  1. "A-J-U-U-R-A-A-N KINGDOM 1400/1780 Hobyo the ancient port of Somalia was the commercial centre of the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n Sultanate, based in Qalafo . All the commercial goods grown or harvested along the Shabelle river were brought to Hobyo to trade, as Hobyo remained the active mercantile pitstop of ancient times. The A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n rulers collected their tribute from the town in the form of sorghum (durra), and the port of Hobyo was incredibly profitable for the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n sultans. Hobyo's A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n rulers were allies of the Mogadishu Sultanate, and trade between Hobyo and the Banaadir coast flourished for some time. So vital was Hobyo to the prosperity of the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n Sultanate that when a clan successfully revolted against the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n and established an independent Imamate of the Hiraab , the power of the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n sultans crumbled within a century," "not much is known about this mysterious powerfull kingdom ..............." interesting information, any lead where i can find more info on the A-j-u-u-r-a-a-n Kingdom thanks

    KHAT WINE ????

i hear also they want to produce khat juice in ethiopia to be sold all across khat consuming countries. you will soon find blended khat juices marketted as energy drink like the V drink in a store near you soon. Innovative or not the debate on this one has already began with some people advocting for the drink version of khat as having less social and health issues from the traditional leave chewing.

    I feel HOMESICK

i was strolling on the park today, just took sometime out, and while at the park, i saw on one side some people having good times, couples tuck together in a corner, a group of family members making tasty babaques. Few yards later i see a mam and dad and son who must have been about 2yrs tosing golf ball, the young boys stambles as he tried to outrun dad and sits up crying when he realised the dirt on his shirt. Everywhere i look in the park i see happy people enjoying with little worries, i see around people feeling top of the world, that they have it and i dont. Now i have been to parks before but this one gave me a strange feelings-homesick, i have never felt like this before. The mood and feelings were so strong that i decided and out of nowhere that i book a ticket and visit home next month for a long time. i will go, i will go and see mam, dad, and my relatives, i will go and take a stroll in the streets and outskits of my hometown, i will sit with my people and just talk with them, i long for this, ten year has been long, i cant wait to go now. Any of you ever had such strong urges of homesick
  12. Thanks Lex, Miracles indeed
  13. Read the miracle of a fish which was caught off indian ocean shores with message of "wallahu khairu raziqin" incripted on it. Subhanallah! Oh Sorry for the double post. Fisherman Abdul Wahid shows a Koranic message on a fish caught in Mombasa yesterday. Photo by Jack Owuor. Hundreds of Muslims thronged Takaungu Fresh Fish Shop in old Town to have a glimpse of the fish, caught off Vanga Town near Tanzania and brought for sale at Mr Omar Mohammed's shop, who spotted the message as he placed the catch in a refrigerator. Secretary-general of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya Sheikh Mombasa Dor said the message was a reminder from God that we should not forget His teachings. "This has been confirmed as a verse from the Holy Koran in Arabic language. We believe that God brings these kinds of messages in many forms from time to time and that we should not only read the Holy Book, but practise what it says," he said. District commissioner Mohamed Maalim said the message was baffling for its clarity. "It is so clearly spelt and that is why we believe that Allah is sending a message to mankind," he said. Sheikh Dor said they would approach Fort Jesus Museum to preserve the fish. Catholic bishop Boniface Lele however said people did not need extra revelations to know they had strayed from God's teachings. "People need not be reminded to follow the teachings of the God... they should always practise what they read," he said.

    Taking A Turn

This is funny. Everytime we engage in any discussion it becomes endless- like cat and mouse game. Dont you see how you turned my innocent well intention reply to you-Ya Allah. "GM...Dont I just hate writing that name. Anyways GM, I shell put my hatre outside the Islam section." and then you went on to say "GM...I know that me and you aint the best of friends....but hopefull we will learn to get alone one day...Inshallah" where do you get this ideas from.I dont know where this hate you are talking stems from or why. By the way hate is a big word to use at somebody you have not even met before. I dont hate you for the records. Somebody once told me that when a sister says she hates you she means she...........(fill the gaps)lol. "I quote people because I let them know that there funny ot just plain wrong is there anything wrong with that?" you missed the point there. I am not talking about qouting people and commenting on it as i am doing now...lol (this is allowed as long as you do not misquote people), i was refering the heading of your topics being all in quotation marks. As a matter of fact i have found you not as fluent as you were when you quoted people in your previous posts..lol "Might I add You dont reply to anyone else besides me huh? I wonder why~ Then again I dont want to know." May be you are an interesting person, dont you think. You see you are so tactful... but let me not get into this now. And do you read all posts in SOL and look which ones i have replied to and which i havent? I do reply to others but you know they are not as tactful as you are...lol 'I did wear my Haijab when I didnt pray because I knew that my faith was still there & I was right' MASHALLAH! 'Some people pary 5 times a day & still dont waar their Haijab' Did you mean the other way round lo. But let us stop all this, did you pray for me..lol

mizz... i have noticed something strange about your topics-not your many quest about Allah and Islam but Why do you put your new topics all in quotes. Just wondering. Lately i have found new ways to skim through new topics, i look for topics with quotation marks and i just open it without a doubt that its one of your topics...lol
  18. Just to add one more on what has already been said- Do as much DHIKR (rememberance of Allah) as you can by sayying-subahannallah, alhamdhulillah, Allahu akabar walaa illaha illa Allah at least 100 times after every salat. Where is brother Nur when you need him most?

    Taking A Turn

Mizz... you disappoint me sometimes wallahi. i was contemplating how best i could reply to you for sometime without ruining my proudness of your 'NEW YOU'. Instead you slapped me in the face. Myabe this is your style or nature. I dont know how reminding you about hijjab is an insult to you, for all i know my intention was to remind you about it. I did not mean you are a bad person in anyway, it is not for me to judge you at all. Incase you didnt know in Islam reminding is the key. Allah says keep reminding each other(that is in goodness) because reminding helps. Your NEW YOU cannot be immune to that..lol. That you did never put your hijjab down while you didnt pray is surprising but yet respectable and amazing and I have nothing but being proud of you sister. i am proud because i know with your Hijjab and prayers there is an Islamic family in the making for the Muslim ummah at a time when the ummah is facing many difficulties. Mizz.. could i ask you to pray for me for Allah to strenghthen my Iman. I would like to say "thank you" to that in advance Let us drop the convert Muslim thing , we seem to violently disagree on this anyway, untill its right time. Qaqa. The sister and i live in the same Geographical location-Kiwis and Auzies are rivals you know that? Mizz...is a nice sister except sometimes she just gets hash. Nothing is between us saxiib.

salaam Mizz lex... Mashallah i was happy to read this, may Allah continue to guide you and us all in the right path Inshallah. Remember prayers is very important sister and once you have established it correctly and clean your niyah for Allah every thing in your life becomes easy-your rizq, relationship with others, parents and relatives, your studies and job etc...please dont let the world disconnect you from Allah. Allah is final abode. How about you try your Hijjab as well and see how beautiful you look like? pS is this a sign youll marry a convert muslim and who has a dark skin lol .. I hope you have repented on that discussion....remember what you said????

    Nomad Couples

Mizz lexus... you make me laugh. I actually did not want to comment but here is the answers, hope this will not end like the other thread again. "How about me and GENTLEMAN...Not bad huh?" well i dont think this is bad at all if you are willing to be my second wife lol. "Aussie + Kiwi= oz/kiwi What do you reckon GENTLEMAN?" A kiwi and an Auzie always make a good couple. I heard many kiwis this days move to Auzie to get married there. They say Auzies have beautiful ladies, how true is this? "MiZz_LeXuS and GENTLEMAN two oppposites, Opposties attract... " that is not true. we have alot in common-we are neighbours and we come from the same continent, i dont think we are opposites.
  22. Entrepreneur, well writen piece sxb.
  23. You are not serious about this Nur, are you? I have read your propossed course in Somalinet and the long argument that followed, never the less i think it would be a desired learning experience for some few faraxs. I dont think i am one of the faraxs brother, and right now my long time engament angel sends me rose flowers and love letters writen in pink ink everytime, she is just so beautiful i cant wait to see her this coming summer when we would get married.....lol. Brother noor thanks for the kind offer but my lady tels me you dont need such course, and i am just fabulous and GM. What do you think i should do?, i wouldnt mind taking your class for the fun of it though. But i came to think of this- you are a brother, how would you know and teach us what exactly our sisters want unless you are the single male in your family lol. isnt it more appropriate for a sister to run such course, a sister who knows the real thing. let us nominate the sister that is capable to run such seminar for the faraxs. I nominate Muslimah, Hibo and Silent sister. Why Hibo, i dont know but she looks descent and upto date girl. Oh wonder girl could run a similar workshop too but i dont think she can be as competent as the other three because.....she
  24. ''.....it is a competitive times, being mediocre is not a blissful trait. For that reason, Somali men must re-envent themselves anew and market themselves with a more polished image.'' You are funny brother. Things are turning exactly as you said. The stakes has been set high, Ilaahey haunaxareesto the faraxs. ''That is why I offered special services such as cooking, homemaking, babysitting and brakefast in bed, for a raving response, I may even entice my potential spouse with a gentle foot massage after a tiresome work day ( at home of course). And that is not all of my arsenal, I leave the rest for her imagination.'' I can do that too brother Nur if it means wining the somali lady lol.
  25. Thank you brother Nur. I read in another thread where you described the four things or qualities on which you base your mariage as a muslim. Among this was Akhlaq of the person and this is considered the best of the choises to go with if the other three fails. I have no problem with choise. For example if the sister says i dont want to marry the brother because he is not very handsome is understandable but is it acceptable for a muslim to neglect marriage to a brother just because the brother is coloured? I fell this is absolutely predujicial and wrong for a muslim person to entertain. offcourse i am not calling for our somalis sister to sart marying the black races but if you chose to mary a brother because he converted and became a muslim then you should not chose him based on the skin of his colour rather his intention and akhlaq.
