^^ Since he (Cabdullahi Shiek) used his James Bond-like expertise to 'infiltrate' Cabdullahi Yusuf and Ethiopia's plans, I think he shoulda done the right thing and assassinated the bloody bastar. But, all wishes don't always come true. But, just out of curiousity, how much of this guy's facinating tale do you hold dear to your heart? NURUDIN - Let's like like 'mature' people, haye. This Cabdullahi Shiek character was caught by Garoowe police. I know he didn't say his ALL his stuff was confiscated - for if he did, how would he explain having a 'map' that planned out Ethiopia's invasion of southern Somalia? More importantly, Ethiopian military headquarters for Somali affairs are in Godey, not Garoowe. So, in a sense, Ethiopia's military plans would be housed in a safe Godey military camp as opposed to being in Garoowe. Secondly, did your friend Mr. Cabdullahi Sheik share with you the story of how he managed to slip a HUGE map past his detainers (i.e. Garoowe police)? I mean, I'm sure they would've noticed a map - especially a map detailing Cabdullahi Yusuf and Meles Zenawi's plans to invade southern Somalia. Do you even care for these important technical questions or are you so brainwashed by Muqdisho warlords of the impending Ethiopian (read, Amxaar) attack on Somalia? Ethiopia is coming - arm yourselves blah blah.

EXCERPTS from press release by Somali Intellectuals Without Borders (i.e. Doctors with Borders, Journalists without Borders - and now, this): SOURCE: http://www.hiiraan.org/2005/mar/siwb.htm "We understand that some Mogadishu politicians and the Mogadishu-based Islamic Courts have voiced their opposition to the deployment of the proposed IGAD Peace enhancing forces on the grounds that Ethiopia , a member of IGAD and a possible contributor to the proposed forces, has a hidden agenda to colonize Somalia . Mr. Speaker and honorable members of Parliament, this spurious argument should not emotionally sway you because it is an argument that has neither logic nor substance. We remind you that these born-again nationalists were at one time or another, client rebels of Ethiopia and that they owe their current economic as well as political power to Ethiopia ." And the truth shall set you free! Every single Muqdisho war/druglord has benefitted from Ethiopia during the Somali civil war. And now, they're suddenly die-hard, flag-waving nationalists? "...a second question that you should ponder upon while casting your vote is, why in the past 14 years, besides chopping the hands of poor and vulnerable individuals in Mogadishu, the Islamic courts have not stood up for the poor and the vulnerable and challenged the warmongers in some pockets of Mogadishu , or why they have failed to organize rallies to address the issues of disarmament and peace in Mogadishu in the past." The so-called 'Islamic courts' are the same as the warlords - only they're hiding behind the facade of our holy religion to further promote their socio-political and economic interests in southern Somalia (namely Muqdisho, where they wield the most power). Its a good question though: why do the so-called 'Islamic courts' enforce their breed of Islamic law in SOME parts of Muqdisho while they turn a blind eye to the actions of war/druglords only a few blocks from their premises?

Cabdullahi Sheik and the Ethiopian conspiracy

TOLSTOY - After you read WIIL_DUCO's post, do you still think this character (Cabdullahi Sheik) is credible? He was arrested in Garoowe, his stuff (spy cellphone, documents etc) was confiscated, yet he managed to escape with this magical 'map' that draws out Ethiopia's invasion of Muqdisho and Shabelle/Jubba Valleys. Such damning evidence but Puntland police put him on a safe plane back to Muqdisho so he can share the secrets he found with world. Meles Zenawi must be really dissappointed. Oh, my secrets have been revealed! SXB, argue about the issue (Ethiopian troops) but don't defend a spying moryaan like Cabdullahi Sheik. -
Originally posted by sky.african: one thing is for sure, he aint the guy that would make a lot of friends in this particular part of somalia. In that part of Somalia, the terms '*****' and 'friend' don't appear in the same sentence. I say he's lucky - coz I know Faroole wouldn't take no shit from garbage like him (Abdullahi Shiek). And he named Gen Badmaceeye in vain. Muqdisho media overblowing the issue blah blah. Funny, though, coz his story doesn't add up at all. He was arrested in Garoowe and his stuff (mobile, documents etc) were confisticated. Yet, he manages to retain the magical 'map' - if this map is so damning for Puntland or Ethiopia, how come the Puntland authorities didn't confisticate it. Oh, lemme guess - he hid it up his butt-hole! [ March 03, 2005, 03:57 PM: Message edited by: Libaax-Sankataabte ]

'Is new American Policy toward Somalia in the making?
wind.talker replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
XIIN - When the U.S. assigns a special envoy for Somali affairs, then they're truly taking charge. Their opposition to Ethiopian troops is understandable: they don't want to create more of the so-called Islamic extremists. If Ethiopian troops set foot on our soil, its jihad. Next thing you know, foreign fighters are in Muqdisho helping defeat the ETs. Which means the Somali conflict jumps from a tribal-political one to a religious one which could easily gain widespread Muslim support. Besides, if you've seen Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi's press release, you'll know that he said the 'offer' is on the table. At the end of the day, after all this paranoia about Ethiopian troops, they won't arrive. The Parliament won't let them, the Somali people won't let them, the A.U. won't let them and the U.N. won't let them. -
Originally posted by Maakhir: How many occasions have these local mercenaries spurred violence under the umbrella of Hargeisa and Garoowe altercations over the claims of their own territories . The good people of SSC are not fighting for 'Puntland' or 'Somaliland.' First of all, 'Puntland' is a temporary thing - until a truly federal Somali government is created and each region (i.e. Sool, Nugaal) are free to self-govern at a 'state' level similar to the U.S. system. 'Somaliland' is an ideology that is, for the most part, being literally forced down the throats of Reer SSC. Somaliland politicians and military officials have time again swore to reach their mystical 'eastern border' (few KM from Garoowe) at all costs, including military force. Do you think the people of Bari/Nugaal/Mudug will sit and watch as Somaliland troops forcefully storm Laascaanood and Laas Qoray? The really funny thing is, if 'Somaliland' invades Laascaanood and Laas Qoray and Reer Bari/Nugaal/Mudug don't react, THEY'LL be labelled as treasonous by all Somalis for letting Somaliland secede - esp by Reer SSC who'll blame them for not helping. Give us a break sxb. I'm still not sure you even have a solution to this political dilemma.

Job well done for Garowe Online. Man, do I hate spies! P.S. Due to SOL rules, the Somali term which means 'found out' OGAAADEEN sounds like a tribal name and is thus omitted. So, I intentionally misspelled it so people can read the excerpt.

Karkaar and Hayland states approved by Puntland parliament
wind.talker replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in Politics
LIBAAX - There's some confusion on the part of the Puntland sites over which city (Dhahar or Badhan) is the new Haylaan capital. So, Haylaan is essentially Eastern Sanaag? I understand breaking up Bari Region - with its overpopulation and way too many districts - but why rename Eastern Sanaag? Worth to note the motion passed when 26 MPs voted 'YES' while 14 MPs kept quiet. How come there was only 40 MPs present (out of a possible 66) to vote on such an important motion? A lotta cleaning up gotta be done in this hand-picked regional Parliament. -
wich city has to become the interim capital till muqdisho is pacified?
wind.talker replied to Sky's topic in Politics
Baydhabo because of its close proximity to Ethiopia. I recently heard that some Ethiopian commanders reminded RRA branch leader Xaabsade that it was them - the Ethiopian army - that ultimately helped the then-unified RRA recapture the entire regions of Bay and Bakool from USC/SNA forces. I guess that's why Xaabsade is suddenly welcoming the TFG. -
'Is new American Policy toward Somalia in the making?
wind.talker replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
You're probably reading too much into this, sxb. America's interests in the Horn of Africa are protected by the Ethiopian regime; because, Ethiopia is Washington 'eyes and ears' in the region. The Egyptian factor - perhaps, America is giving Hosni Mubarak an incentive for his declaration of an upcoming multi-party elections in Egypt. Whatever the case, America is far too busy socio-politically 'reforming' the Middle East to worry about some backward African nation like ours. -
Cabdullahi Sheik and the Ethiopian conspiracy
wind.talker replied to wind.talker's topic in Politics
^^ You two sound like constipated old hags. Jokes aside, Tolstoy's point of Ethiopia's ill intentions towards Somalis and Somalia (whether North or South) cannot be dismissed. However, I didn't open this thread so we can discuss Ethiopia's imperialist agendas for Somalia/land. Its about this guy (Abdullahi Sheik) and his claims of holding maps etc. about Ethiopia's plan to "invade" Somalia. Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi today said: "The bottom line is our offer is still on the table, but we are not going to impose ourselves on Somalia ," Meles told a joint news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital, Addis Ababa. "It is up to the Somali government and the Somali people." http://allafrica.com/stories/200503020277.html I think the bigger issue of Abdullahi Sheik's press conference is to spread Muqdisho (and its environs) with facinating stories of an impending Ethiopian invasion, so as to manipulate the local population by making them believe the TFG - in collaboration with Ethiopian troops - will invade and take over the Capital. This "Ethiopia is coming" bandwagon is ultimately designed to turn the Somali people - especially the ever-important residents of the Capital - against this TFG leadership. -
This Abdullahi Sheik guy is quite the story-teller. EXCERPT of Hiiraan Online's coverage of the Mogadishu press conference: "C/llaahi Sh. Xasan wuxuu shirkiisa ku soo bandhigay Kaarto magaceedu yahay Mogadishu Area Operation, taasoo uu caddeeyay in uu diyaariyay Jen. Cusmaan Shiikh Badmaceeye, wuxuuna isagoo sharaxaya kaartadaas uu yiri "Sida aad u jeedaan waxay tilmaameysaa kaartadaan weerar ku soo socda Gobollada Banaadir, Shabeelaha Hoose iyo Jubbooyinka, weerarkaasoo ay soo qaadayaan ciidamo 11 kun gaaraya oo ay leedahay Dowladda Itoobiya, waxaana u qorsheysan in ay gobolladaas kala gooyaan, kadibna ay Gobolka Banaadir ka soo galaan labo waddo oo ah tan Afgooye iyo tan Balcad oo ka kala tirsan gobollada Shabeelaha Dhexe iyo Shabeelaha Hoose." Full coverage at: http://www.hiiraan.org/2005/mar/wararka_maanta02.htm This guy does not sound credible. Seems like he had a terrible experience during his visit in Puntland. But, from the interview, he was supposed to help the fact-finding mission in Muqdisho ONLY. Why go to Beledweyne and then on to Galkacyo/Garoowe? His answer is vague and seems forced. AND THIS: "Kadib waxaa la gaaray xiligii ay wafdiga Madaxweyne C/llaahi Yuusuf ka degayeen Garowe, waxaana noo yimid mid ka mid ah Wasiirrada maamulka Puntland, kaasi oo nagu wargeliyay in aan ka baxno Hotellka aan ku jirno oo aan Madaxweynaha wax ka soo dhaweynayo, waxaanse u sheegay in aan howl u joogno Garowe, soo dhaweyna aysan howsheena ahayn, kadib wuxuu igu yiri ma adigoo Puntland jooga ayaad sidaas u hadleysaa, anna waxaan mar kale ugu jawaabay Madaxweynuhuba xalay wuxuu joogay Jowhar, dhulkiisana ma ahayn" ayuuna yiri ." What?

A Letter from Somaliland Echoing Reality on the Ground
wind.talker replied to SOO MAAL's topic in Politics
Cheap propaganda should be dismissed but with a glance. The tragic story about being separated from her beloved husband because of the political status quo deserves an Oscar for Best Emotional Fabrication. Give us a break with colonial treaties. Enough Somali men and women shed their blood to get rid of them - and we wanna debate as to which ones are accurate? The nerve of some folks.. -
What's so "deg-deg" about this: Originally posted by Jumatatu: War deg deg ah 3- Waxaa kale oo ay qodobka seddexaad ku sheegeen inay guud ahaan is cafiyeen hogaamiyaasha siyaasada USC How many years and at how many different so-called peace/reconciliation conferences have the USC war/druglords forgiven (cafis) each other? Kill each other today. Sign peace tomorrow. Kill each other the next day. The USC has never drafted a plan of its political objectives after supposedly "liberating" Somalia from (who ? ). Since the liberation is over (and has been for the past 15 years), which direction will the ever-wise, ever-resourceful USC leadership take our beloved homeland? The SNM liberated northern Somalia and at least came up with a unified ideology and stood for SOMETHING. The USC liberated southern Somalia and came up ( blank ). Maybe I'm reading too much into the ghost-written 'war deg-deg ah' propaganda of war/druglords. I've never seen any culture (incl. Waraa QUDHAC - Hadaad wayse waxaad odayga (Cabdullahi Yuusuf) ku cayso, I think the following things will be helpful: - He kicked Riyaale out of Laascaanood, Somaliland Republic - He's the reason Riyaale the Runner holds the political Abdi Bile Abdi record (followed closely by Gen Morgan, of course) - He decided to let his younger cousin, Gen Adde Muuse, slap Riyaale the Runner around a little bit while he handles the bigger fish (i.e. the JUMA kind  ) Dayniile.com - I would only refer to that site if I really wanted to know Qanyare the Flip-flopper's opinion.

Editorial: How much longer can Somaliland survive?
wind.talker replied to wind.talker's topic in Politics
Nobody said the people of Somaliland won't make it. The ideology (secession) is in question here. It keeps getting more interesting, though. And here I was thinking Jamhuuriya newspaper was worthy of journalistic praise: http://www.jamhuuriya.info - under "Ciidamada Somaliland - Sir Culus" - right-hand side of the page. The author of this piece isn't mention, just an ambigious 'Jamhuuriya Online' is left at the bottom. Did they really author that? They essentially saying Riyaale was adviced NOT to go to Laascaanood in Dec 2002 (which is true) but he decided to go because of some conspiracy involving him, Jaamac Blue (the businessman) and Abdullahi Yusuf/Gen Adde Muuse. The guy basically set up his own coward act of running out of his country (Laascaanood, Somaliland ). Such garbage. -
Article on the political career of Faisal Ali Waraabe, UCID party chairman in Somaliland: HIGHLIGHT: "Faisal has always been relentless in his efforts to secure a cabinet post from Rayale’s government as evidenced by the ICG. He set his sights on the Foreign Office, which was and still remains his favourite cabinet post to this day. However Faisal indicated that, if that was not available he was prepared to settle for his second best: the Ministry of Finance. Faisal went to an extra ordinary length when he suddenly dashed to Djibouti and met with Ismail Guelleh in an effort to impress upon him [Guelleh] to put pressure on Rayale so that he could be assigned to either of the above posts. But Rayale who is always keen to oblige Guelleh neverthelss resisted his pressure this time, because Edna was the only shining star in the motley collection of former spies and former ****** informers in his cabinet ." "Faisal rejuvenated himself again and began to play a credible opposition and got into agreements with Kulmiye on a number of occasions only to renege on his promises later. One such example is his agreement with KULMIYE where Silanyo and Faisal jointly nominated Mohammed Hashi Elmi to the Electoral Commission. Faisal recanted this and switched to UDUB by nominating Ahmed Abdullahi Hoorri, the brother of the deceased commissioner, Mohamed Hoorri, in an effort to satisfy Rayale. Faisal’s latest treachery against the other opposition party is his rejection of the demonstrations scheduled for 29th March. If he is for democracy and the holding of elections in Somaliland, why is he opposed to demonstrations that are intended to insure holding them? The answer is that he is treacherous and unreliable to the core." SOURCE: www.togdheer.com Riyaale's Cabinet is full of former NSS informants, the opposition is a sellout and, thus, these are all importants tenets of a democracy. Carry on, Somaliland..

Awdal News Network editorial: How much longer can Somaliland survive on armchair politics and an empty stomach? HIGHLIGHTS: "Today when the fruits of their long labor were due to be reaped, Somalilanders have found themselves between a rock and a hard place. On the one side Somalilanders have every right to be proud of their accomplishments. Hargeisa can match any other African capital with its luxurious hotels, gorgeous villas and bungalows and state-of-the art architecture. On the other side, however, Hargeisa and all other Somaliland towns for that matter have no town planning, no roads, no services, no sewage system, no water supply, no reliable electricity, no health services and no source of income with 90% or more of the community relying on assistance from relatives in the diaspora and the whole able-bodied population unemployed with no hope of economic or political salvation in sight." "The first blow came from Djibouti , which has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia to be the gateway for the exports of livestock coming from Somaliland. It also handed over its customs and ports to the Emirate of Dubai to develop and manage them in an attempt to acquire ultra-modern equipment and implement advanced IT infrastructure solutions, thus eclipsing Berbera’s role as a potential rival the same way that Djibouti had eclipsed the flourishing port of Zeila in the early 20th century. The second blow came from Puntland whose Machiavellian warlord had first played the tribal card to dismember Somaliland and throw its territorial integrity into a perpetual doubt. With Abdillahi Yusuf Ahmed now buoyant with his newfound power and international recognition as the leader of Somalia, there is no doubt that he will make his priority to stymie Somaliland’s ambition for nationhood. The establishment of the Horn of African Free Zone (HAFZA) in Puntland is a step to tighten the noose on Somaliland’s dying economy and force it to fall into Ahmed’s lap like a ripen fruit. " After living almost a decade and a half in the political twilight, Somalilanders are not only demoralized and beaten by the travails of finding their daily bread, but some of them have started to question about the viability of issues that they felt were so sacrosanct to even think about questioning them. If the conversation of Somalilanders in the coffee shops and their rush to meeting delegations of the newly formed Somali government could be taken as any measure, one can notice a change of tone and a softening of the position of the most die-hard Somalilanders towards any reference of association of their country with Somalia." BOTTOMLINE: "Either they have to trust each other, add penny to penny and create employment-generating businesses or they should know that people cannot live on empty stomachs and empty rhetoric for long and so they may not find any alternative but to try another 30 years of hell with bread than heaven without. " SOURCE: http://www.awdalnews.com/wmview.php?ArtID=4881 and http://www.radiosomaliland.com/index.php?itemid=700

The U.S. position can't contradict the Addis Ababa position. Addis Ababa is America's eyes and ears in the Horn of Africa region - a region US military commanders have recently labelled as a potential haven for terrorists. If Zenawi voices the 'clean up terrorists' agenda, we all know GW Bush will go for it. Anything to root out 'terrorists.' 'Mr. Bari-Bari' LOL Good one JUMATATU..
