and leadership in all Somali lands, bu that does not mean we have to compount his by bringing in the wolves, this deal in my opinion is adequite and we want it to go on. However we have survived for a long time in the most difficult of situations, as a westerner it would not be harmful if you watched your tone, and understood the people you are talking to. Note I have been a supporter of this deal , but all my fellow Somali's don't see it as I do and that does not mean that they should be talked down to.
  9. I was not out to offend you GD, I just see the argument on here is often too one sided. I try to not to make judgements about people unless I have a just cause and unfortunately, up to this point I have met very few Somali's I would ever place my trust in. I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong.
  10. GD - I appreciate what you are saying, but with all due respect it is not the absence of knowledge about a company you need to fear but the integrity of your government. Deals that are not worth the paper they're written on,government signatories that are worthless. You say Samali's don't like being talked down to but it is obvious that it is Somali's that have a false sense of pride and too often are unwilling to listen to wise counsel. Westerners do not have to invest in Puntland, they do so in the hope that there will be a mutual gain. Somali's will always be beggars until they learn this basic rule.
  11. Then it will be up to all of you to ensure your government is kept accountable.
  12. It's true, Angola, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea have had problems due to Oil exploration but these problems are mainly related to corruption within the Governments involved and not the Oil Companies. Oil companies will take short cuts if not properly regulated but again, that is the responsibility of the Government. If you look at the PSA agreement that was drawn up between Range/AOC and the former gov, it was in line and comparable to the best deals secured in more low risk countries. Range also paid dearly to secure that deal. Not only is Somalia considered a high security risk but also a huge political risk. Do you think foreign firms are able to raise investment capital for such high risk projects without offering better returns than can be gained in safe projects? Get real! Look at all the BS Range and AOC share holders have had to deal with to get this project off the ground - government agreements are made only to be broken or re-negotiated - it's laughable! It's a fact, most people wouldn't even consider investing in Somalia. Also look at the budget for Puntland - certain people like Bokero suggest - Puntland should develop its own resources - yeah right, with what? It's time the Puntland people stopped wasting their time and bickering like old woman - the current deal is excellent but the benefits of any oil will only flow if you get rid of all the self interest and support the companies involved, going forward.
  13. Certainly not truth syrup - grow up man!
  14. Oodweyne - what are you on? Boring!!!!
  15. Oodweyne - You are polluting every thread with your long winded tiresom dribble.
  16. quote: "Cade term was failure and he created allot of problems in puntland because of the oil he wasted all he is time oil nothing done domestic at least faroole focusing more domestic issue then oil we need solid system before the oil then rangers and AOC and other companies can have prober agreement" Farole has had 10 months to scrutinise the PSA agreement. The agreement was modelled on PSA's used in Yemen and is very generous by way of tax revenue for the Puntland Gov. What you need to understand is that no company is in business to donate their services but requires a comensurate reward for the risk undertaken. From memory, Range Resources will receive about 10% as their share of revenue from any successful oil discovery. Not that much given what they have risked by way of opportunity loss and damage to their reputation. Farole needs to get over himself and make the hard decisions that will benefit the people of Puntland.
  17. Cowke, AOC could call Force Majeure if Farole tried anything and tie it up in the international courts so long that no one would benefit for years. Farole is just trying to squeeze the deal once again for his own personal gain.
  18. Hopefully, Farole will be held to account over his stalling of the oil exploration.
  19. kajdes - Ilka-dahable, like many has self interest at heart - he would rather see Puntland remain dependent on handouts from the international community. Like so many, he is only interested in what directly benefits him. I disclose a financial interest in seeing success with the oil exploration but then, I have put my money where my mouth is and supported a venture that most in the West would not touch if Puntland was the last place to invest on earth. Range and AOC deserve a medal after all the BS they've had to put up with. I think both Range and AOC's share holders have been treated in a disgraceful manner and have had to demonstrate the patience of Job when dealing with the Puntland people. In the 4 years that I have been supporting this project, I have been saddened to see the self distructive, victom mentality held by so many. Puntland will not prosper on handouts. Farole's has wasted 10 months of his political term, stalling this project. If Range and AOC fail, the oil won't be going anywhere for many years to come. Certainly not in Farole's term.
  20. Here's a picture of Crest's camp and rig in Texas. As soon as Farole and AOC can finalize the drilling schedule, we should see something similar in Dharoor or Nugal. http://mail.google.c om/mail/?ui=2&ik=ec6 87a888b&view=att&th= 123e03338f24ec32&att id=0.1&disp=inline&r ealattid=0.1&zw
  21. Surely, it's in the best interest of all party's to find a path forward and get on with the exploration.
  22. I'm surprised no one has made any comment about the Africa Oil Operations update. "All preparations for the Somali drilling campaign are complete. However, drilling will only commence after agreement is reached in ongoing discussions with the new Puntland Government." Africa Oil Operations Update Market Wire September 14, 2009 VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 14, 2009 -- Africa Oil Corporation (“Africa Oil” or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE: AOI) is pleased to provide an update on its East African oil and gas operations. The Company has assembled a highly prospective portfolio of oil and gas exploration assets in Kenya (Blocks 9, 10A and 10BB), Ethiopia (Adigala, ****** 2/6 and 7/8) and Somalia (Dharoor and Nogal) as well as attracting an excellent group of joint venture partners. The Company is the operator of all blocks except Block 9 in Kenya. Preparations for an aggressive drill campaign over the next two years have advanced significantly with the first well anticipated to spud by the end of October. Kenya The Bogal-1-1 well in Block 9 is expected to spud at the end of October, 2009. The rig, materials and other equipment are currently being mobilized from China. The Bogal well will target Jurassic reefal limestone and Cretaceous sandstones with a projected total depth of approximately 5000 metres. Numerous additional prospects have also been identified within Block 9 and are being evaluated for possible future drilling. CNOOC is the operator of Block 9. Interpretation of reprocessed vintage seismic data from Block 10A is currently underway. The new data has provided a clearer image of vast sub-basins within the block. To supplement the existing data, approximately 750 kilometres of new 2D seismic will be acquired. A technical re-evaluation of newly acquired Block 10BB is underway. As the block has an existing oil discovery (Loperot), various exploration strategies such as appraisal drilling, offset exploration drilling, and conventional 2D or 3D seismic exploration are being considered. Seismic acquisition is anticipated to commence in the second quarter of 2010. Ethiopia A 500 kilometre, 2D seismic acquisition program commenced in August on the Adigala block. Approximately 100 kilometres of data have been recorded to date with the balance expected to be completed in October, 2009. Preliminary evaluation of the Adigala seismic data acquired so far indicates that a prospective sedimentary basin exists within the Company`s acreage. Sedimentologic and geochemical analyses of outcrops along the periphery of the basin have shown the existence of reservoir rocks and oil prone source rock. Upon completion of the seismic survey at Adigala, the contractor will mobilize to ****** Blocks 2/6 and 7/8 where a 500 kilometre, 2D seismic program is scheduled to commence towards the end of the year. The seismic program will target previously identified robust leads with a goal of maturing these leads to drillable prospects. The seismic program at ****** is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Somalia Following Africa Oil`s successful acquisition of 775 kilometres of 2D seismic in the Dharoor Block, prospects for 2010 drilling are being finalized. Preliminary interpretations indicate the presence of robust prospects which have the potential to contain large reserve volumes. The Company`s interpretation in the Nogal Block is complete. Excellent prospects have been identified and the first drill site has been firmed up on the Nogal South Prospect. All preparations for the Somali drilling campaign are complete. However, drilling will only commence after agreement is reached in ongoing discussions with the new Puntland Government. Africa Oil Corp. is a Canadian oil and gas company with assets in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. Africa Oil`s East African holdings are in what is considered a truly world-class exploration play fairway. The Company`s total gross land package in this prolific region is in excess of 200,000 square kilometers - an area roughly the size of Great Britain. The East African Rift Basin system is one of the last of the great rift basins to be explored. New discoveries have been announced on all sides of Africa Oil`s virtually unexplored land position including the major Heritage/Tullow Albert Graben oil discovery in neighbouring Uganda. Similar to the Albert Graben play model, Africa Oil`s concessions have older wells, a legacy database, and host numerous oil seeps indicating a proven petroleum system. Good quality existing seismic show robust leads and prospects throughout Africa Oil`s project areas. The Company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol “AOI”. ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD Rick Schmitt, President Neither the TSX Venture Exchange nor its Regulation Services Provider (as that term is defined in the policies of the TSX Venture Exchange) accepts responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this release.
