There is a hadith that repeats three times against anger. Here anger led to the death of another human being. Don't see how this is pre-mediated - in any case should 2 people be killed for something that happened in the heat of the moment. The judge should have given them a longer sentence. Samir iyo eeman to the family. Though the mom strikes me as a bit starry-eyed regarding her son. If he wasn't such a punk he'd probably be alive today.

Haven't been following this stuff. What is this all about? Shouldn't Mahiga have known his main constituent wasn't coming? What's gonna happen with the end of the mandate - don't they need UN blessing whatever happens?

Somalia: British Delegation visited Garowe, meet SSC elders..pics
ElPunto replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Interesting thread There is hierarchy of things here. The first thing is for SSC to be united - really. Here some will jump in and say the majority are anti-Somaliland and secession. But when your capital is held by a minority that supports secession - you have a serious problem. There wouldn't be any of these invasions and killings if the clan had a coherent leadership and agenda. As for the Puntland admin - it has failed to support its constituents as it should though I do feel for them. Whom do you listen to and how do you help folks when you're getting denounced at the same time? Ultimately Puntland has to move to an accountable government elected by voters not this corrupt system of bribing elders. But Puntland needs strong stakeholders to acheive that goal and the SSC in disarray is a major impediment. Leave Duke along - I hear he gave a rather large donation for the Kalshaale fundraising and did not expect this level of disrespect. Kidding -
^Anaka wadaan kuma cabno qaxwaha. Everything is bigger and cheaper south of the border. A medium coffee equals extra large in Canada. You go to Mcdonalds and for 5 bucks you can feed yourself and 2 friends. It's no wonder everyone wuu naaxay.

Somalia: Puntland drought update..Livestock traders donate $50,000.0
ElPunto replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
It would be nice to know what the admin is spending on drought relief. After all people pay taxes and those taxes should be used to their benefit. All you hear is that govt has given X region donated food - and that comes from international donors. Zero accountability. -
^Exactly. That was what my sister said. I don't think so. But a lot of ppl love it. You can never understand people's tastebuds.
-
^It's very good - I've had it. Not available in O-town or anywhere else apart from that area. We always think small - even with the success of Hamdi and the like. Anyone have the Chai latte at Starbucks - Somali shah - even a poorly made one would be better.

I have heard Qolobaa was the one more sung in public and used as the national anthem. Both beautiful. When you see the videos you see how far we've fallen. Dad aan jirin baa la noqday.

^LOL - too true. Let's face it folks practically everything in Canada is owned by Americans. Don't like coffee so don't go to Starbucks. But even if I did - it's too damn expensive. Just buy Tim's French. If there was a decent place that serve shah Somali - I would spend a lot more on hot beverages.

LOL@A hairy arab in a cave is not my leader That was classic stuff from our former resident Arab hater. I find it strange that some Muslims get so offended by this stuff - if some random stranger says something negative about the Prophet - Allah will give him his punishment in the hereafter. It's simply not a productive use of your time to get worked up so easily.

^It is exciting stuff. You should join.

Good stuff. Though I think their 2012 campaign with regard to visiting all those cities is more than a bit amibitous. I noticed most of the folks there were UK students - would be interesting to know how much they've branched out. Also - there are people who have graduated and may be able to make a contribution. Maybe they should have an alumni chapter.

^True. We just ruined our own country. And invaded the West. A friend of a friend got a call from a guy who made it to Brazil and managed to cross thru Central and South America before meeting up with a coyote to take him from Mexico to the US. War ileen belo.

^Well it's true. So many incidents could be avoided.

Funny. It still doesn't change the fact he's a coward. He just should've told her to take a hike a long time ago.

Allegations of this kind hinge on credibility. If you're not automatically going to report the crime against you - then keep quiet about it as justice will be done in the hereafter. I don't like the public spectacle the purported victim is making out of this incident - simply going to the police and naming the alleged attacker would have sufficed. Also - it is never wise for a woman to invite a strange man to your home and be alone with him.

The song is an unsubtiantiated attack. So what? Who cares? No need to write paragraphs in support of DS.

Somewhere in all of this needless controversey lurks Marx. I guarantee it.

^We have no basis of determining nationality except the features and the name. Unless someone knows otherwise....not sure that claiming him to be mixed is relevant. Edit - Not sure why folks are rushing to claim he's Somali unless you have direct knowledge.
-
Woohoo(?) - for once it's not us. Pretty sure he's not Somali unless someone knows otherwise. The last name is a giveaway as is the picture. He looks South Asian to me.

There should be a referral thread for this sort of question. It comes up often enough.

It's a bit much. He could've walked into any quiet building like a library or museum and taken out his saali and prayed.

This guy is a prick. Before the financial crisis - Dubai and other similar places could do no wrong. They were the example of a 'progressive', 'moderate' Muslim country. Emulate them was the motto of the day. And now this.
