  1. Val you have a point London is very tough, it is one of the most expensive cities in the world and after your taxes are cut there is not much to go around for the family so I am very sympathetic for those that try to find loop holes in the system. But there are many Somalis out there who make very good money, many bus drivers for example take home plus £500 after tax a week, that’s usually more than most people earn a week. The question is when does it stop being a case of survival and become a case where your son and daughter can have the latest mobile and latest trainers every month. Dabshid working for who? Nice arguments I thought I was going to get “War Maxa afaarahas ku galiyay”
  2. I am sure most of you have heard about the classic Somali money saving scheme, the wife and husband claiming to be divorced, the wife on income/child benefit support and the husband working or on incapacity benefit. BBC radio said a couple of nights ago that the Turkish/Kurdish community are the biggest burden on the welfare system followed by you guessed it the Somalis. And while I agree that there are some people that genuinely need to be on welfare system there are many of us that can work or work in accordance to the nuclear family but who choose scavenge of the system. What is your take on the issue?
  3. lool Datoore my bad I should have waited for the official press release. Saxiib when are you going back to help the regional administration
  4. Very good news indeed, I also hear that the Vice President and Finance Minister are going to the Middle East to sign an agreement where the Port of Hobyo will be rebuilt
  5. It’s been a bit calm as of lately not that many Muslim stories in the media, the MCB have taken the umbrella title literally they are accommodating all types of Muslims, which can prove to be contradictive at times but saxiib they have a long way to go before they become an organisation that is involved in the community, especially the youth have suffered under the passiveness of the MCB and as a consequence groups like Hizb Tahrir and al ghurub have taken advantage. But on a plus side some Masjid have taken matters into their hands, my local one offers free Arabic and Tajweed classes, Leyton and Finsbury park are improving a lot and attracting a lot reverts Regarding Labour they are moving more and more towards the view of the Sufi Council, which is a shame.
  6. This is very good news the foreign mercenaries should suffer, no Ethiopian soldier should leave Somalia with his head held up high
  7. Seekknowledge Salafi Saliih means pious predecessors the companions and the three best generations after them. Saudi in their religious doctrine tries to adhere to the teaching of those three best generations but as you can understand it is very hard live up to the standard of those early generations. So in short Saudi Arabia tries in their best to follow the Salafi path and collectively they are doing in the most systematic way but they still have long to go before they mirror those generations.
  8. Northerner has valid point, what has the innocent Tom, Dick and Harry got to do with the policies of the government and to make it even worse some of the extremist in the Muslims world target Muslims “for not standing up against the government” Algerian extremist in the 90s and my main man Alman Zawahiri are such examples. So there is a struggle of what method of reaction. I don’t know if you guys have watched the documentary power of nightmares but it explains very well extremism. It is quite long: Part1 http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=881321004838285177&q=power+of+nightmares&total=469&start=0 &num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 Part 2 http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=4602171665328041876&q=power+of+nightmares&total=469&start= 0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=3
  9. extremism is the result of an internal fight over the future of Islam I agree with Northerner TB has some agreeable points the one above mainly. Extremism in Muslims has existed ever since the prophet (saw) era with the Khawariij if that’s what TB means then he has a point because the clock did not start in 9/11 or even the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Sheikh Ibn Al-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah gives us a good reminder The Deception of Satan in Causing People to Fall So from his (i.e. Satan’s) strange plot/stratagem is: that he will test the Nafs (soul) in order to see what it has with it. This he does to determine which of the two resolutions is a mainstay over it: • The resolution of fearlessness and bravery; or: • The resolution of turning away and abstention and contempt. For if he sees that its mainstay upon the soul is: contempt and abstention, he then begins to hinder him and weaken his endeavour as well as his intent from that which he was commanded with. Thus he makes it burdensome for him, and so he demeans it upon him in order that he should abandon it – such that stage by stage he abandons it; or falls short in it; and so neglects it. However if he sees that its mainstay over it is: the strength of fearlessness and being strong-hearted; he then seeks to cause his underestimation of that which he was commanded with. Thus he causes him to fall into the illusion that he has not sufficed in it; therefore needing exertion with that along with that which is additional. So he causes the first type to fall short whilst the second he causes to go to extremes. It is just as some of the Salaf said: ‘Allaah The One free of all imperfections never commanded with a command – except that Satan had in it two incitements: either towards negligence and shortcoming; or towards transgressing the bounds and extremism – and he (Satan) does not care to which of them his achievement lies.’ Indeed most of the people have diverged to these two wadi’s (valleys) – with the exception of lesser than a few. That being the wadi of falling short and the wadi of transgressing the bounds and transcending. Yet a very small number of them are firm upon the path which the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and his companions were upon. For there are a people who he caused to fall short in performing the obligatory acts of purification. Yet there are a people whom he caused to go to extremes such that they exceed suchbounds through whisperings. 1 Taken from: Ighaathatul lahfaan fee massa’id ash-shaitaan (Daar Ibn Al-Jawzee) 1/222-226. you can get the rest of the article from the link below http://www.salafipublications.com/sps/
  10. Paolo Maldini son http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXpPD3FpxIg
  11. Slash irrespective of whether nation is homogenous I showed you that with the right pressure a country can break up. Me would you agree with Somaliland seceding if they did not intend to take Sool and Saanag with them. you have to understand that there were does who wanted to stay with Pakistan instead of joining the new Bangladesh, everywhere you go you will find people for or against an entity how ever it is the strength of the majority that matters. . Believe you me it is not easy to secede in this day and Anyhow we have bigger fish to fry at the moment, peace and stability must be attained in the south before negotiations can ever take place with Somaliland, so be patient lads
  12. I remember Asamoah of Ghana from the world cup and still the dude cannot score to save his life 18 shots on goal and they only scored once, I didnt watch Ivory Coast but with a better stricker Ghana can be formidable they should Play the young boy pele son
  13. Me do not underestimate the will of the people after all we do not have East Pakistan anymore
  14. European are not going to recognise Somaliland’s recognitions for legal reasons I was speaking to someone who did his thesis on the Kosovo issue and why after all the catastrophes of genocide it is still legally apart of Serbia although they want unanimously to secede. The simple reason was that countries like Germany and Spain would not allow it, they too have regions such as the Basque and Catalonia that want to secede therefore sp as long as the do not acknowledge any seceding entity they can “rightly” control those regions in their country. And for diplomatic and economic reasons the rest of Europe follows suit.
  15. When the Ethiopian troops leave the clan courts supporters will say all non Mogadishu clans should also leave. lool Sahiib you are going to die of a heart attack soon this fear and suspicion is unhealthy, we told you yesterday we tell you today and if Yey and his likes don’t pay heed we tell you tomorrow there is no negotiation when the country occupied. Amazing how someone can call himself a nationalist yet not trust his own people, sahib get rid of the safety net (Ethiopia) and like a real man come to the negotiations table that’s all the Somali people are asking for. The leaders of the past irrespective how their term went never needed foreign forces in Somali soil part those who till this day are spoken of as traitors. Ps how can you win on the ballot if you can not possibly win on the battle field without Ethiopian help, after all support is support
  16. Absolutely not saxiib he believes that Somalia should ultimately be governed by Shariah law, but his ways of achieving it more through subtle learning and a gradual implementation. As with regards to the battle I did not agree with as I too felt we were ill prepared, but again we can argue that the execution for war happened while he was away in hajj by Mr. trigger happy Indha Cadde, nobody in the world is infallible but if we are comparing merits there is no candidate more sited than him to run the country. Juje it is the qadar of Allah that he did not perish in the battles or in the streets of Mogadishu, his role is as the strategic leader not a foot soldier his responsibilities are to govern. You have to understand this is reality and not Mel Gibson made movie so there is n need for him to pick up the AK. General I welcome your welcome But his conditions still stand as they stood over a year ago no need for Ethiopian troops in Somali soil and until that issue is solved we are still going to be in this limbo. The platform was opened in Khartoum just over a year ago the ICU was ready for negotiations with one condition and that condition still stands today.
  17. What Somalia need after almost 20 years of deep rooted hatred is a healer of wounds, a man that does not compromise on his fundamental beliefs yet accommodates others view points. As the current leader of the Alliance for the liberation of Somalia he is just like Mandela was for the ANC the leader and head of hope for his people. Sheikh Sharif is the candidate that will listen to others point of view and embrace it, he does not fear knowledge and knows that the only way forward is through understanding; the man is a fresh face and not an old schooler whose sole ambition since independence has been to sit in Villa Somalia. He does not haveSomali blood on his hand unlike most of his opponents Most importantly unlike other good men who can do the job he has genuine grass root support from the masses irrespective of whether they are apart of his clan, because he along with the likes Abdi Bille, Abdullahi Isse, Adan Cusman Abdi Rashid Sharmake are judged by their character and not by where they hail from. Juje know that he was elected as the head Alliance of Liberation of Somalia by his peers not Xassan Dahir Aweys so unless you have sound proof that it his Xassan running the show in that party then keep it down with the conspiracy.
  18. Xalimo do not believe what these folks say stay safe and stick to law or pick Accounting, life might be boring as hell but at least you know where your income is coming from. But if you insist then I wish you all the best but don’t say I didn’t warn you. To be honest you can do many jobs, life shouldn’t be restricted to just one field, I have ambitions of being a historian/archaeologist, economist, politician and an entrepreneur, step by step I intend to fill all those roles. Of course it all depends on when Arsene Wenger gives me the call to be the captain at Arsenal.
  19. “Ur preference” lool nice one Garaad but I have made my preference (are you rooting for Yey 2009?) I agree with you Somalipride Somalia needs an all inclusive government but I am sure if he is elected he will best pick the best people from all corners in Somalia. Juje saxiib do you have a solution?, the likes of you bring nothing but pessimism to this forum criticizing all that exist but bringing nothing to the table. You where against the Sheikhs reign (June-December 2006) when Mogadishu had stability and normality that it had not seen for decades. Saxiib who is your candidate what is your solution at least with the likes of Duke have their view on Somalia (although I disagree). For your information Sheikh Sharif was the elected head of the ICU and the elected head of the alliance of Restoring hope
  20. I am glad you support him Saxiib but what has “working” or “getting sacked” by Dheree got to do with him deciding to join the ICU. that statement was unnecessary
  21. Juje who should we believe you or the good Sheikh, he is the candidate of the people. Thus the best person to bring Somalia back from the ashes.
  22. Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed: 2009 President of the Republic of Somalia There is no candidate who as much grass root supports as Sheikh Sharif, all Somalis part the haters should support this young Charismatic leader who has no baggage or Somali blood on his hand. We saw in the few months of his leadership how much patriotism he spurred amongst Somalis both young and old, the word Amirul Muminin was uttered every where from universities, cafes to the streets of Somalia. The stability and economic development under his leadership brought peace to a city that was destroyed by 16 years of war. “It was the abduction of one of his 12-year-old pupils that prompted Somali schoolteacher Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed to take a stand against the warlords who had ruled the capital, Mogadishu for the last 16 years.”
  23. Good General, I judge people by their actions and deeds, if I remember correctly the reason he got elected was because he managed to get support base from the south in 2004. Now use your logic, from a Somali perspective where outside of Puntland does this man’s support base lie? Now before you jump the gun know that there is a difference in support for the TFG and support for Yey. - Maxamed Dheree sub-clan might support the TFG but they do not support Yey - Some in GalMudug Supports the TFG not the leadership - I do not need to speak for the People of Kismayo, Somaliland and the Red Fox Xasan Dahir Aweys folks as their actions speak louder than words. As with regards to foreign support our good friend Riyale is enjoying much more support from both the Yanks and Ethiopia (perhaps he is being groomed as the next successor) Therefore from my analysis not many regions left for Yey
  24. Saxiib he has as much chance of being re-elected as Nick Griffin has in becoming PM of Britain. Do not fool yourself this isn’t 2004 when the Ethiopian pocket change bought of the retched warlord. Even they and the mother of all sponsors USA know that Yey brings no solution for Somalis or their interest hence why Riyale is being given preferential treatment. Saxiib the people of GalMudug are some of the most nationalistic people in Somalia but in our backyard being nationalist means sitting down and working out our differences not calling for foreign mercenaries the minute faulty election passes motion gets accepted.
