Congratulations Mooge, you won unanimously and without question. i would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and give you my deepest-felt hambalyo's for becoming president-elect of SOL... congratulations! all hail the Nomad of the Year for 2012..... 4. Like to thank everyone who took part of this. My only regret is, this should've only been two week at the most, and not have taken this long (found out you can't edit poll dates ). Thanks everyone. So as of this post, Mooge you have 40 votes buddy. So I am going to declare you the 2012 Nomad of the year winner. You weren't really part of the 10 original nominees, but got added to the list and you have the most votes. Special thanks to Abigiis, Alpha Blondy and Bluelicious who came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd position.
  5. China has officially opened the world's longest high-speed rail route, linking the capital Beijing with the southern commercial hub of Guangzhou. The first bullet train left Beijing on Wednesday morning. Trains will initially travel at 300km/h (187mph), more than halving travel time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-20842836
  6. Nin doqon ah ayaa wiilkiisa ku yiri isna doqon ahaa... "Maalintii aan kutukanay salaada jimcaha masjidka hebel, goormeey aheed? " Wiilkii ayaa kujawaabay, Aabe, waan halmaamay, laakinse waxaan umaleynayaa ineey aheed maalin Talaado ah". Aabihii ayaa asagana ugu jawaabay, waa runtaa.
  7. I have seen videos of both sides doing some really horrific things to one another. I don't ever see the two groups sitting down together and working out a solution...one of 'em has to be completely defeated or has to throw in the towel, that's how much they hate each other. Just for the sake of their people and country, hopefully they could come to a deal and end this bloodshed. That's just my opinion.
  8. Nin ayaa xaaskiisa ka dhoofay, oo dibadaha aaaday. Wuxuu u soo diri jiray E.mail uu oranayaa "waxaan kuu soo diray, 100 dhunkasha ah" (kiss/shumis) oo wax lacag ahna ma usoo diri jirin. Maalintii danbe ayeey ayadana email u dirtay oo tiri "kuwii korontada ayaa guriga yimid, oo lacagna ma u heen, waxaan siiyay 20 kiss, kii biyahana waxaan siiyay 20 kiss, kii cowska jarijireyna waxaan asagana siiyey 20 kiss, dukaankii deenta nagu lahaana, asagana 40 kiss. Marka saas u ogoow kiss kii aad soo dirtay saas ayaan u bixiyey".
  9. Gabar reer koonfur ayaa aragtay oday reer waqooyi oo cadeysanaya, markaasey tiri "Adeerow, cadayga dabada wax yar iiga jabi". Odaygii oo yaaban oo geesaha eeg eegaya, ayaa wuxuu yiri, hadii aan kaaga jabsho, soo kuma xanuunayo.
  10. I don't think anycity, Somalia had anything close to 500 homicides. Even Mogadishu didn't had that many killings. And as for Chicago, this will only stop when the people doing all the killings decide it's enough or are put behind bars.
  11. The argument about if Somalis are Arabs or Africans has been going on as long as I've been on the Internet and it still looks like there is no consensus as to which side we are on. I think it should be be upto to the individual to choose which side they identify with more. And for the Somali girl who is running for this beauty contest, good for her and I hope she wins. I don't see anything wrong with it.

  15. The 218.339.2500 phone conference thingy? That would be nice as long as it's private to keep the Qashin away, or you know who is coming into the room. I haven't been on it in almost a yr now, because of the ciyaals oo marwalba qolka Qarxiyo. Also, if that's the one u are talking about, wouldn't be long distance call for anyone outside of the U.S?

  17. nuune;902416 wrote: According to Western istatistikis, there is 77 death in every 1000 born, good news for aid workers as they cash more. Somalia proper population is now heading towards 19.7 million, if we add NFD to that it will be 28.3 million, add to Somali Galbeed, and we have 32.2 million, now add to Djibouti and total we have 48 million Somaliweyn, don't forget to add Somalis in the diaspora, that makes it 57.3 million in total of all Somalis from all corners of the world. Source LoL, Djibouti can't help us in this one. Because they haven't even passed the 1 million mark yet (no disrespect to Djiboutis ) and maybe even half of them aren't Somalis. If anything, i believe we are about about 25-30 million and this is counting EVERY ethnic Somali in the world.
  18. Apophis;902399 wrote: I suspect the Ethios have fudged the numbers to mooch more aid. No way is it 91 million. Yo let me ask you this, you are Somali Ethiopian right? Were you born there? Ever been to Somalia? What's your views/opinion about Somalis/Somalia? If this is little too personal, you dont have to answer it. I met few Somali Ethiopians in my life time (last one 2 months ago) and they all seemed cool peeps.
  19. Naxar Nugaaleed;902395 wrote: Since we don't have more accurate statistics concerning ethio-SOMALI growth rate, nothing to worry about Do you think maybe it's more than the 6% they are saying or do you think its lower than that?
  20. I think it's true, because if you look at Egypt, their population has grown about the same rate as that of Ethiopia (added almost 20 million from 2005-06, till now). So it's not just about the government making up numbers. Now, why it has grown so fast in a relatively short period of time, i don't know (better hospitals? lack of family planning? more than one wife? longevity?) but they have grown real quick.
  21. Last time i checked they were around 64 million people and this was around 2005-06. Seems like our Ethiopian neighbors have been busy, because according to the latest CIA world factbook, it now has a population of 91 million (2012 numbers). Wikipedia and the BBC country profile both put it at 84 (2011). Ethnic Somalis still make up 6.2% of the population, and i can imagine they too have grown too. This puts things in perspective for me walle.

  23. In 1981, he was given an indeterminate jail sentence after being convicted of beating his 92-year-old grandmother to death. The manslaughter conviction saw him spend more than 17 years in prison before his release in 1998. Authorities said he remained on parole until 2006, but that there were no further recorded incidents of brushes with the law. Should've just kept him inside. It just seems like things are getting worse and worse.
