Sounds like a good idea. $16 sounds kinda high, but if its just for the Qurbo joogs and those from Dibadaha, than they can afford that and more. If you include a dance hall/floor than you can make even more money. And if you serve Alcohol, you can instantly become a Somali millionaire over night.

MMA, waa dumarka sxb waxa dadka lacagtooda fiiriya. Hadii eey arkaan inaadan lacag ama maal aadan laheen, iska daa ineey kula hadlaan, xitaa dhinacaaga ma soo fiirinayaan. Waa nasiib daro. Laakinse, i talked to this guy one time who said people got $50k for appearing as an extra in that movie, with all expenses paid for by the movie studios (dunno if he was lying to me).

The real question is, would she have dated him if he wasn't a movie actor or famous? I think not. Btw, the Cadaan guy behind him, isnt' that the Psycho guy from that movie ConAir?

Alpha Blondy, sxb, what do you about all this change? I am still trying to get used to this whole change, and it would probably take me some time to feel comfortable with it. Its not as it use to be, thats for damn sure.

I dunno about Italy, but I remember reading some people in here saying they lived in Sweden or Norway. I met two people from here who were visiting from London. Showed them around the city, went clubbing and just drove around. I am sure other nomads have met in person too.

Very disturbing to watch. The 32 minute mark was the hardest to watch, with the smugglers abusing them and beating. Very sad.

English words that are most likely of Somali origin

Wadani;991709 wrote: What's your proof for that statement? English is relatively new, with the most recent form of the language which would be intelligible to modern speakers dating back only to approx 1500 a.d. Old English (approx 500 a.d.-1000 a.d.) and Middle English (approx 1000a.d.-1500 a.d.) are so different from current English that they can essentially be deemed different languages. I doubt a current Somali nomad and a nomad from the 14 century would find themselves in a situation of mutual unintelligibility. We haven't had the waves of foreign immigration it would take to fundamentally change the structure and vocabulary of Somali, which was the case in England with the Normandy invasion in 1066 a.d. and the subsequent introduction of thousands of loan words from French into English. I dunno, but i highly doubt English has borrowed from Somali. -

Its probably the other way around. English has existed much longer than Somali, probably hundred yrs longer. And we only came into contact with the English at the end of WW2 until 1960's. I don't think that's long enuff for them to learn Somali, incorporate it into their language, and then spread it in much of the rest of the world -- including the U.S and Australia. Also, Light = Leeyr (Nal). -
