How do you cope with relative's expectations on getting married?

Toronto teacher Abshir Hassan dead, 2 injured in overnight shooting
Nin-Yaaban replied to GaraadMon's topic in General
@galbeedi said: Nin Yaaban, horta saaxiib ma "detective" baad tahay, or are you involved in some kind of law enforcement profession. The reason I am asking is usually, the police people are always skeptical of every crime. Also they assume most people are up to no good. I do not know the facts of these case, but during the Ramadaan, people stay up late. Taraawiix starts around 11 pm, and even my kids, when they go to mosque for Taraawiix they come home around 1am. Maybe he tried to help dangerous kids, who knows. Galbeedi, sxb, most people that goto Taraaxwiiix, dont end up getting murdered. So whats your point? Ok, maybe he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and maybe, just maybe, some Qashin with no regard for life or for anyone else took his life. All i am saying is, there is more to this than they are letting us know. AUN to the victim and those that were injured, ilaahay caafimaad deg deg ha siiyo. This is the problem with Canadien police, they release almost no info regarding to anything. This leaves people to make speculations and make their stuff up. Galbeedi sxb, maybe u, blackflash and Safferz could call up the local Toronto PD's Info line and try to get us more info. -
Toronto teacher Abshir Hassan dead, 2 injured in overnight shooting
Nin-Yaaban replied to GaraadMon's topic in General
If i had to guess, i'd say there is more to this than what they are telling us. First of all, AUN to Abshir Hassan, cidiisana Samar iyo Iiman. But why would a teacher be out after 12 oclock hanging out with 18yr olds and a 20yr old kid? You are 31, those are the same age group of kids you probably teach....so why hang out with 'em? If i had to guess, i would say this guy (AUN) was either at the wrong place at the wrong time, or he was involved in some weird stuff. Back when i lived in Virginia, there was a Middle School Principal who was found dead in his home in Montgomery county, MD. This happened in 2009 or 2010 i think and he worked at some public school in DC. Anyways, 2yrs later after he was found murdered in his home, the cops found out he was soliciting (posting ads) and meeting young boys on Craigslist for sex. Anyways, i hope they find justice for Abshir and arrest the person who was responsible for this. Too bad they dont have the death penalty, or life without parole in Canada. AUN to Abshir Hassan though. -

@SomaliPhilosopher said: Was considering spending a week in addis but don't think so in light of u.s. recent travel warning specific to Somalis Well, that never seems to stop Somalis from going to Somalia anyway. Almost 30+ and with travel advisory warnings, Somalis have been flocking to the motherland on the plane loads. U can't let lil government warning stop you from enjoying what you do.

How is my beloved Mexican Team doing in all of this? My Mexican neighbors (and there are quit few of 'em) have been poppin the Corona's and alcohol and getting drunk (Mexicans and Spanish people would get drunk for any reason). Could hear their music from 2 houses down. I got invited by this El Salvadorian dude i work with to come watch the games with him, drinks, and everything provided. Well, i am rooting for any Spanish speaking Team to take the world cup. Brazil has won one too many times, its time the Amigos won. Only wish Somalia or Djibouti was playing.

Barefooted Child Found Wandering Alone In Birmingham Streets
Nin-Yaaban replied to gooni's topic in General
1. Kid should immediately be placed in foster care, or put up for adoption so he can find a family that would love him. 2. The parents should be brought up on child neglect charges (who doesn't know where their 4yr old is in the middle of the night? Charge 'em, post their pictures, names and addresses) 3. If there are more kids in that household, take 'em out too. The parents were probably high on Khat, or getting drunk off that Khamro bottle. Very simple. -

@Libaax-Sankataabte said: Awoowe, your complaint about CiidanSuldan was received, but banning a nomad based solely on the recommendation of another nomad is something SOL admins never practice. CidanSuldan is a nomad with strong opinions, but as long as he plays by the rules, we can't make him post opinions you like. It is how the forum's continuity works. As is customary, post your own thoughts or interesting topics to counter balance the rants of others. It is an open forum. If you come to SOL to consume content and not contribute, you then risk of being overrun by those whose opinion is not your cup of tea. Staying inactive and complaining about others on SOL is not going to make your experience here any more pleasant. Send me or other moderators a note if you have other thoughts or suggestions. Awoowe, hada laga bilaabo, u dont have to worry about me sending you a PM or such a thing....or xitaa engaging you in conversation. Marka iga raali noqo sxb (hadii aan kuu gafay). MMA, Nuune, and Admin.....shaqo fiican ayaad wadaan. Meeshaas ka siiwada.

Alpha is still going strong....ii waran sxb. Iyaamahan mawada hadalno (xarash miyaa leysku hayaa, mise waa la'iska xiisa dhacay). Maxaa cusub, warka soo daa. Maxaa isku dhacaayo, maxaana kala dhacayo. After SoL went to this new look, it got boring and weird. I sent couple of complaint PMs to LSK iyo Admin (like they ever listen), so i dont come here a lot anymore. Once a while.

Adnan, not photo shopped. But if Holac drove this in Fairfax, or Loudoun County (or where ever he lives), he would've been cited for tinted windwos, and that Somalia thingy thats blocked his rear window.

Safferz does get around a lot eh. Probably been to a lot of countries at your young age than most of us have. Post some location pictures, eh.

@galbeedi said: Did I mention that I also do care a lot about my other country Canada?. We came from a war torn country and they did open their doors to us. Gave us an opportunity to make a living and raise a family. The Canadian middle class pays most of the taxes and is the backbone of the country. This i agree with you 100% sxb...you have to be grateful for those that have given you an opportunity to live in their country. It pisses me off when i see Somalis here in the U.S who are ungrateful for living here, and just try to find anything to whine and complain about the natives. These are all 2nd generation, or have came here very young. They are rude and very vocal. Maybe Apophis need to go live in Somalia for couple of months and get back to us if he still hates Meeshuu ku nool yahay. Galbeedi, i am the say way sxb, when i am out in public, i do everything i can to conform to what every else is doing...and not being noticed or standing out. And not because i dont want 'em to think Somalis are all like that (most of 'em couldn't find Somalia on the map), its because in person, i am very timid, quit and kinda lil shy and hate making a scene. Couple of yrs ago, i was at this shopping mall in Minnesota looking for a parking spot, when this Camry almost side swipes me and parks at the Handicapped spot. And guess who the occupants of the car were....Yep, Somalis. But here is where it gets funny. Since it was some kinda holiday, and parking was kinda hard to get, this Cadaan lady walks up to them and tells 'em to move their car. They had no placards, or plates that had that lil blue wheel chair thingy on it that says u are disabled. The fuckkers get out of the car (3 males and 1 female, all Somalis) and started arguing with the lady about why it was none of her business where they parked. This shitt goes on for almost 10 minutes and i am just sitting there shaking my head walahi. I felt like stepping out and telling 'em to park somewhere.....Waxaan rabay in aan iraahdo, Hooyadiin wase, sida wax loo akhriyo mataqaniin miyaa? Meeshaan waxaa loogu talagalay baabuurta curyaamiinta. Laakinse waxaan ka baqay in eey ugu boodan, oo eey rif rifaan. They looked kinda weird too, probaby high off khat or some other drugs. So i just left. -

Galbeedi ur not that weird Wadani guy from Canada are u? Either way, u seem like u have very good intentions and ur heart is at the right place. But I am afraid you'd be in for a major let down if u continue to get bothered by what others do. In my 29yrs here in this world, if there was something I learned early in life, it was u can't predict human behavior, even those that are family members. I had family member who stabbed another man over some petty disputes and left him with a life changing injuries. And this was someone who in a million yrs I would never thought would do something like that. That's when I realized people are unpredictable. LoL if two Farax's talking loudly (and probably spitting as they talked) gets u all riled up and upset, than u have a good life and live in a sheltered life. U should see some of the folks I come into contacts on daily basis....Mexicans, Cadaans, Madows, and yes Somalis. Dredges of society, people with no respect for anyone and would tell u that right off the bat. Sxb the few rude Somalis u meet up in Canada shouldn't make u think all Somalis are like that. Just remember, the Somali speaking Qowmiyad is around 15-20 million. There millions that u never hear about that go about their life's without being rude, inconsiderate or nasty. And that goes for every other race that god put in this world. -
No Humanity Here: Documentary on Islii harassment
Nin-Yaaban replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in General
To think i spend 4yrs of my life in that country feels weird. Things have changed alot. When we lived there, all we had to worry about was the occasional police raids who were looking for undocumented people without papers...but once you paid 'em off, they left you alone for the most part. Things has def changed ALOT. Good luck to the Somalis there. Nice video sxb. -
I am a British citizen, not a second-class citizen - By Jamal Osman
Nin-Yaaban replied to Admin's topic in General
Jamal Osman seems like he accomplished a lot in life...if he has spooks making offers for houses, cars and nice paycheck. LooL. Thats nothing to complain about Too bad the Feds here in the U.S don't do such a thing, I guess i am stuck in my minimum wage job until they come knocking and offering me to become a spy. And then it would be.....'Halkee saxiixa' (where do i sign). -

First of all, congratulations to your son for graduating, i am sure you both are proud. Having said that, you had a good story going until you injected HAG, Somaliland, Puntland, Mogadishu and Siyaasad into it. That's when i stopped reading. If people arriving late for ur sons graduation ceremony has bothered you enuff, you should've directly said something to them and let 'em know they were inconveniencing you when everyone else was on time. People would always continue to let you down, or disappoint you, if they don't meet ur expectations. That's when you either let 'em know about it, or just take it as a man and move on with your life. Galbeedi, dont beat yourself up about what others do. You wont be held responsible for their behavior or for their personal conduct....if they do anything to disappoint you, you address it right then and right there.
