Will never happen. The minute you put the camera up - they think you're gonna use their stories for your own benefit. Dadkaan waa constantly suspicious. And the whole dollar thing is somewhat demeaning - I reckon it's better if you say - we'll collect all your stories and the one judged best will win the whole prize.

Nothing personal against this guy. But what do so many Somalis seem to think that doing 'something' back home requires their participation in and assumption of political power. Why not invest in a community or business - make a difference that way - why must it always be about political power? Hore lo yiri about Somalis - everyone a chief and no indians.

Congrats - mashallah.

Hilarious. Unnatural beauty standards? Is anyone actually going for diaphonous see thru skin or advertising a beauty product that does? It can't be a beauty standard if it isn't acheivable in the first place.

^It's mostly about culture. The black culture seems to have declined markedly since the 60s. Many things inherently negative are tolerated or even deemed praiseworthy. Doesn't seem to be changing. Bill Cosby got into trouble some years back for talking about this.

Konza(kenya)where africa's silicon savannah begins.

Seems more like a real estate venture that also seeks to attract tech companies. Good luck to them. Kenya has a lot of well educated people but much of the capital is in the hands of foreigners/minorities which tends to breed resentment. -
I don't understand how this guy is not arrested. Isn't the self defense motive something that should be proved in court - after all he admitted that he shot and killed the kid. Good ole USA. Obama is a wimp. Timid about healthcare, timid about taking on the Republicans, timid about speaking out on this - now only after weeks of protests has he finally spoken.

Breaking News: Legend Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed has passed away....
ElPunto replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
AUN. Must we rehash the old arguments? I have a feeling this news will result in that. -
^Don't pay attention to King. If you've got anything that is more than just a rehash of the above positions don't hold back. BTW - I"m not singing anything. 99/100 ppl would say a big oil find to be a positive development for their region/country - that's where I stand.

An image purporting to show a racist, anti-Obama bumper sticker on the back of a vehicle has been garnering lots of attention on Facebook in the past 24 hours. The bumper sticker reads, "Don't Re-Nig in 2012." And in smaller print below, "Stop repeat offenders. Don't' reelect Obama!" The sticker also features an image of the Obama campaign logo crossed out. Several viewers have claimed the image has been digitally altered. After all, it seems shocking that someone would proudly display an openly racist image on their vehicle in 2012. So, is the image authentic? In short, yes. It's still unclear is the image of the vehicle has been altered in any way, but a website called "Stumpy's Stickers" offers the bumper sticker for sale for $3. And as The Root points out, the site also several other racially insensitive items for sale as well. The urban myth debunking site Snopes says it cannot yet determine the origins of the photo, but also points out the availability of other similar t-shirts and bumper stickers. There is even an eponymous "Dontre-nig.com" website that appears to have crashed. Going to the page brings up a "Bandwith Limit Exceeded" warning message. I checked the domain registration service site WHOIS, which listed the site as belonging to an anonymous owner who purchased the URL through the company DomainsByProxy.com, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company specializes in keeping the names of Internet domain owners private. And as one astute Facebook reader pointed out, the bumper sticker is not only offensive, it's pretty dumb. After all, if you take the top message at its literal meaning, to not renege in 2012, would mean to in fact re-elect President Obama. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/racist-don-t-nig-anti-obama-bumper-sticker-162917634.html;_ylt=AmMfxojO8g3V9RUUidqtVYys0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNqZWdtODc4BGNjb2RlA2N0LmMEcGtnAzg5NzlmMjY5LTAyODktMzBjZi04ZWQ2LWUyOGNjZGE1MmE1NgRwb3MDMQRzZWMDbW9zdF9wb3B1bGFyBHZlcgM4NDVhNWNiMC02ZjhhLTExZTEtOGNiOC03Y2FmMGVhN2FlZDc-;_ylg=X3oDMTFrM25vcXFyBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnMEdGVzdAM-;_ylv=3

Ethiopia 'launches military attack inside Eritrea'
ElPunto replied to Xaaji Xunjuf's topic in Politics
Ethiopia the problem child of the Horn. Eritrea's got nothing - the last war took the stuffing out of them. -
^I don't know - that's why I asked. I don't think Duke is consumed by disneyland desert fantasies - actually he emphasized against it. If looking at Nigeria and Angola - the picture maybe bleak but if you look at Kuwait and Oman the picture is different. Let's wait to see what there is anyway.
-
^Why don't you view it as a topic to tell ppl about a Somali city?
-
^If this had been Somaliland on the verge of oil - would your reaction be the same? Or would you be the Duke painting the rosy picture? Ultimately this should be viewed as kheyr - wax walba khayr baa laga fiiraya islamically but this doesn't mean we should lack vigilance.

UN's last pop estimates by district. This should make everyone unhappy. It's an underpopulated country - chill out folks. http://www.fsnau.org/downloads/Combined-IPC-Population-Deyr-09-10.pdf Maybe someone can post the table for all to see.

Stoic - it's odd how you paint such a vividly dark picture and then end with 'So hold all the lofty ideas and the profligacy till we see the earth-shaking oil that will gush underneath the Puntland earth'? Presumably that applies to the Hobbesian future you've painted too. What is the latest news - seems all has gone quiet on the eastern front.

lol at Somalina throwing everything and the kitchen sink. Ticeey is an impressive leader. He's done quite a bit with limited resources. He actually has a good track record that can be pointed to. He is trusted by his constituents. It's these sorts of individuals who would make good leaders at the regional/national level in Somalia. When you do good for your own community you can be trusted upon (hopefully) to do good for the country as a whole. instead what we have now are leaders that parachute themselves in with no track record and simply a desire for power/money. Witness Geedi, Faroole, Sharif Sakiin etc etc.

Blessed - true about familiarity but then that gets established over time and requires early adopters. To me superflous Arabic names are the equal of superflous western names. I doubt anything not Arabic/Somali will go down well in the community - we're pretty hard on those who don't tow the line. African girl names: Abeje Abeni Abiba Adamma Addo Adebola Adeniyi Adeola Adhiambo Adjoa Afia Aiyana Akia Akosua Alake Amandla http://www.babynames.com/african-baby-names.php?gender=F

^Ditto. It remains to be seen what the next destination of Somali capital - hopefully back home. One morning a retired judge received a phone call from her lawyer. He told her there was someone who wanted to meet her, a potential investor. More out of curiosity than anything else, she agreed to the meeting. The investor turned out to be a Somali man. He wanted to buy her house. It was in one of the most prestigious residential addresses in the city, a street that was home to Nairobi’s old money. He offered her ten times its value. She refused. She had been living there for 30 years. She knew nowhere else. I wish ppl wouldn't do this - not only does it stoke resentments but it would likely be a poor investment. For all the talk about risk taking and Somali mercantilism - there are many who have lost in the race to invest.
