Juje Nicely put. But Mudane Johhny supporting the Djibouti peace caravan doesn't necessarily mean we should turn a blind eye to its short comings. The initiations of the caravan was a blessing and a better alternative to suicidal bombings and skirmishes against the occupations whose victims were none other than the subject to liberate, civilians. Nevertheless the caravan has made turns one after the other deviating from its original objective of attaining the Ethiopian withdrawal peacefully and convincing the naysayers that it could be done without the mass loss of Somali civilians. However on the contrary the caravan has all of sudden turned from confincing factor to enforcing attributes. Its designers desire narrowed down to govermental posts rather than their apparent ambition in the begining to rid the country of Ethiopian occupation. One clear evidence of this aspect is the objectives of their last agreed statement which the ink has not yet dried - the request to be accorded similar number of TFG parliamentarians in order to form a joint TFG parliament. Fair enough, disregarding their avarice one could not help notice their change of focus - from concentrating on the firm request for the withdrawal of the occupation to the desire of being within the entity that harbors on the Ethiopian occupation. Not mentioning the fact that their latest unexpected ambition has catapulted President Yeey into the lime light. The latter until recently was lonely, outcast and out maneuvered in the Somali political World. But Yeey has found friends in previous foes within the TFG. Suddenly the caravan was playing to the tune liked by Yeey - inclusion into the TFG. In simple words the caravan should have not ventured into the minefield of the TFG at this moment but rather should have concentrated more on the request of Ethiopian withdrawal and change would hgave eventually come as a result of it - but now we have the ARS Djibouti squabbling within over which group gets most seats in the new TFG parliament . Certainly it was not a scenario which was envisaged but brought about by the deviation of the caravan. Wrong analysis adeer the peace caravan is still the only universal solution to the Somali problem for it hit the nail when it said force cannot solve our problems but dialogue can. If it was up to you guys he would still be in Asmara towing Afwerki lines. When the Eritrean President refused to support the peace initiative on the notion that it was not in the interest of Eritrea to see the war stop Sh Sharif (not Sh Aweys or whoever is left in that city) was the one that left in order to pursue the interest of the Somali people. Many say why does he not wait until the TFG breaks apart the in fighting is already putting it into freefall, what a ridiculous statement to make by grown men, if I wasn’t kind with my words I would have thought many suffer from amnesia. Men who should know the consequences of anarchy are here calling for it, then again when their kids are tucked away safely and comfortably in London, Stockholm, Minnesota one has the luxury to utter what ever is on his mind. Sheikh Sharif’s interest is in the Somali people that’s why he started the peace initiative, if working with the TFG and Yey in the spirit of bipartisanship is in the interest of Somalia he will pursue it, the rise and fall of Yey and the TFG is not his concern what he is concerned about is the effect it has on the people. Ethiopia will withdraw nobody wants them here the question is of the methods to be used. 2 years of hard work by the Islamic fighters have benefited us in hurting the enemy even at the expense of the lives of our civilians, now they got the picture and let the wounded animal crawl back to his land. At this juncture in the History of Somalia there is no man more accepted by the people than Sheikh Sharif, so be prepared to swear your allegiance when the day comes or enjoy diasporic life like the lost children of Israel

Cirdey your comments remind me of this story I read A family left their horrid and troublesome city on one of their yearly vacations, they decided to go for a road trip, on their way to their final destination they stopped by a small town where a old man and his grandson were sitting next to a petrol station. The husband approached the old man and this is the conversation. Husband: Hi there we come from so and so city and are on holiday. Old man: Good for you Husband: Say there old man is this a good town to raise a family? Old man: It depends do you like the city you are coming from Husband: It’s a terrible place, the crime rate is high, too much noise, pollution and unfriendly people Old man: This small town is just the same, the people are rude and crime rate is high Husband: that’s sad to here anyway we are of now take care Old man: have a good trip Another family pulls up on holiday and make the same inquiry: 2nd Husband: Hi there we come from so and so city and are on holiday. Old man: Good for you 2nd Husband: Say there old man is this a good town to raise a family? Old man: It depends do you like the city you are coming from 2nd Husband: Well we come from a very pleasant city, the people are lovely. Old man: You have come to the right place this town is the best place to bring up kids we are very friendly and we cherish family life. 2nd Husband: Wow excellent I will discuss the possibility of moving here with my wife, we are going now take care Old man: have a good trip The young grandson is puzzled and asks “granddad why did you say bad stuff about our town to the first family and then praise it two the second family?” The old man replied “son the first man came with negative views of his own city what would he say about our little town when he moves here, while the second man praised his city and I could envisage having such a pleasant neighbour”

Peace Caravan v1.1: The coming of the Somali Republic!
Thierry. replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
Xiin how much truth is in the paragraph in bold and if it is true then it makes the situation for the caravan a lot easier as I thought we were dealing with a deeply entrenched ideological stance when it comes to our Al Shabaab brothers. Ethiopia and Somalia A promised withdrawal Dec 4th 2008 | NAIROBI From The Economist print edition Ethiopia says its troops will be out of Somalia soon. Will they? And then? IT TOOK Ethiopia two weeks in December 2006 and January 2007 to invade Somalia and crush fighters loyal to the Somali Islamic Courts Union. By contrast, it has taken two years for it to decide to withdraw, leaving the nastiest of the same Islamists in control of much of the country. Officially, Ethiopia is making good on a promise to quit, signed at peace talks in Djibouti last month between Somalia’s impotent transitional government and moderate Islamists. It has been reducing its presence for some time. Its intelligence network will remain on the ground, though some of its agents may well be killed by the ascendant jihadists. Several thousand of its troops will be stationed on Ethiopia’s side of the border, a day’s drive from Mogadishu, Somalia’s battered capital. The Djibouti agreement is supposed to swell Somalia’s parliament with moderate Islamists, promising the country the first broadly-based government it has known since the collapse of Siad Barre’s regime in 1991, the last time Somalia had anything approaching a government that controlled the whole country. In truth, the Ethiopians are leaving because they are fed up—with the vanity of Somalia’s president, Yusuf Abdullahi, and his constant bickering with his prime minister, Nur Hussein; fed up, too, with the listlessness of the African Union (AU) and the UN. Both have failed Somalia almost as entirely as its own leaders. The AU promised 8,000 troops to control Mogadishu but only 3,000 Ugandan and Burundian peacekeepers pitched up, and then only to protect a few key installations, while other parts of Mogadishu became ever more anarchic. The capital may now be in its worst shape ever. Several hundred thousand of its hungry people are in dangerous, squalid camps outside the city. The UN has tried to deliver aid, but its budget is far too small and the country is far too dangerous for aid workers, many of whom have been kidnapped and killed. Among Ethiopian officials and soldiers, a sense of quiet relief prevails; it could have been worse. Perhaps 800 Ethiopian soldiers have been killed. No one knows the cost of the operation or how much of it may have been borne by the United States, which egged on Ethiopia to invade. But the Ethiopians’ original aims, to shore up Meles Zenawi, their ruthless prime minister, and rout Ethiopia’s ethnic-Somali separatists in the country’s restive ****** region in the east, have largely been realised. Ethiopia, in any case, reckons that the jihadist fighters’ influence in Somalia is weaker than many observers think. It says the reason young men flock to the Shabab (Youth), the former armed wing of the Islamic Courts, wrap their faces in black scarves and kill in the name of Allah, has less to do with al-Qaeda’s virulent internet rhetoric than with the $100 monthly salary the Shabab pays . Somalia’s government forces have not been paid for months. Some Ethiopian officials may hope to be begged to stay on with all their costs paid for, but they know that is as unlikely as the UN sending a robust force of peacekeepers. So far, President-elect Obama’s team of foreign-policy advisers has given no hint that it will drastically change American policy in the Horn of Africa. Until someone has the courage and the equipment to intervene decisively on a large scale, Somalia will remain the world’s murkiest failed state, with ordinary Somalis trapped in their misery. -
Saxiib you look at things from a clan lens were as I look the situation wearing my party and ideological glasses. Make no mistake ARS formerly ICU just like the TFG is not a clan organisation but an inclusive opposition represented by religious folk, Diaspora and former TFG politicians. These people are united on the principle of peaceful negotiation with the interference of frontline nations. Nur Cade came to the post knowing of Gheedi and Yey’s legacy and how they destroyed Xamar and its inhabitants, the chest beating was not going to be the way of Nur Cade so he pursued the peace and negotiation root. The man faced lots of opposition from pro yey Ministers who blocked his initiatives. Nevertheless the man along with ARS and UN representative to Somalia formulated an agreement between the government and main opposition something Yey and Gheedi cold only dream of and this is by far the greatest achievement of the Yusufs TFG. You say Nur Cade is hurting his own chances with the Djibouti agreement adeer the man couldn’t give a toss as he said before he is willing to let Sheikh SHarif take his post if it will bring peace. His cabinet and Benadir admin will be dealt with but I suspect you want M Dheere back which isn’t going to happen. Now my turn Why did yey squander the Khartoum agreement in 2006 only to get less this turn around? Why is he calling for Ethiopia to stop interfering now when he was all for it a couple of years ago. What has he achieved in tenure and be honest with yourself saxiib you know me I am not hear to score some political points online (just a sincere question)

Duke Saxiib lets put the cutlery aside and give credit where it is due Nur Cadde has snatched the intelligent attack dog (Ethiopians) away from Yeys hand, he has politically out manoeuvred the old man gaining the support of UN, AU, US UK, major clans in the South and bringing on board the popular opposition (ARS). The fact that Puntland would support Yey stance what ever it is was predictable and does not change much. Secondly seeking comfort the comfort of SH Aweys does not change anything either as you previously said he and the Asmara group are an isolated bunch. The only real obstacle the agreement has is the Al Shabaab and they to will have no option but to support what their power base supports. The size of the parliament yadi yada is only administrative problems it will be trimmed down and become more inclusive.

Norf the heat is getting to your head man get back up North, you probably saw a Bengali midget restaurateur carrying the ingredients for his tandoori chicken and you thought you were dreaming lool.

The difference between Yey supporters and supporters of ARS is that we re confident in ourselves to disagree with the party line. I disagree with Nuur Adde based on principle although I know where he is coming from (power vacuum = Anarchy) but lets not forget Nuur Adde is still part of the current administration that Yey formed its not his fault that the masters prefer him over is President.

Say what Emperor naga daa the current one hasn’t even finished yet. Don’t try to steal our limelight this is the dawn of the Sharifies, Yusifites are yesterdays news. These constant calls for conferences and change reminds me of the UKSSA (NinBrown)
-
Emperor don’t put all your eggs in M Dheere’s basket he has become an insignificant character even within his own sub clan and most from the said clan are in line with their two golden boys Sh Sharif and PM Nuur Cadde. Saxiib his H.E Yusuf Axmed has two choices either get with Nuur Cadde's program or get out of the picture, and it appears he is heeding the advice as the “chief negotiator” in the Djibouti agreement
-
I will agree with the poster with the exception of recent squabbles with senior Xiin and Juje in the past GD has been very civil and to the point in his arguments. Although we disagree on almost all political points I wouldn’t mind having Duke on my side

Do you remember the genealogy experiment channel 4 carried out last year, which revealed that several active bnp members had African descendants. This is a case of the upper class taking two thirds of the cake, the middle class taking the other third and working class (BNP stronghold) complaining that foreigners are sharing the crumbs with them. The Bnp in a cunning way has channelled the anger the working class whites have, towards immigrants rather than the hat cats above them. After operating Lazy G thuggish comments I kind of agree with her immigrants including Somalis are fuelling the problem with the various frauds and their lack of work ethics.

Although I think it is to early carry out political obituary on yeey as the old dog my still pull something out, however some dramatic changes are tacking place. All this time Nuur Cadde was perceived as a weak pushover Zambia part 2 Ps: Xiino lets take a fuel break until this inner tfg squabble finishes before we consume on the peace caravan journey. Dhubad just imagine this is my main argument with blind Yeeysters, I have been telling them Ethiopia is out for their own interest and it will backfire, nay they say yeey will control the Somali dominion, now them and their leader is standing on their last legs when they could have signed on the dotted line in Khartoum 2 years ago.

Nino B you hit the nail You should try and other Muslims should try and stop to stop oppression. I don’t think you should report them unless imminent loss of life is about to occur and you and fellow Muslims are unable to stop it. What if I over hear on one of my regular visits to Regents park Masjid some brothers talking of a plot to use anthrax on Guys and Saint Thomas Hospital, say I advice them not to do such actions as it is prohibited in Islam and they agree yet I wake up in the morning to find BBC news telling me of the exposure.

Peace Caravan v1.1: The coming of the Somali Republic!
Thierry. replied to xiinfaniin's topic in Politics
Look its next impossible to co-exist with Al Shabaab, my disagreement with AS goes back to late 2006 when they were the armed wing of ICU. They disobeyed orders then and still refuse to take the advice of elders, leader and the Culema. Inshallah I make Dua that Allah guides them to right path and that they come back from this extreme. Ps Xiino adeer don’t go into a futile argument with the loosing camp again, it only defames your good name. -
